one word

my best friend and manicurist comes by my house Monday mornings for coffee and to let our Chi's play together. We all enjoy this time together as the dogs play me and my friend have our coffee, catch up on the latest gossip, and just have time to relax. On one particular Monday that she was over she told me about a text message she had gotten. The text asked her to describe the person that had sent her the text message in one word, and then to describe herself in one word and compare answers. This sounded pretty neat to me and we played this little game. I described my friend as friend, because she has always been a great friend to me, actually the best. She described me as devoted, saying that anything I did I gave my complete devotion to. This of course meant a lot to me.

I would like to pass this little game on to all the hubbers out here and hope you are all willing to play.So here is how we play.

I will start out by naming a fellow hubber and describing them in one word, I will then state why I chose this word. The person I name can then choose another hubber and describe them and so on.

I hope everyone enjoys this and maybe we can spread a little hubber love.

After tossing a three headed coin I decided to go with Christoph Reilly. His word is courteous, The reason I chose this word is because he is always courteous, he never has a bad thing to say about anyone, he is always helpful and willing to give advice. He is just an all around good guy.

if you would like to join in on the game you are more than welcome, just post the name of a hubber and their one word and describe why you hose this word.

So do we have to wait for Christoph to give a word? Courteous is a good word for him btw :)

gwendymom profile image

gwendymom 7 years ago from Oklahoma Author

No Spryte, we don't have to wait for Christoph, anyone who wants to go next can. And Thank you, I thought it was pretty good word for him, I had to think on it for awhile as there are so many words to describe him, but I think this one fits him best.

Could be interesting. I have to admit, at first when you said you and your manicurist got together and let your Chi's play together my mind really went to work. I was like... "Chi's?" Like, your personal energies comingling? Are we talking a cool, sweaty chi-chi wreslting? Then it occured to me you might also mean chihuahua dogs. Impossible for me to know for certain, so I'm going to stick with item number two until I recieve further clarification.

I'm terribly flattered and touched. Thank you, Gwendy. It means a lot to me. And thank you also Spryte and Mezo for the compliment also!

So, can we choose the person who chose us, or should we choose someone else. Or maybe say something about the person who chose you and choose someone else?

spryte profile image

I like that last idea! Definitely the most courteous of all choices ;)

Very funny, Spryte. Ok. I'll just forge ahead with that then.

First, since Gwendy picked me, I will say about her that she is SWEET. She is sweet because she always tries to make people feel better. She is careful about hurting peoples feelings and takes care not to cause others pain. Always putting others first. That's sweet.

An now I pick, SPRYTE. Uh....um...lets see...just kidding! For Spryte I say PLAYFUL. She is always playful, and she will play whatever game however you want to play it, with humor, or with thoughtful comments, the semi-argument, or whatever. She can play with your heartstrings as easily as shuffleing a deck of cards, or play with your funny bone until your sides ache. She's got game.

Like this game:)

I pick Shades, and the word I would use for him is GENIUS. Anyone who can write like him and make me laugh like he can is definitely top class in my book.

Can we do more than one fellow hubber, as there are loads I don't want to leave out??

gwendymom profile image

gwendymom 7 years ago from Oklahoma Author

Shades, I did mean chihuahuas but you can think whatever you would like to, which I am sure you will do anyway.

Christoph, Thank You! I don't know what else to say, you have rendered me speechless and that's not an easy task to do.

Misty, you can choose as many as you want, the more the merrier. Shades is a genius, but don't tell him that. His brain will swell to huge proportions.

spryte profile image

:) I like the word "playful" ... thanks Christoph!

Okay...hmmm...

Back atcha Christoph with the word "understated." I've seen you slide some rather irreverent and humorous remarks in the hubs that were only noticeable to a few (makes me feel sorta special that I caught them) that had me in stitches. More so because they were so subtle.

Misty - For you I choose the word "quixotic"... :) Why? Because I have a whole bunch of emails from you where I feel like Sancho Panza being invited to your latest windmill jousting session. LOL! And I adore you for it!

Jerrico--tornado. I chose ths because he doesn't seem grounded. He's kind of all over the place in his thoughts and wants and needs.

Mistyhorizon---compassionate. It just says it all and I can't explain it any more than that.

mistyhorizon2003 profile image

Here goes then:

Spryte, WITTY, which is why I call on you for contributions to hubs I am posting on. I know you will add greatly to the debate or article, and I love you too by the way :)

Gwendy, LOVELY, because she always has time for everyone and is popular with the whole community here.

Lady Guinevere, GENUINE, and I so love people like this who feel emotions in much the same ways I do.

Christoph, CHEEKY, and that is how he can make me laugh and adore him all at the same time.

Just Rodney, SINCERE, clearly not only a family man, but also an animal lover, I have plenty of time for people like this as they warm my heart.

Agvulpes, WICKED, as he loves to come and make comments right in the middle of multi-posted hubs, and always adds to the humour, not to mention being a bit raunchy in his own right.

Mighty Mom, STRONG, just like her name, plus being a wonderful person who fights her way to the right to call herself MIGHTY. We all love her I am sure.

Countrywomen, THOUGHTFUL, and it hasn't escaped my notice how much concern she has shown for my problems, which is a lovely personality trait in itself.

Okay...I've been fed and now I can concentrate on completing my list or...adding to it rather:

Gwendy - Unpretentious - I love the fact that she is who she is and there isn't a phony thing about her. I'd hang out with you anytime Gwen.

Shadesbreath - :) - Oh I could think of some good words here...but I'll settle for...Acerbic. He may look like a teddy bear...but he has a biting wit.

Sixtyorso - Comforting - There's just something very relaxing about reading his hubs and hearing memories of his life that makes me feel like I've wrapped myself in one of my favorite blankets.

Agvulpes - Mischievous - I get the impression that he can be a relentless prankster at times.

Ananta - Philosophical - I know, I know...he's a true troublemaker too...but at his core I sense a person that ponders life's mysteries to no end.

Lazur - Patient - She's not afraid to wait for what she wants, plus it probably comes in handy when dealing with Ananta.

BT Evilpants - Schizophrenic - Do I really have to explain that one?

mistyhorizon2003 profile image

sixtyorso, CUTE, as he always has a great comment to make and always one well worth reading.

BT, NUTS, but in a good way that makes us all love him :)

Lazur, SHARP, in an intelligent way that allows her to have complete confidence in her abilities.

Misty and Spryte, Thank you guys so very much you are both so darn sweet. I love ya both.I agree with so many of the words you guys have used to describe other people, it's really interesting to get other peoples perspective on other also.

Sorry I was not here earlier to answer comments, I have been at class.

Lady Guinevere, I agree with the tornado thing for Jericho.

Ok, So let me do a few before I have to turn in for the night.

Shadesbreath, Awesome, and I say that in a way that zI feel about him, He is so very smart, and witty. And for those reasons I am in awe of him.

Spryte, Talented, she seems to have a talent for pick up on subtle hints and also has the right words for the situation, smart, witty and many other words I can think for this crazy girl, who I would love to hang out with.

Misty, amazing, she seem to have the biggest heart in the world, always taking time for others and very busy, but always make the time to say hello and comment between the insane amount of hubs she writes.

Ag, Flirty, He never passes up the opportunity to flirt, and that's a great thing about him.

CW, Dreamy, he cooks and is a musician, what more could a girl ask for.

Sixtyorso, Timeless, He has a quality about him that everyone can understand and enjoy.

Princessa, Lively, She knows how dhe wants to live her life and does it her way. It's a great way to be.

Ajcor, resourceful, this woman has done it all it seems, I only widh I could do half of the things she has done.

I know I am forgetting people and I am sorry, I will try to add some more later.

Shadesbreath 7 years ago from California

Ok, you guys made and changed the rules so fast, I come back from class and this thing got busy.  Fun idea, lemme try to catch up:

Misty: "Plucky."  Misty approaches life head on.  Her hubs and comments make no attempt to hide her vulnerability, her strength, her sorrow, her knowledge, her humor or her insecurity, and yet, I never get self pity, self loathing or anything like that.  Frankly, I admire her ability to be comfortable enough in her own skin to allow moments of discomfort to show through and still hold on to her strength and up beat attitude.  That's solid stuff.

Spryte: "Savvy."  Spryte is a sharp, sharp cookie.  Her ability to dart from subject to subject, mood to mood, and deep to shallow is awesome.  The fact that she can do any of them with equal finesse and enthusiasm gives evidence to a keen mind that is not only sharp, but that has been paying attention for a long, long time.  Spryte sports a very versatile mind.

Gwendy: "Genuine."  Gwendy's heart is worn vulnerable on her sleeve.  She says what she feels unashamedly, and she seems to possess a certain innocence and trusting nature that is tangible in the way she presents herself.  Gwendy strikes me as the kind of person who is there when you need her, if when there is nothing to be done for whatever is going wrong.  She'd just be there.  Even if just to sit so you were not alone.

Alright, those catch me up, and I'll just toss one, since trying to do anything approaching a list, will either A) keep me up all night, or B) leave someone out by mistake.  So, I'll write up C. Reilly:

Christoph:  "Dignified."  It's almost cliché to use "gentleman" in conjuction with old Reilly, but,  he does manifest a palpable dignity in his writing and the way he carries himself in comments and forum play.  Capable of dancing along the line of indecorous humor with the bawdy likes of me, yet managing somehow never to cross the line and unhinge his air of debonair.

spryte profile image

spryte 7 years ago from Arizona, USA

Oooh...debonair! That's a VERY good description for our Christoph!

And Gwendy and Shadesbreath - *extreme blush of pure embarrassed pleasure* Thank you so much for saying those things. When it's time to update my resume, I'm coming to see BOTH of you! :) Seriously though, I'm...flattered and touched to tears.

pgrundy, Pam: Awesome. Adjective subject to change without notice. Have very much appreciated the information you have shared about US politics, especially during this time. This of course not the only field you are versed in.

Christoph: - just one word? Hmmmm? Charming. But I know this is just one side to a multifaceted personality! (Obliging too, you changed that photo, ta!)

Shades: Quick-witted (it's sort of one word). I don't think I've done you justice but it's so true. Plus you're a cool guy. Do you like that? Cool? or would you prefer Kewl?

Rochelle: Grace. It's more about the way you hold yourself here at hubpages. You have an air of wise maturity about you.

Spryte: Impulsive. In a good way. I could use hurricane, tornado was taken. You make me stand up and take notice. :D

Countrywoman: Heart. Sounds a bit mushy. You are very sincere and caring.

Paraglider: Solid. Knows that what he says has weight. Not afraid to get in and have a go.

Misty/Cindy thanks for mentioning that I am THOUGHTFUL which means a lot coming from you.

Here is my one word for Cindy/Misty BEAUTIFUL ( a beautiful soul in a beautiful body)

Christoph is surely CHARMING (which I have mentioned to him earlier) he know how to relate to just about anybody and charm them.

Agvulpes is CHILDLIKE (he surely has a childlike enthusiasm and disposition)

Paraglider is KNOWLEDGEBLE (he has vast knowledge of world affairs and has been to many places in the world)

Jewels is a MYSTIC (he seems like an enlightened soul)

Shades is a POLITICIAN (A guy who can change somebody's mind in a matter of few minutes aka political speeches by politicians and seems to have no permanent stand)...LOL

Spryte is INNOCENT (She seems like a small child and doing as she pleases)

Gwendy is HONEST (She seems like brutally honest and says what ever she feels like)

ANANTA is NAUGHTY ( I read his comments about KIKA....hehe)

KIKA is BRILLIANT (I mean a teenage girl with so much breadth and depth is amazing)

Mighty MOM- She is CARING (She comes out with lots of support in her comments)

SweetiePie- She is a GENIUS (Her indepth analyses of different topics always amazes me)

ConstantWalker- He is an IDEALIST (Sometimes seems to be too idealistic)

Well I guess I will have to think more and will keep continuing.

The one word that describes everyone here, is hub. An integral part of a system, from which activity radiates, and around which everything revolves. I am proud to be part of such a funny, sincere, intelligent group. To be revolving around so many distinctly different hubs, is both dizzying, and exhilerating! Each of you have touched me in one way, or another (get your mind out of the gutter), and I am grateful to all!

@ Spryte: I take exception to that schizophrenic remark. I used to be schizophrenic, but we're feeling much better, now!

Shades, thank you, your so sweet, one of your many great qualities.

Ag, mate is a great word, thank you. I call you my mate also.

Jewels, of course you can play. Come back anytime.

Shalini Kagal, thanks for joining in.

Trish, Thanks Trish!

Country women, You know you are right about me being brutally honest. It gets me into s trouble sometimes. I would have to say that I am unfiltered usually but I am trying to work on it.

B.T. I have only touched you once or twice, and you asked me to so you can't use that against me. And you have touched me a couple of times too.

Thank you gwendymom for "resourceful" comment, certainly I have learned to be in a life full of highs and lows - I know that I am not the lone ranger in this regard; but what I also now know is that for each of life's unaccountable set-backs there lies a story to be told!!

gwendymom - Sympatico - a really nice person with a fun side, who genuinely cares about others.

Shadesbreath -Witty - he bites with humour, is less than diplomatic and pretends to be a scourge, but the real him sneaks through when he isn't looking!

christoph - a Gentle-man - a charming man who ensures that those he comes into contact are the better off for it.

spryte - Impish - naughty but nice - sharp and zany - always willing to join in the fun with insight and clever retorts.

just-rodney - Caring - a sweet man who shares my love of animals and is generous with his support of others.

agvulpes - Sentimental - a loving family man who gives great back up to the team if he is in the room and on time. (it's the time thing I know).

misty horizons - Empathetic - honest and funny.

countrywoman - Observant - sweet and caring - and she takes time to comment - she even wrote me a poem!

jerricho - Well-meaning - thinks of how to help others very enthusiastically.

sixtyorso - Inspiring - generous and thoughtful about everything and everyone.

B.T.Evilpants - Wicked - no other word for this funny man who comes up with so much left field stuff.

Constantwalker - Fun - pops up unexpectedly with good remarks.

pgrundy - Brilliant - she writes with flair and understanding no matter the subject matter.

Hal Licino - Impressive - so much knowledge shared.

Sally'sTrove - Insightful - writes hubs that make me think.

And of course I am with agvulpes - everyone's a mate!

cheers

Okie Dokie. Thanks everybody, for all your kind words. I have expanded my list. I would like to say that the other day, someone referred to us as virtual friends (they didn't mean it in a bad way) but I don't feel like that at all. In such a short time I feel like I have truly made some remarkable real friends, so thank you all for that.

Gwendy: I previously said about Gwendy, SWEET. Still true, but I would like to add WARM. She is warm to others and she makes me feel warm too. Makes me feel warm towards others. Sort of like Pay It Forward, only it's Warmth. Lovely.

Spryte: Previously, PLAYFUL. Still true, but I would like to add COOL. Not like calm and cool, but that's true too, but as in, "What a cool chick!" I mean it. You just want to hang out with her because she's so cool. I like her.

Shades: INSPIRING. He inspires me to write better, to be wittier, and to take risks. I haven't felt like a student in a long time. He is a good teacher and I am lucky to know him.

Agvulpes: I guess our equilvilent for Mate is Buddy, so Ag is my BUDDY. Not like the way it is used casually, but in it's real sense.

Countrywoman. PURE-HEARTED. She has a heart of gold, and she explores what that means, with its inherent challenges. She always questions what is right and what is wrong, and takes the high road every time.

Trish: THOUGHTFUL. She will leave a thoughtful comment, careful to help build the writer up too. She really puts some thought into her comments, you can tell, and I appreciate that more than I can express.

Ananta: COMPLEX. He's irrascible but deep. On one hand, he'll come in and cause havoc on a hub, then turn around and write about being remembered when you die. That's complex.

Lazur: MYSTERIOUS. Ok. Maybe it's the hat. I used to be sort of afraid of her. i don't know why. She's really very nice. (And she's sending me candy from the Netherlands, so she gets my vote!)

Kika: EXHUBERENT. Geez, slow down and take a breath, kid. She's really talented, especially for her young age. It's a lot of fun to get to know her and re-experience what it's like to be that age when your whole life is before you. Trials, tribulations, stumbles, and victories. She's a bundle of joy.

Mighty Mom: STRONG. She maintains her sense of humor even in the most stressful of times. Who knew? I find that amazing about her. She can joke when she sometimes, I think, feels like caca, which shows her inner strength.I'll wear speedos for her any day (you too, gwendymom. That goes without saying.)

BT Evilpants: OUTRAGEOUS. He creates this character, and then creates a whole life around it. More impressively, he keeps it up, and more and more people get caught in the Jack-a-lope trap. He probably doesn't think he can write more serious, introspective stuff. But I bet he can. And I bet he can do it well.

RMR: See BT Evilpants.

Ajcor: Captivating. I am captivated by her. I am. I am captivated by the minah birds that eat her nuts, the sheep that eat her grass, and the ghost that pinched her butt. I want to learn everything about her. I'm just captivated, that's all.

Sallys Trove: ELEGANT. This is very hard for me, and I'm not entirely happy with that word. She is so many words, but...she is elegant. Her writing is elegant, her comments are elegant, her thoughts are elegant. To read one of her hubs is like a lesson in elegance.

PGrundy: SMART. That sounds boring and Pam is anything but. She's got wit, she's got helpful advice which she shares easily, and damn she's smart.

Jewels: CARING: She is a very caring person. Her hubs are all about helping people. She's a great person and I am honored to know her.

Shirley Anderson: FUN. Shirley is fun. I mean, she writes about aliens and probes! She'll pop into a hub and be right there with whatever outrageous conversation that is going on, put her two cents in (only she puts in a dollar) like she has been there the whole time.

And I could not forget...

Misty: SINCERE. She speaks sincerly on whatever topic is at hand, baring her soul if necessary, or doing what she can to help another person through a difficult time. She is sincere in everything she says and she truly wants to help. A pretty nice person to have in your corner.

If I've left anybody out, I apologise. I will surely make it up.

Gosh, what a fun and creative idea for a hub! As is so often the case, I feel like I'm arriving at the party 12 hours after everyone's left. In this case, everyone's taken the best words (duh -- what would you expect from a bunch of brilliant writers!???).

Don't think I could improve onwhat's been said above. But would like to add to the list for your consideration TKeeley: SPIRITUAL. Christian, yes. But in the best posssible tradition of being well read and considering all sides not just blind faith. I enjoy his hubs and wish he would participate in more of these dialogues.

You're asking someone like me to expound on something so undefinable--witha mere single word?

APPALLING!

By the way, I'm joking. But seriously, I studied biology. We make a living by BSing people with a ton of words and confusing them. Otherwise we'd not be a niche crowd.

I will participate if someone fills me in on what I've missed. These comments are confusing to someone so wrapped in election...confusion.... O.o

gwendymom profile image

TKeely, the game started out by picking a fellow hubber and choosing one word to describe them, then describe why you used that word to describe them. Then you you would choose another person and so on. It now is a free for all and you can choose as many hubbers as you want to describe in one word. It has been a lot of fun and there is a lot of love being spread around here. Hope you choose to participate. Have fun!

It is a MIRACLE. And we are sharing in it.

@AEvans: you've now got 129 fans :-)

(And my daughter starts her nursing training next year)

My contribution to the hub:

Mark Knowles: Intelligent.

I enjoy seeing Mark's mass debates in the religious forums.

He's also pretty good at sending off spammers in amusing ways.

And I suspect that deep down under that werewolf exterior beats the heart of a gentle pussy cat.

Shadesbreath (the real one): Witty

Shades is a master of  repartee, and is brilliant at linking unrelated things together to come up with something entirely new. His hubs and forum posts are a treat to read.

Lots of others that I need to mention properly - but don't have time now.

They include Spryte,  Christoph, Bard of Ely, CJ Stone, Misha, BT Evilpants, Sixtyorso, PGrundy, and many others whith whom I have enjoyed much verbal sparring on the forums.

Mighty Mom profile image

Mighty Mom 7 years ago from Where Left is Right, CA

Ok, here goes my "one word" descriptions. I'll start with our gracious hostess:

Gwendymom: Domestic Diva. Ok, it's two words. "Diva" will work then. Devoted mum by day, presiding over a rowdy virtual poker game/jello-wrestling fest by night. G-mom's glamour-gal avatar makes me think of a gutsy midwestern madame. She has toys and she's not afraid to bring them out when the occasion calls for them:-)

PGrundy: Alter-Ego. Pam and I have so much in common it's uncanny. She's way smarter and a much more fluid writer, tho. I love her candor and practicality.

Spryte: Mischievous. Spryte darts in and out like a little beam of light. But just when you expect lighthearted or satirical, she zaps us with a heartfelt look into her soul. That's a versatile writer.

Misty (who I cannot and will never call Cindy): Brave. I chose brave over "cheeky" which is another word I associate with her. "Cheeky lassie" is just one aspect of her persona. But brave is what keeps this lovely lady going in sadness and uncertainty.

Countrywomen: Bridging. What I love about Countrywomen is that she contributes so regularly to a wide range of hubs and brings a perspective of a lovely Indian woman. She reaches out to this community and to individual hubbers with lots of heart.

SweetiePie: Heroine. I experience SweetiePie as the star of her own book or movie, the plot of which is still unfolding. There have been many chapters that left her less than satisfied, but at the same time, this what gives her fodder for her writing. I fully expect there is a happy ending in her future...

AGVulpes: Punctuation. Ag doesn't hang around any one thread for long, but stops in here and there dropping little bombs of wisdom and humor. In other words, he punctuates our lives.

BT Evilpants: Creative. Anyone who chooses a jackalope as an avatar is already living in a different sphere than I am. I loved his hub about the evilpants lineage (midievalpants -- brilliant! are you also related to evel knievelpants???).

Misha: Rabblerouser. You say black, he says white -- just to stir the pot. Misha's all over HubPages stirring up controversy with innuendo and a foreign accent (sometimes).

Constant Walker: Sage. Ok, I cheated. CW recently wrote a hub on this subject and I think it really fits him. Quietly unassuming, but practical and caring in his advice.

Sixtyorso -- Sweet. I wish he was not so time-zone challenged. Appreciate that he still makes the effort to contribute. Dear man.

Shadesbreath -- Professorial. He may make half the stuff he says up. But it doesn't even matter. He says it so convincingly you gotta believe it. And, like the best teachers, he makes learning (about anything from grammar to chainsawing Christmas trees) fun.

Christoph -- Chivalrous. Although he'll side with the guys if necessary, he has a way with the ladies that makes us feel comfortable and protected.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some major hubbers so will add to this list as necessary.

Time for my round #3:

Thank you for all the wonderful descriptions everyone :) Let's see...I'm mate, impulsive, impish, innocent (I keep telling everyone that, Countrywomen, but they never believe me), cool :), and I'll take JustRodney's "mad" (of the three choices). BT and Shades can squabble over the remaining two.

Countrywomen - My word for you is "proper." As insane as I get sometimes, or when I teeter precariously close to the line of good taste, you always manage to pull me back with a reminder of how it's nice to be a bit more respectful. You are definitely a lady.

MightyMom - Exuberant is your word. I also wanted to use infectious and contagious but I didn't want you to think I believed you were some communicable disease. If you were though, I wouldn't mind catching it!

Sally'sTrove - I've said it before, and I'll say it again...you are "Eloquent." Anyone who can write such beautiful pieces of work on things like onions and beet juice foam has to be able to understand the artistry of the written word...and you most definitely do!

Trish1048 - Nostalgic is your word...but it doesn't quite contain the entire depth of how I apply it to you. You have this wonderful way of recapturing auditory, visual and sensory memories...putting them into a story...and making your reader feel as though they were there for the original event.

Constant Walker - Puzzling - As in...you cook, you have good taste in music and you have a great sense of humor. So it's puzzling to me as to how you are still single! :)

CJ Stone - Eye-opening. I'm in the middle of your first book and I've learned so many new things about you that I would never have guessed. My American senses are slightly shocked...and oddly relieved that you are human after all. Oh...btw...my female boss thinks you are hawt. She's seen your pic on the book cover and on here. Just thought you should know that.

Okay...that puts me through about a third more of my list. The rest will have to wait til later!

Shades ascerbic and manic

Spryte creative, mischievious, incisive (choose any one)

Misty enigmatic

Mighty Mom Together

Pgrundy gritty

Marisue prolific

Countrywoman spritual

Just Rodney thoughtful

Constant Walker enigmatic

CJ Stone intellectual

Eric Graudins contemplative

Christophe chameleon

Sweetie Pie Sweet

Qwendymom savvy

That's about all I can think of right now.

@ Spryte: iceberg

No, I don't mean to imply that you are cold. Far from it.

What I DO mean is that on the surface, you give the impression of being a lighthearted, impish, almost superfical lady.

However, one has to dive "underneath the water" to discover the much larger amount of talent, skill, vast life experiences, cleverness, and knowledge that you display in your hubs and forum comments.

I'd love to be able to write like you do.

@Gwendymon, Jewels, MightyMom and Misty:

You're all lovely ladies. I don't spend enough time here to stick a one word label on you, but I enjoy your wit and repartee in the forums.

Eric: *blush* Thank you! I've never been called an Iceberg before and in such a nice way too. And Misha...love you too!

I'm going to go off and scribble some words, but before I do...I need to add a few more people to my list:

ProcW: There's only one word that applies to him...and that's "First." I met Proc and SweetiePie while I was trying to explore Google's Lively and the two of them convinced me to come and try the hubpages. Proc was my first fan and my first friend in here *hugs*

SweetiePie: Well-informed is your word (might be two...but the hyphen makes it one...ha!) You have a wealth of knowledge on a dizzying amount of topics that I have a hard time keeping up. You're simply amazing and I stand in awe.

Zsuzsy Bee: Delightful is your word. Reading anything written by you...whether it's a hub or a comment...is like opening your windows for the first time to sunshine and spring breezes after a long cold winter.

Misha: You are "Devilish." An equal-opportunity mischief maker! It's nice to see however that you can take it as well as dish it out. Still love that gooey red lipsticked mouth! LOL!

Eric Graudins: Observant is most definitely the word for you! Maybe TOO damn observant :) Seriously though...I don't often see a lot of comments from you, but when I do...you have a way of getting right to the heart of what is on your mind and nailing it exactly. But you are also, witty, charming and a rare treat. Sorry...I just can't settle on one word for you. They just seem so inadequate some how.

Dineane: Real or perhaps Genuine...no...REAL. There's a subtle difference. You are so down to earth and wholesome that you give an entirely new definition to the word feminine. And one that is sorely needed. I admire you very much.

Benson Yeung - Mysterious is what comes to mind when I think of you. I just love that combination of doctor and philosopher that you have going on. And yet, beneath it all is a very human person with a life not very different from a lot of other people...but when seen through your eyes...it makes you incredibly unique and I consider you my secret treasure.

Ajcor - I keep trying to type bigger and more complex words...but my fingers are refusing to cooperate and insist that you are "Adorable". There's this wonderful wide-eyed sense of wonder that you have at the world around you spiced just right with an impish amount of humor that works its way into my heart whenever I read anything written by you.

Jewels - Transcendent is my word for you. You aren't satisfied with the usual answers that others might accept and you are more than content to look in spots that others might not be comfortable looking into to find your answers. I hope your explorations continue for a long, long time. The world would be a stagnant place without you.

Dottie1 - Neighbor - I know, I know...I picked up roots and moved out west. But that's before I knew you were right next door, dammit!! If I had known, I would have braved Massachusetts traffic to come and have coffee with ya. (And you know that's saying alot when you consider how frightening you guys drive).

Amanda Severn: Goofball! I say that in the nicest way and with the most admiring tone. I have the feeling if we ever sat down for a face to face chat...99% of the time we'd be laughing too hard with tears in our eyes and wouldn't be able to say a word without gasping for air.

Funnebone - Irreverent is most definitely the word for you. You have a knack for taking the most mundane, every day thing and looking at it from such a skewed perspective that it has me in stitches every time.

Okay...that's it for now. Time to do some work...err...or writing, which isn't work at all. :)

Ripplemaker - Joyful(She has that kind of innocence of a child and full of joy)

Here's a start on the appreciation I have for Hubbers I've come to know. These words are just a start. Gwendy, the *one word* challenge is much more complex than it seems on the surface. So here I go...

Christoph. Affirming. Whether you agree with someone or not, you always leave the other feeling full of worth.

Trish. Enduring. I know no one more patient, tolerant, giving, and loving when it comes to friendship. You are there for the long haul, despite the fact that some of your friends can make it so difficult for you. ;)

Marisue. Indominable. No quitter here, no matter what gets tossed in your direction.

Misha. Enigmatic. Yup, that sums it up. If I could say why I think of you that way, then you wouldn’t be an enigma, would you? :)

Spryte. Rich. I admire how you bring your thoughts and stories to life with imagery and emotion in a complexity of texture and color akin to the fineness of a rare tapestry.

ZsuZsy. Accomplished. Is there anything that doesn’t stimulate your curiosity? Is there anything you can’t bring a creative touch to? Is there anything you can’t do, once you set your mind to it? You have experience and talent, and the energy and desire to share them, much to my happiness.

Ananta65. Grounded. When I read your words, I always come away knowing that I’ve experienced something honorable, something useful, something solid and anchored, something timeless. Ananta Sesha readily reveals aspects of itself in your writing.

Shades. Earthquake. This is perfect for you, in relation to me. Do you know that I am gullible, on the serious side, and mostly unable to either recognize or interpret sarcasm, cynicism, and irony? So, most times when I think I *get* something you said, I find I didn’t get it at all. Yet, I still keep coming back for more. I loved living in California…losing the floor from under my feet during frequent earthquakes was a very small price to pay for being able to experience the magic of the climate and geography.

Gwendy. Engaging. No matter whether it’s a Hub you are writing or a comment, you have a knack for making your readers feel just like they are sitting across a table from you. I can’t put my finger on exactly how that happens, but it’s like you are in the other’s head, both listening to and encouraging. It seems to me that this ability comes from having a genuine love of people.

Mighty Mom. Spirit. Spirit in the face of adversity, spirit in the journey through life. Spirit born of strength. I don’t see anyone, including you, snuffing out your spirited candle.

That's it for now.

Ok, I'll give this a try. I'm kind of new around here, so bear with me on this one.

Ag and Misha: Quick-witted. They're always there with a comment, pointed or not, and often a turn of phrase that you wouldn't see coming. They bring out the best in people.

Spryte: Complex. Just when you think you know what she's going to do, she goes in another direction, from compelling to humorous to serious to playful.

Misty/Cindy: Loving. Considerate in so many ways, and patient. Feisty would fit her, too.

Shades: Resourceful. He pulls in experience from so many different levels and ties it all together.

Anne.Moss: Experienced. She writes about many things so well, and is an experienced blogger (how many? three different sites?).

Sixty: Genuine. His hubs make me reflect on life.

Witchee1014: Varied. Her hubbing jumps from topic to topic, but when she chooses something she writes with enormous clarity and wit.

There are others, too, so just because I didn't mention you doesn't mean I don't still love you. ;)

Here we go...part 2.

Countrywomen.  Compassionate, because of the sincerity with which you listen to and respect those who hold differing points of view.  I could have used the word *respect*, but compassion, I believe, describes that deeper layer of the soul which, when not present, cannot allow respect.

Ajcor.  Complex.  Your profile says it all, if we read it carefully, starting with the first sentence.  By the time we get to *closet scribbler*, the complex pattern begins to take shape.  I think your complexity is most evident in the contrast between a Hub like *An Australian Horror Snake Story…* and the Hubs in the *Behaviours* series.

Pgrundy.  Eclectic.  Is there anything that doesn’t interest you, anything that you cannot do a bang-up job of writing about?  I think your many opinions, interests, and experiences are even more varied than you let us see.

Shalini Kagal.  Introspective.  I see you always asking, *Why do I think that way, why do I feel this way?*  I admit, I make my impression not just from your Hubs and comments, but also from your amazing Internet sites outside of the Hub world.

Barack Obama.  Focused.  The Obama for President campaign was probably one of the most well organized, structured, and implemented short-term businesses the world has ever seen.  You led a team to set a goal, create a mission, meticulously operationalize a time table, establish milestones and contingency plans, and you led that team with unwavering commitment to achieve its goals to time and budget.  Oops!  I must be tired.  He doesn’t write here, does he?

There are so many more Hubbers whom I respect and admire.  I gotta' tell you, Gwendy, you really challenged me to think about why I like them all so much.  This game turned out to be, for me, an exercise in evaluating my perceptions and distilling them into an essence.

I admire your invitation, but I don't know if I'll participate in another of your inventions.  I'm pooped!

All the best, Sally.

I love playing catch-up on this hub and reading all the wonderful things people say about each other. And Gwendy...I think this was REALLY needed for the hubpages and is very timely. It's a good exercise after all the heated debates and discussions regarding politics...just to remind us all why we like each other. Awww...now I feel all warm and fuzzy :)

Sally & KT - You overwhelm me with your words. Thank you!

Steph - I hope no computers were hurt in those postings. :) Thank you for calling me fanciful! I like it.

Hmmm...let's see. Aggie says I'm a rainbow and wants me to figure it out. Well...there are those Skittles candies that are a rainbow of fruit flavors in every package. Then again...he could be referring to the fact that I'm diversity-friendly. Or maybe...he thinks there's a pot of gold at my feet and he's a leprechaun. In which case I would say, "Back off shorty...it's my gold!" :)

and if you still want the gold I'll arm wrestle! or bite you on the um..er..hmm, ankle!

I had to come back to read as there are so many hugs going around what a wonderful hub and you can hear excitement in the comments. I love it!! You are so creative and absolutely wonderful for creating this article. There is plenty of hub love here. :)

Ananta65 7 years ago

Gwendymom: obliging

You may wonder why I chose this word. I’ll explain. After clearly setting the rules for this fun hub (and it is great fun), Gwendymom easily gives in when the participants change those rules. And since those rules have changed, I’ll follow her example. So here are the results from the Dutch jury:

Spryte: impatient. Rather than waiting for Christoph she starts whining :P Although I must admit I have seen words here that describe her even better than impatient. Eric has said it and he’s right. *smile*

Christoph: sportsmanlike would be a good word to describe him. He showed he’s a good sport when he so courageously put in a poll to come up with a new avatar. And here too, he plays by the rules. Initially, that is :)

Misty: self-explanatory. Her nick says it all. She is misty, in a good way. Her mind can float into different directions. As to you comment, Misty, I can say only one thing of course: Here’s Johnny!

Lady Guinevere: enigma. Just by the choice of her nick. It already started way back when she drove great men to legendary adventures and continues today here on HubPages.

Shadesbreath: touchy. It really doesn’t take much to set him off. A misspelled word, a simple remark about what he believes is beer and he’s on a roll. Unstoppable. And we should continue to light that fuse as often as we can as brilliant hubs come out of it.

Agvulpes: modest. With modesty and self-esteem he blends in the community; leaving his footmarks here and there, never offending anyone.

Jewels: eager :) “Can I plan, Can I? Can I?” As soon as you discovered this hub you couldn’t wait to dive right in, could you?

Shalini Kagal: curious. Curious to understand life, understand other people.

Trish1048: homy. I see Trish enjoying the simple things in life in the comfort of a home that’s nicely decorated. Reaching out to others to share the warmth she has inside.

Countrywomen: alert. She notices the little things, the subtle remarks.

B.T. Evilpants: territorial. He sees himself as the protector of the Jackalopes and will do anything to stand up for them. He’d be a pit bull if he wasn’t a Jackalope :)

Ajcor: involved. Can’t really say why, but that‘s the word that comes to mind.

t.keeley: respectful. Convinced in his beliefs and firm in his opinions, but never pushing those upon others.

Mighty Mom: considerate. Her first concern is the well being of others, sometimes even to the point where her own interests are ignored.

AEvans: Christian. Supported by her faith she truly cares for others and makes an effort to ease these others’ pain and sorrow.

Eric Graudins: Grounded. Always in for a good laugh and very down to earth.

Sixtyorso: Young. Being sixty (or so) still discovering the world with the curiosity of a child.

Misha: Lazy :P Laid back guy who gets away with thinking of only one word for all ;)

Feline Prophet: deep. She thinks about life a lot.

Sally’s Trove: Warm. Another caring person, what more can I say?

Princessa: Feminine. Not that the other women I Mentioned aren’t, mind you, but this is the word that comes to mind when I think about Princessa.

G-Ma Johnson: cuddly. I bet her grandchildren speak fondly about her as being the best.

Lazur: Sensitive. Always in for fun, yet also always considerate of others’ feelings.

Sweetiepie: Sweet indeed. If she had her way we’d all agree on everything and live happily ever after :)

Terenceyap: compassionate.

PGrundy: outspoken. :)

Ok guys, I have made it back, finally!

Ag, you are so cute!

Sixty, It is a gift tosee ourselves as others see us. I hope it sticks.

Countrywomen, you are so very sweet to try to include everyone, even if it takes you two or three tries, that just shows what a great person you are.

Salini Kagal, thanks again for stopping in and sharing with us.

Sally's Trove, I am glad that if challenged you, it is so very hard sometimes to describe so many thing in one word. I know that many times the way I would describe someone would take many more words than one, but it is interesting when you have to choose just one. I hope your not too pooped to particpate in another hub.

Stephhicks68, Don't harm your computer, we would miss you if you were not able to get back on and play.

Spryte, glad you feel all warm and fuzzy, can you take something for that? Do you need a prescription? Is there a cure? I hope it is not contagious. Dang, think I caught it, I'm all warm and fuzzy too. Thanks Spryte, Your the best!!!

Ag,Spryte is all of those things, and so much more!

Lazur, Thank you! Not only am I glad that you participated in this game, I am glad that I am getting to know you a little better, You seem like a truly geniune person and fun too. I think we could be great friends.

Spryte, you might try a rolled up newspaper for Ag.

Lazur, see you later, hopefully soon.

Spryte, speels is a good word for you also, and so many others.

AEvans, I wish I could take the credit for this, but I cannot. My great friend gave me the idea with her text message and I just decided it would be fun to share with everyone here. I love this little community and think of you guys as not only friends, but family. Thank you so very much for your kind words, crap now I'm getting that warm and fuzzy feeling again.

Ananta, That probably is a good word to describe me, I just try to go with the flow. I did not do one word for you yet because honestly I was having trouble picking one word. I have thought about it alot, and still can't come up with one. I will continue to work on it.

Jimmythejock, Thanks for coming by and taking part. I feel the same way!

Ananta, there you go, being all cute and stuff. I'm still working on it.

Ananta - *lifts an eyebrow and looks at you*

And I must confess when I saw Trish's word...at first glance it looked like horny rather than homey. I mean...Trish could be horny for all I know, I was just wondering how you would...

:)

Ananta:

While I'm immensely flattered by the insinuation that I have a libidinous disposition...I may borrow Shadesbreath's "touchy" side and point out that while "homy" is an acceptable variant of "homey" (obviously the world population gave up on trying to correct the spelling of the word)...horny, due to the "r" and "n" have a tendency to look like an "m"...especially to OLD eyes like mine. :)

I should wear my glasses...but that would make everything a lot less challenging and fun. :P

Ananta65 7 years ago

The word vanity comes to mind. According to my dictionary homy is correct. The spelling checker says differently. And English not being my native language, I err at times, apparently. Even I’m not (though you might be inclined to think otherwise, I agree) perfect *lol*

spryte profile image

spryte 7 years ago from Arizona, USA

LOL! Sometimes I do wish the Netherlands weren't so far away. How I would adore verbally sparring with you, hanging out with both you and Lazur...I have a feeling it would be one hell of a good time.

As for foreign languages...I only know "speels" now in Dutch and I'm trusting that it is speeled correctly. :)

Ananta65 7 years ago

I’m sure we would have a good time, sprite *smile*

And you assume correctly. Funny thing by the way is that you know more Dutch words. Apartheid, for example is a Dutch word. Not something to be proud of, but it is Dutch.

It is ok to get that warm and fuzzy feeling as I do everytime I read a new article and see my fans, shine. What was intresting is that there are competitive people on hubpages and as we know jealousy rears its ugly head, however I just have fun doing what I do and it takes me away from my own little world for awhile. I love giving hugs and I even hug my patients as my heart has never grown tired of my job and when we lose a patient, I go into a room and cry as it is the hardest thing for me, regardless of how long I have been doing it.

Thank you to each and every person who has listed me and figure me out , as yes I am kind and compassionate it is amazing how it comes out when you are writing. I am trying to work on Raw Passion on hubpages as my perception is that he.she has had a rough life, so hopefully I will be able to tame he/she's rough edges so I would give he/she one word "Misunderstood" .

BIG HUGS to everyone again and again this has been a wonderful hub !!!:)

Ripplemaker: Pure, she knows about faith and spirituality in a pure kind of way that leaves one feeling there is much hope for humanity.  When I read her stories I feel really energized and wish I could have such a view of the world.  This lady is amazing.

Gwendymom: Thoughtful, to come up with this game, which is something that is enjoyable and community building for all.

Paraglider: Sage, he has a great deal of real world and academic experience, but he respectively shares this with all.  He never loses his cool, and he is a truly forgiving person.

Sixtyorson: Autobiography, the man writes wonderful stories that you could sit and read at the computer for hours.

Spryte: Whimsical, her hubs are creative, kind, but at times she will write about a personal experience that makes you cry, but you are in awe of her ability to overcome some very hard things.  She is a very light spirited lady that reminds me of Tinklerbell, one of my favorite Disney characters.

Ananta: Intriguing, the man has so many facets and always surprises me with each new hub.

ProCW: Talented, the man creates websites, writes plays, acts and directs.  He is a one man theater.

Shirley Anderson: Kind, she always has something intelligent and diplomatic to say.

Jerrico: Determined, some people have reacted to his posts in the past, but I know that is just him.  Believe me, many times I do not agree with him, but I can respect his enthusiasm and desire to achieve in the world of online writing.

Constant Walker: Healthy, the man is a little bit older than he looks, but based on his picture I would think he was 35 tops!  Constantly walking is a lost art in the world of the car, but with the economy maybe that will change :).

Countrywomen: Negotiator, this lady has her own opinion that she shares graciously, but she is very empathetic and lets others know she can understand their point of view, even when they fail to reciprocate.

G-ma: Nurturing, the lady makes me feel very comforted with her kind comments, recipes, and views on life.  I wish my own grandma was more like her :).

Marisuewrites: Mentor, the lady made me feel much better during a time my feelings were a little hurt. I take things way too personally sometimes, but she helped me to see it was not all that serious.

Misha: Pretty, his lipstick and earrings were really cute on his previous avatar. He should bring that one back, I really liked it :).

Dotie1, Photogenic, I love the pictures she takes for her hubs.

Trish, Thoughtful, she always pop ups to say something kind and her hubs are full of a good spirit.

Terenceyap, Friend, because he is that to all hubbers.

You mean a hint about RJ wanting to kill me?  I remember no hint.  No.  It came as a total surprise, when I learned from his interview as Hubber of the Week that I was in his hub called Dead Celebrity Pool.  So I went to see what kind things, nice, wonderful things, had been written about me--only to find out he was planning my Death!  And everyone was LAUGHING!  And everyone was HAPPY!  And everyone was amused at my IMPENDING DEMISE!  And they were passing bottles of CHAMPAGNE! Over my CORPSE!  Dead!  Me!  Oh, how it haunts me.  I haven't slept.  I dare not close my eyes!  When I do, I dream, Gwendy, I dream of a pack of hubbers with vampire teeth in my closet and under my bed.  Oh...the dreams...horrible...horrible...aaaaahhhhhggggggg.
