VALENTINES: Read Him or Her a Love Poem - Sweet & Short

Updated on March 15, 2016

It’s Such a Little Thing

It's such a little thing to weep,

So short a thing to sigh;

And yet by trades the size of these

We men and women die!

Emily Dickinson

Valentines?

Wiki probably knows better what Valentines is.

"Valentine's Day or Saint Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14. In the West, it is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other by sending Valentine's cards, presenting flowers, or offering confectionery. The holiday is named after two among the numerous Early Christian martyrs named Valentine. The day became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished." Read More...

Just think what would happen if everyday is a Valentines Day. It's either we have a peaceful world or an overpopulated planet. What do you think?

I remember Valentines Day very well. A few years back I had a dinner date with a beautiful woman on a lakeside restaurant. It was Valentines day then. I remember the candle cast flickering shadows that further highlighted her beauty. I remember the lump on my throat whenever she looked into my eyes. I remember her wrapping her arms around my waist when it was time to go home.

For seven years we had a wonderful life. I was king. I had everything. I wanted nothing more. My life was complete. Then she left me. I learned the hard way.

I knew for sure that there is no pain greater than that of broken heart.

How can I forget Valentines Day?

A Most Suitable Gift

Chocolate, love cards and flowers sell well during the valentine season. These three are the most popular gifts around.

Chocolates, aside from promoting obesity and diabetes... the guy may get a taste of his investment back when the gal opens it (does it taste good? here let me try some).Bake a chocolate cake yourself. Ii matters not how it looks. What matters is that you made it yourself.

Love cards are the easiest to get. Just drop in at your local bookstore and choose one from the thousands upon thousands displayed among the shelves. Making your own would top everything.

Flowers? You can get it online for under $10.00. But if you really have to give flowers. Give it to her or him personally. Nothing beats a gift with a personal touch.

My personal favorite is to give gifts one gift a day a week before valentines, The Seven Days of Valentines. On Valentines day... make sure both of you are together. A walk in the park, an ice cream cone, a simple dinner date, a movie, a night by the fireplace... it doesn't need to be extravagant. Extravagance kills the beauty of Valentines unless your proposing..

Or read her or him a poem. I've got list of my favorite love poems below you really need to hear. I still get that lump in my throat... even the sting of silent tears for I never got the chance to read it to her.
