A Brief Lesson On Crystal Magic

Crystal magic is a form practice that many people on the pagan path or similar paths do. It's a magic involving the use of gemstones and crystals for many different reasons, whether it be healing, money, love, dreams, meditation or anything else a particular stone may be able to aid you in. This form of magic is actually a pretty simple form of it and cheap at that.

Ancient cultures across the world used this form of magic, using several different stones. Native Americans, the Aztecs, Mayans, Egyptians and the Romans are just to name a few. Some stones were held very sacred to some cultures while others were used a great deal for healing a protecting their people from attacks and even snake bites. There are a bunch of legends that connect stones to the ancient cultures.

Egyptians for example viewed Turquoise as a life stone, this stone was also seen as a very sacred stone to many Native Americans.

However the act of crystal magic has survived through out the many years and there are still many who practice it still to this very day, including yours truly.

Cleansing A Stone

This is an important step in crystal magic. If you plan on using a stone for it's magical properties that you have discovered then you should cleanse the stone prior to using it. Crystals and gemstones are subjected to a multitude of different energies before reaching your hands and home and those energies could also include negative energies.

Sometimes one will listen to their intuition. Do they truly feel as if the stone needs to be cleansed? While others will do so no matter what. I will cleanse my stones ones I feel as if it is not doing its job anymore. For example I sleep with an amethyst under my pillow to help me sleep. When I feel as if it is beginning to not help I will cleanse the stone and I will also recharge it. This always seems to do the trick.

How do we cleanse a stone? Well there are many of different ways. First of all you should find out if the stone can be subjected to water because there are indeed a couple, if made contact with water, will be damaged. After you find this out then you can choose from these methods.

1) Burn sage and pass it through the smoke

2) Run the stones under running water then wipe off with a white cloth, if it feels as if it is not purified then repeat.

3) Let the stone soak in a mixture of sea salt and water

4) place stones outside, usually at the start of the full moon for three nights

5) Rub sea salt directly on stone, note that if your stone is a softer stone this is a method you should not use.

6)Bury the stone in the ground for a week. Make sure you mark the spot where you buried it the stone should the be purified.

Charging is the next step in crystal magic. After you have cleansed the stone, before using the stone for whatever you may be needing it for you should charge it. This is again a rather simple step. This is done by holding the crystal or stone in your hand that you use the most. Meaning if you are left handed then use your left hand. If you are right handed use your right hand. While your holding the crystal visualize your magical need. For example if you are using it for a good night's rest picture yourself sleeping soundly. Visual yourself pouring energy out from your body and into the crystal. If you feel as if the stone is charged then it is done. If you don't then continue trying.

Different stones have different magical properties. A lot of them have healing properties to them and many of them can touch our lives. Amethyst can help us sleep, I also use it to keep nightmares away. A clear quartz crystal is like the wild card of a deck of cards. This stone can be used for any thing. Do your research, find the stone you'll need. Then cleanse it and charge it. See how crystal magic works for you. You may just be surprised. I know I was, it was one of my first steps into my path. One of the things that helped me believe.

Interesting read - I found it useful. I didn't know crystals were used for magic. I thought they genuinely had healing and other positive spiritual benefits.

Great share.

Beautiful hub and very informative hunnie. Where is the best place to obtain a stone? Many years ago I knew a young girl who swore by crystals and stones for healing purposes. In fact if memory serves me correctly she had even written books on the subject. Net:)

Well there are some new age stores that will sell them in the tumbled form like the picture seen above. Then there are sites that are available that will also sell stones like azuregreen.com and plenty of others over the net. I like the non tumbled forms the best however i will admit that majority of my collection of stones are tumbled.

Tammy there are many different stones for luck. I recommend the use of Jade. It is one of the best known ones and does a remarkable job. After all the Asians used it many years ago for its magical properties and many still do.

Just tried the sunlight/moonlight method. Aside from my familiars (cats) knocking them off the window sill, I'd say it went well. Voted up, wonderful information!
