A Day Equals A Year NOT... Daniel Act four

Continued from Daniel Act Three

Daniels’ visions Act four

In the first year of Darius the son of Ahausuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans.

Darius  is believed to have been the Uncle of Cyrus the great. Darius was apointed king over the realm of Babylon by Cyrus  after it was captured on Oct. 15 of 539 BC.

This establishes an approximate date that the events recorded in this chapte was to have happened.

1:1 I Daniel understood by books the number of years, whereof the word of the Lord came to Jeramiah the prophet that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. ( and in Jeremiah 29:10 The Lord said that the people after being carried away would be brought back to Jerusalem after seventy years.).

Jeremiah had been serving the king of Babylon for the past sixty seven years. Reading and Understanding this would make him wonder?

Daniel immediately began praying and making supplications.

In verse 21 Daniel was still speaking in prayer.

9:22 Gabriel came to Daniel and said; “At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee…”

(the commandment has come forth and I came to tell ya about it.)

(9:25) “Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and three score and two weeks (69 weeks)…”

When reading this verse we must remember that Gabriel just said that the commandment has gone forth.                                                                                                                         Gabriel has just said that it shall be sixty nine weeks unto the Messiah the Prince.               The Church has been teaching that this is talking about the second coming of Jesus Christ.     I believe that they are correct.

9:26 “And after three score and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off”

Again, the church agrees that this is reffreing to the crucifixion …”

Gabriel has just said that in sixty two weeks they are going to kill the Messiah. Five hundred and sixty eight years later they killed Jesus of Nazareth. If This Jesus was the messiah, they killed him approx 568 years after Gasbriel said that they would.

I believe that this means that sixty two weeks in prophesy is equal to approx 568 of our years hear on earth. I do not think that this statement is an interpretation of what Gabriel has said in these verses. I believe that this is of the most simple of mathematical reasoning.

If 62 weeks = approx 568 of our years it would be safe to assume that one week would then be equal to approx. 9.13 of our years.

There it is. A mathematical comparison between prophetic time and earthly time.

This will be the subject matter of my next chapter. Let us move on with the subject at hand.

9:24 “Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for inequity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision, and prophesy, and to anoint the most Holy.”

These verses are not that hard to understand exactly as written. They need not be interpreted to mean any thing differently than what the intended message clearly is .

This can be said to be an interpretation on my part, but this sounds as though God has given that Hebrew nation notice. You have 70 weeks to wake up, quit sinning and worship him!! To quit chancing after other gods. OR ELSE

OK back to scripture.

9:26 “And after three score and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself         (for you and me); and the people of the prince that shall come  (Mesiah the Prince)

(or Prince Titus)  shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war, desolations are determined…

I am not going to speculate as to what all of this means. I will say that the city and sanctuary was destroyed six hundred years after this prophesy was given (A season and a time).

I will explain at a later time why I believe a season and time = 600 of our years.

9:27 “…And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week; and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations, he shall make it desolate, even unto the consumation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”

I believe that upon the second coming of Jesus Christ, He confirmed the covenant for a week, for there was only one week left of the seventy weeks that, that Hebrew Nation was given to Repent and anoint the most Holy. (9:25)

This would have been the completion of the sixty nine weeks. I also believe that this coincides with Rev. 1:1 - 3.

Rev1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants, things must shortly come to passfor the time is at hand.

The 69 weeks unto the Messiah would have to have been fulfilled before the 70th week was fulfilled.

The 70th week would have to have been fulfilled before that Hebrew nation ceased to exist in 135 AD.

This is when the times of the gentiles began. This is when the saints were given into the hands of the Little Horns for a time, times and an half. (Daniel 7:25)

We must remember that all of these prophesy are said to transpire during the time of the first four kingdoms to receive dominion upon the earth beginning with Babylon in 605 BC.

This is important that we do not allow false interpretations that we have learned to prevent us from understanding what is clearly written in this chapter of Daniel.

It comes down to this, Do we believe the word of God?

I believe that this is one of the most important books in the bible if we want to understand the rest of scripture correctly.

If we get this part wrong? The foundation of our belief system is WRONG.

Daniel 9:22 “… I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding.”

Daniel 9:25 “Know therefore and understand…”

Daniel is trying to share this skill and understanding. And the church has been stepping over this treasure of “skill and understanding” for centuries.

It is time that we make the effort to see what is actually written in these verses.

This chapter reveals to us that approx. 568 years here on earth is equal to sixty two weeks of prophesy.

A day in prophesy would be approx 1.3 of our years.

I have heard all of the arguments! My answer is …

When God speaks to a man he uses terminology that is familiar to that man.

When God gives a message to an angel to deliver; God uses terminology that that angel understands, and that angel delivers it exactly as it was given to him.

In that way it WAS a mystery until the prophesy was fulfilled.

I believe that this equation can be used to decipher the prophesy as written in Revelation.

A Day Equals A Year NOT ...  A day equals approx 1.3 of our years !!

Mathmatically speaking; If 62 weeks was finished around 30 AD, the 69 weeks would have been finished around 94 AD.

Jesus came to John while on the Isle of Patmos around 94 AD. God gave the revelation to Jesus , and told him to givve it to his servants (plural)   When Jesus gave the revelation to his servants do you think that he might have come to them and confirmed the covenant?                                                                                                                                                            The prison on Patmos was closed in 96AD; John and all of those prisoners on the island were released.

My next artical will further explain the timeline.

Jerami, this is a great in depth study of the 70 weeks of Daniel. It is very interesting that Prophecy time was not in line with the calender year that has been developed as we know it now. Certainly this theory worked well for this time frame. Good food for thought.

God Bless

Loves To Read Thanks for your comment. I think that all prophesy as stated in Daniel does not have any relevance outside the realm in which it was given.

Theologians should not attempt to apply any if this beyond the end of Days for that Hebrew Nation to which they were given. In other words the "Little Horn" has nothing to do with the prophesy that are given in the book of Revelation.

Daniel and Revelation are two distinctly diffrent sets of prophetic messages. When these are separated, they are much easier to understand.

Again thanks or your partisipation and ...

May God bless you.
