A Four Point Plan Of Salvation
Telling His Story
In the book of Luke, Jesus told three stories to illustrate the plan of salvation.
A.) The lost son wanted to be independent from his father and left home.
Luke 15:11-13 ~ "Jesus continued: 'there was a man who had two sons. v.12 The younger one said to his father, 'Father, give me my share of the estate.' So he divided his property between them. v.13 'Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living."
B.) The lost son came to his senses and decided to return home.
Luke 15:17-19 ~ "When he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! v.18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. v.19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son make me like one of your hired men."
C.) The lost son experienced the compassion of his father as he approached home.
Luke 15:20-21 & 24 ~ "So he got up and went to his father. 'But while he was still a long way off, he father saw him and was filled with compassion for him he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.' v.21 The son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.' v.24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again' he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate."
Things To Think About:
- God loves lost people, no matter what they have done.
- Everyone has gone their own independent way from God.
- God demonstrated His love for all people by sending Jesus to die on the cross.
- As soon as lost people come to their senses, they will discover it is time to go home to Father's House.
Today, we are going to learn a four point plan of salvation God, Us, Christ, and You.
1.) God is loving.
1 John 4:16 ~ "And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him."
2.) God is holy.
1 Peter 1: 15-16 ~ "But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do v.16 for it is written: 'Be holy, because I am holy."
3.) God is just.
2 Thessalonians 1:6 ~ "God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you."
1.) All of us have sinned.
Romans 3:23 ~ "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
2.) We deserve death.
Romans 6:23 ~ "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
3.) We are helpless to help ourselves.
Isaiah 64:6 ~ "All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away."
C.) JESUS CHRIST
1.) Jesus Christ is God that became man.
John 1: 14 ~ "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, Who came from the Father, full of grace and truth."
2.) Jesus Christ died for our sins.
1 Peter 2: 24 ~ "He Himself bor our sins in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness by His wounds you have been healed."
3.) Jesus Christ offers forgiveness for our sins.
Ephesians 2: 8-9 ~ "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith ~ and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God. v.9 Not by works, so that no one can boast."
1.) You and I must respond to Jesus Christ.
John 1: 12 ~ "Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God."
2.) You and I must ask Jesus Christ to forgive our sins and lead our lives.
1 John 1: 9 ~ "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
3.) You and I must be transformed by the working of the Holy Spirit.
2 Corinthians 5: 17 ~ "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation the old has gone, the new has come!"
Things To Think About:
- The Holy Spirit is drawing everyone to salvation through Jesus Christ.
- Each person must humble themselves before God to receive mercy and grace.
- There is only one way to heaven through Jesus Christ.
Let us pray for others to come and know God through faith in Jesus Christ.
