ARE YOU GOING TO HELL?

A friend told me that she finally decided to stop believing God. She said she came to realize there is no God. I was shocked! I asked her if she's happy with her belief and she said she is because she has no religion and no God either. She said she does not need to bother in thinking about God and the proofs of his existence.

As I assessed the life of my friend who turned Atheist, I saw the truth that she is not really happy.. Her eyes could not lie. There is inexplicable sadness deep within her. Her eyes are the windows that showed her confused and blinded heart. I was bothered by her unbelief for she is my friend. I know she is in the most dangerous condition because this unbelief will lead her to hell.

She certainly has no place in heaven because she does not have faith in God. Her unbelief is equal to the destruction of her very soul. To her, life is merely temporary existence here on earth and after which, she will die, her body will decay and go back to dust and that's it. She could do just about anything that pleases her for as long as she is happy.

To her, God does not exist. She does not believe that after death there is something more. I am so sorry for this friend of mine because I know and I believe what the Bible says that it is appointed unto man once to to die and after this the judgment. Surely, this friend of mine will face a horrible judgment for her refusal to believe God. And for this I could not help but feel terribly sorry for her.

A deeper assessment of her condition led me to believe that she does not really believe there is no God. I believe she knows deep within her heart there is an Almighty one. I know that each time she would look around and see the heaven and the sun or the moon and the stars above she could not hide the fact that there is one Supreme Being who created all these. My friend is just trying to deceive herself.

I am so sorry for this friend of mine for she does not have the glorious hope that someday when she died, she could enter heaven and be with God, and all the saints and angels forevermore. This is the most miserable condition one could ever have!. Although my friend is saying she is happy I don't think she could be forever happy in that situation. She should rather seek for joy which is something only a Christian could have.

My friend is hopeless about the life that lies far and beyond. Certainly, there is no joy in her heart because she does not have a Savior. There is no joy greater than the joy of having Jesus in one's life. What a great loss for someone like her who deny the existence of God, the only God whose unsurpassed love for everyone led Him to send His only son Jesus to this world.

The Savior Jesus who left the glory of heaven to suffer and die so that He could save you and me from the doom of Hell. There is no greater joy than knowing that Jesus has already prepared a place for me and for every true Christian in heaven so that we need not fear death anymore. We have the glorious hope that someday soon we will join our Savior Jesus in Heaven,

I am so sad for my friend. She needs Jesus and I pray she will give way to Him. How about you Atheists, are you aware that the worst is in store for you if you keep denying the existence of God? Are you prepared to go to Hell at the end of your earthly life? There is still hope for you. I pray that your heart will find a way to open the door to Jesus who keeps knocking. He is the only way by which you could be saved.

"How about you Atheists, are you aware that the worst is in store for you if you keep denying the existence of God?"

Well, I am not an atheist, but I am a secularist and agnostic, so I'll take a crack at this one anyway.

Yes, I am aware that Christians believe this. There is no reason to believe this, though. My question to Christians would be, how do you know this is true? "Because it is in the Bible," is the usual response. And why should I believe the Bible? "Because it is the word of God." And how do you know it is the word of God? "Because it is in the Bible." This is circular thinking on the part of the Christian.

Now, this does not mean there is no god--personally, I don't know whether there is or isn't. But I do know one thing: if there is a God, he certainly isn't the Christian God. The Christian God is a horribly troubled creature. He sends people to Hell even if they do good things, as long as they don't accept him.

In other words, he is a being far from perfect. And therefore not God.

On the contrary, you Secularist are the one who sounds horribly troubled. Well anyway, I understand because you have all the reasons to be so. The Christians can never be troubled because we are very much secured in our faith. If there are people who are going to hell it is because they preferred it. A person goes to hell or heaven because of his own unbelief so don't blame the Christians okay!

Well, I don’t see why I’m horribly troubled if I have a conscience.

Who's talking about Christians? I was talking about the Christian God.

You have done a great job criticizing me personally, but you haven’t actually responded to my question: how do you know any of this is true? You have also not responded to the point about god: a being that creates conscious people only to torture them forever is not a perfect being. It is something other than perfect.

Well just the same. our God just as we Christians are can't never be horribly troubled and He is not a creature for He himself is the Creator.

Don't blame God for the horrible end of unbelievers. Life is a series of choices and going to hell is one of those. No one can't be good and righteous enough to merit heaven for we are all sinners. You yourself can't claim you have sinless perfection, don't you? How can you then merit heaven all by yourself? All of us have sinned and come short of the glory of God. But God paid our sins by His precious blood to give us the chance to live eternally. We need the saving grace of God which is being offered free but unbelievers refused to believe. So why blame God for this?

My God is perfect and that is sure. Nothing can change that not even your unbelief.

Well, I have asked a few questions, but you have not actually answered any of them. You just keep repeating the same thing over and over. It's not very convincing for someone you should be trying to convert.

"You yourself can't claim you have sinless perfection, don't you? How can you then merit heaven all by yourself?"

No, of course I am not perfect--my boss will testify to that! You are assuming that heaven exists. Before you assume that, you have to prove it, which you have not. Until you prove that heaven exists, I have no reason to try to go to heaven.

Well Mr. Secularist, you said you are not an Atheist but although you have a different term for yourself (Secularist, Agnostic whatsoever), I found your belief just another form of Atheism. Shall I say you just sound more logical though because indeed the existence of God cannot be empirically proven or disproven. If the only basis would be just your own experiences and your feelings your belief is valid. However, a person with a doubtful and unbelieving heart will always find ways and means to reject even if evidences are all around him.

The basis of my belief that there is God and that there is heaven and hell is not the same as yours. I know that my God is real because He has revealed Himself to me in a hundred different ways. His clear revelations are found in His creation, in His Word, and in His Son, Jesus Christ. My God exists whether you believe or not. He cannot be visible for He is a spirit yet His miracles are. How could we possibly exist without a God who created us all? Who could have ever created us? How could a frail one such as I survive this tough life, if there is no God who helps me all the way? It takes faith that He does exist and I have this faith. I know that my God exists because my very heart confirms this truth. He lives within my heart and He keeps working on me. Besides, the heaven itself declares the glory of my Creator, He is clearly manifested in the universe, in nature and in my day to day living. Even without the Bible, all around us are undeniable evidences of His existence. Sadly though the unbelievers preferred to teach their heart to believe there is no God or to remain skeptical about His existence. They have already resolved not to believe so that whatever a Christian like me would say, they will all dismiss.

I am not here to push my faith on you Mr. Secularist, but I am here to declare my faith to everyone so that those who will find the heart to believe can be saved. If there are those like you who would not want to believe or who are doubtful and not willing to make a decision either for or against God’s existence, then that is your prerogative.

I am a Christian and I believe with all my heart that God exists and I believe it makes more sense than believing otherwise. It makes more sense because it is better to have a glorious hope of heaven than having none. If indeed there is no God, you Mr. Secularist and all the Agnostics, Atheists and Christians alike will just simply stop existing at the end of this earthly life. No reward whatsoever and no punishment either. So well and good if it does happen for we all lose nothing. But how about if Christians like me are right that there is God? How about if the Christian God which you call a horribly troubled creature really does exist? How then will you face the Christian God you rejected when you died? How then could you escape Hell if indeed heaven and hell is true? Ergo, it makes more sense to believe the Christian God because eternity in heaven is incomparably better than taking chances in disbelieving and doubting.

"... a person with a doubtful and unbelieving heart will always find ways and means to reject even if evidences are all around him."

Not really. You are saying someone who doubts something (and BTW I doubt everything--I am always open to new ideas) is a blind fool. I know that's what your Bible teaches you, but it's not true. Reasonable skepticism has enabled humans to uncover the truth time and time again--why else do we have legal courts to try to determine what really happened?

Reasonable skepticism leads to true knowledge, which has produced the very computer that you are reading this on. Without it, we would still be in the dark ages. Which seems to be what some Christians want.

If the objective evidence is overwhelming, then the true skeptic is compelled to accept it. The objective evidence for god is not overwhelming. In fact it is nonexistent.

So it's good that you admit that god cannot be really proven--you are miles ahead of other god-believers in that respect.

"How about if the Christian God which you call a horribly troubled creature really does exist?"

It's not that "I call him" a horribly troubled creature. He is. It's obvious. A being that created billions and billions of conscious creatures just to make them suffer--how can you possibly say that is a god of love?

Imagine if you chose to have a child with your husband, solely for the purpose of torturing that baby as long as possible, until that baby dies from the exhaustion of torture. Can you be called a loving parent? That's the Christian God.

If he really exists? Well then it would go against everything we know about reality. Maybe he does exist. Maybe this whole world we experience is just a massive illusion created by that god. We humans have rationality and can understand the world in certain ways. But maybe this is all just a big mirage created by the Christian God. Maybe I will be tortured forever, just for exercising my God-given intellect and wanting to know the real truth.

But one thing is certain: anyone who believes in such a reality believes in an extraordinarily dark, depressing, revolting and sickening reality. Why anyone would be attracted to such a worldview escapes me. That is the reality of Christianity.

Correction please, I said: "the existence of God cannot be empirically proven or disproven." You omit the word empirically and that makes a very big difference.

I have clear evidences of His existence. My own heart has proven Him and for that I have no doubt that He does exist. My very existence is an evidence of the existence of God. The heaven and the earth are my proof that my God lives. Empirically it cannot be proven but there are evidences of God’s existence. These clear evidences are not enough for agnostics and atheists to believe though. They still deny the existence of God and they will continue doing so unless they find “Faith”. Accepting the truth of God's existence will not be possible without faith and that is what you obviously lack. Nonetheless the heavens will not stop declaring God's glory and the firmament will not cease showing His handiwork. The beauty and wonders of all His creation and the hugeness of the universe point to one Creator and He is my God. All these evidences are confirmed in my heart. God has set eternity in my heart and in the hearts of all men, even in yours Mrs. Secularist. Deep within me and you is the recognition that there is something beyond this life and someone beyond this world. You can always deny this though on the basis of your own intellect, but it could not change the truth that God’s presence in us and all around us is very obvious.

Pardon me but I don't believe you are open to new ideas. Yes maybe you are open to hear new ideas but nothing more than this. It seems that no new ideas about God will change your stand as you have already resolved to remain doubtful about anything pertaining to God's existence. Your reasons proved this so. You already have a very negative view of the Bible when you have not really read it in totality; you have already called my God horrible when you have not really known Him yet. You have already viewed Christianity very negatively when your knowledge about this faith is obviously lacking and based on wrong concept. You concentrated your mind a lot on the fact that those who rejected God will go to Hell without even considering the fact the God has a free offer of heaven. You have already developed bad impressions on my God and accused Him wrongly on the basis of some obviously misinterpreted ideas. Your agnostic point of view gave you no knowledge of the truth and you will remain as such until you give way to faith.”

You said "reasonable skepticism leads to true knowledge”, but Mr. Secularist yours is not reasonable skepticism, but rather unreasonable skepticism and obviously this kept you in the dark. You are the one who remains in darkness, sorry to say. We Christians are always in the light because our life is well lighted by our God. We are living with love, peace, joy and hope and we want to share this to the whole world. We can never be in darkness for we have discovered the light in Jesus. Those who reject the “Light” are the ones who live in darkness and our hearts bleed for them.

Those who stay in doubt are the ones who are in the dark for they are at a loss on what to believe. They are without wisdom for they reject wisdom simply because they want to rest on the word "maybe". Maybe, maybe, maybe..! Why prefer to believe in uncertainty? What a dangerous condition?

You Mr. Secularist want objective evidence. Well, none of those objective evidences will you see unless you go beyond your doubts. As Jesus said "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed’.

You want objective evidence existence of God’s existence? I pray your heart will allow your eyes to see the clear evidences all around you before it would be too late for you.

Greenlily, do you believe that over 80% of the human race is wretched and evil, deserving of eternal torment?

Just remember this: "your" God will send over 80% of the people on this planet to suffer forever.

Forever. Think about that.

Greenlily profile image

Greenlily 6 years ago from Philippines Author

Mr. Secularist it is either you are right or you are wrong in that 80 percent figure of wretched and evil among human race. That is, if you mean those rapists, burglars, killers, and all other doers of heinous crime and the likes.

But do you know that not only those people you called wretched and evil deserve hell. Even you and I deserve hell actually, although we know and feel like we are not as bad as those wretched and evil ones. Sin is sin and everyone has sinned and for that all have to pay the wages for the sin. There is no small sin in the eyes of God. Every sin deserves a price. All sin is against God and since God is an infinite and eternal being, only an infinite and eternal penalty is sufficient.

The degree of sinfulness of each human may vary but we are all sinners just the same. All of us have sinned and come short of the glory of God. But everyone has the choice to ask forgiveness as God in His Holy Word states: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1John 1:9).

But many people still prefer to refuse God’s offer of forgiveness. Some believe they are too righteous to be lined along sinners. Some are too wretched that they don’t’ even mind if they are sinning for they have no fear of God. Some could not even believe there is God and some are even doubtful of His existence. These people can’t accept God for various reasons. Alas! Rejection of God is the worst a person could do.

The Bible could not be wrong when it declared in the following verses of the Romans 3: 10-18 and 23. ”As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes….. ………….For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; “

Despite the truth that we are all sinners and must pay the wages of sin God still found a way for our salvation:

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus.

Romans 10:9 - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

We Christians, just like others are also sinners but the big difference is we are sinners saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ our Savior. What separate us from other sinners are our acknowledgment of our being sinful, our repentance, our acceptance of the fact that we could not save ourselves by our own good deeds alone, that we need the saving power of Jesus who died for us at the cross, our acceptance of Jesus as our Lord and Savior and the fact that we are buried with Him by baptism into death so that like Him that was raised up from the dead by the glory of God, we Christians now walk in newness of life because if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature, the old things are passed away, all things becomes new. We are no longer the servants of sin but servants of Jesus Christ. We could not be perfect for we are still human. but praise God for we have been justified by our faith in Him so that our end is everlasting life. There is therefore no more condemnation to us for we are in Jesus Christ.

You said Mr. Secularist that God will send people on this planet to suffer forever. It could be 80 percent more or less but yes many will face hell. But note also, as I’ve been repeatedly saying from day one that this is not God’s choice. It is the choice of those who rejected Him. As God’s word said in Romans 10:3 “ For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

Despite the wickedness of men, God remains good. He wants to still give us the chance to be saved. He took the form of a man so that He could die for us. He died on the cross for us. The value of his death is immeasurable and eternal because it paid the full price for the sin of the entire mankind. But many people refuse to believe Him and could not receive Jesus Christ as Savior, and denied that His death is the full and just payment for our sins. While God promises that anyone who believes and trusts in Jesus will have eternal life in heaven many still prefer to reject or not to believe. How then could this people afford to even blame God for their horrible ending after the greatest sacrifice has been done and the free offer of salvation has been offered?

The truth is that God does not want anyone to go to hell. It is confirmed in the Bible in (2 Peter 3:9- “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”). The proof to this is the fact that He even gave His life as the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf. If people still prefers to reject God then is it God who should get the blame?

The process of salvation takes repentance, faith and trusting in Jesus Christ as the Savior. But people could not believe. Now you will tell me that I should think forever that God will send over 80% of the people on this planet to suffer forever? Mr. Secularist….. it is you who should rather think why you are among those people who are in danger of going to hell. But be glad Mr. Secularist because God is good. He is very merciful and long-suffering. He is still giving you all the chances in this world to be saved. I pray it will not be too late for you.

Try all you want, quote the Bible as much as you like. You cannot change the fundamental truth of the 80%. I detailed it here:

http://hubpages.com/religion-philosophy/Hell-The-P...

The vast majority of humanity is not Christian, and many of those that are declared "Christians" do not live a Christian life. That adds up to over 80% of the human race. Most of them are not murderers or rapists. Most are just nice folks working hard, trying to do their best for their family. But that isn't enough for "your" God.

You said:

"Alas! Rejection of God is the worst a person could do."

Rejection of God is the worst a person could do. Wow.

One can murder, one can rape, one can torture children.

One can kill millions of people.

One can send millions to the gas chambers, or to the Gulag.

But none of that is as bad as "rejecting" God. I find that very telling.

"But note also, as I’ve been repeatedly saying from day one that this is not God’s choice."

That's irrelevant. God knows what will happen--he knows everything, remember? He knew it before he made any person.

He knew before he created people that almost all of them would suffer eternally.

He knew.

Think about that the next time you worship him.

Yes, Mr. Secularist all your other sins and those of the wicked and evil ones will not be as bad as rejecting God. For those sins could be forgiven and forgotten for as long as you find the humbleness to repent and ask forgiveness but rejection of God has no forgiveness for when you reject God, you yourself have rejected the chance to be forgiven. That is the truth and no matter what you say you can never change the truth.

I have none of what you said to think about every time I worship God.I don't even have to read your hub for those will not have any value to me. I have nothing but praises on God's goodness and all your negative words have no effect. My life is one miracle that I will forever praise God about. How about yours? He gave a wretched one such as I as chance to be forgiven and to live a new life here on earth and a sure eternal life in heaven someday soon when He calls me home. How about you? Sorry for you Mr. Secularist for you have no such glorious ending unless you change your heart and find a way to accept the Lord.
