Are you Living according to God's Word?

Source

There are many people who can speak biblical scripture from memory as if they are reading it.
The question one must ask him/herself is, “Am I living my life the way Jesus wants me to?”.
The devil also knows scripture, he has been around a long time, he-in order to be able to twist God’s words and teaching would have to know it very well, which he does. In

James 2:19 King James Version, we read; Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

The hypocrites in the days of old also knew scripture very well, and they would cover themselves in sackcloth and ashes and disfigure their faces (Look mournful) for everyone to see. However, did they live their lives devoted to God? Did they live the way God had planned for them?
Matthew 6:16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Don’t do things for people to see. Don't live your life in such a manner that it pleases yourself and others. But instead, live for God, live the way He wants you to. Don’t worry or care what people think. If you live the way Jesus has planned for you to live, then what else matters?

Matthew 6:2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

God is the one who created you and everything else on this planet. He knows everything about you, even before you were born.

*Now Read: Psalm 139 in its entirety*

Whatever you do, do it for the Lord. This is the only thing that matters. He has a plan for you. He knows what is best for you. He not only sees the past, or the present, He also knows your future. Our future is not on the earth or worldly things, our future is eternity with Him. That is the plan, sadly though, many will not make it. Many people are world focused and not heavenly focused.

When we follow Christ, we live for Him and only Him. Then we are saved.

Colossians 3:17-24 King James Version (KJV)

17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eye service as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;
23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

Many people believe they are saved, but many misunderstand true salvation. If we are saved…truly saved then we will not wilfully sin, this is true salvation. If we continue to wilfully sin but believe we are saved because once upon a time we gave our heart to the Lord. Then this is a lie we are living, it is false conversion.

How can a person be saved if they refuse to follow the one who saved them?

Don’t live a lie, don’t listen to satan. Listen to Jesus, He and only He knows what is best for you. Follow Him and His will for your life. Repent, come back to Jesus and live the life He has for you.

Oztinato- I suppose we wont agree, and that is fine. however, what other believe is up to them. I do not feel insecure nor do I get angry-jus saddened by their close mindedness or blindness of the truth and unwillingness to try to see the truth.

jlpark-I don't think I am missing what has been commented or the points made. The fact is-and I agree what has been said that islam claims their god is the true god, however the fact remains that Jesus is the only way. My blog is written (as the title states) to those who read and claim to be Christian and do they live according to the Word of God?. I am happy that others read it and hope they all give it some thought.

Well, thank you all for your comments, I do appreciate them and I do not take insult by any of them, there are no hurt feelings or insecurity.

Thomas - you are missing the fact that the way you speak of Jesus is the same as those who speak of Allah, who believe that Allah is the one and only and that Mohammed is the prophet.

That they wish that all will come to Allah etc.

Oz has a point and a very good one at that and you are missing it (and Oz and I usually don't agree on religion - so this is a big thing!!).

Oh and btw - the first comment was abt yr hub, my follow up comment was on your comments - I don't think anyone is talking down to me, but you are being disrespectful to other religions when you brush them off...how would you react if someone did it to you and yours?

I'm not religious, but like to learn about them. I don't think you were talking down to me oersonally, but I think that you are being possibly unconsciously disrespectful to others.

Anyway - I'm out, I was just looking out for the under dog

Thomas

the complete equality of religion is similar to the complete equality of race. I invite you to see the complete equality of religions without feeling insecure about your own faith.

That is very true, well said. Thanks :)

I would like to make a corrective note about a comment I made. Some extreme Christians are not genuine Christians but other times extreme Christians are merely overzealous and young in the faith. I just felt troubled leaving that tidbit out because it isn't fair to the young in faith. Peace everyone.

Well I am not threatened by anyones religion. Again I say that I do not understand why you feel this way. There are many roads, but only one that leads to salvation. The Good News of Jesus can not nor will it ever turn to bad news. It can't. His teachings are pure and true. It saddens me that you are not willing to see this.

Thomas

you are joining in principle the same philosophy as IS! Their "one finger" salute symbolises the same "only one way" ideology that inevitably leads to bigotry against others.

You need to learn not to be threatened by other people's religions. The variety of religions gives great nuance and beauty to spirituality. If you can't see that then the "good news" turns into the really "bad news".

I know Jesus is the living Son of God. He IS the ONLY way to eternal SALVATION. I do not push it on anyone, nor do I talk down to anyone. I am baffled as to why you assume that I do. I have re-read my hub three times, and nowhere do I come across in the manner of which you speak.

Jesus Himself was very firm and stood His ground about who He was and the path to salvation. I will never bend to political correctness as that would not be biblical correctness.

I try very hard to live according to the will of God. I care about all people of all faiths and hope and pray that they will come to the full knowledge of Christ and to salvation. I do want the same for you. God bless you and read my hub again without being in the mainframe that I am speaking down to you, rather read it in the manner that I wrote it, with love and compassion.

To the OP:

Have you considered that Jesus may be a symbol of goodness - a figure in many religions - but known by other names. That it could be a test of your faith, and compassion, to respect (respect, not accept or convert) other religions, and other people's journey's through life and what may come after?

Or have you assumed that it is solely your role to push it upon others without consideration on what Jesus himself would have done? I cannot see the Jesus you speak of would not speak in the way in which you do of other people's faiths.

I find respect seems to help more people find their way, whatever it may be, than disrespect. To respect their journey, and let them gently find their way is to respect them and their walk with their version of Jesus. A personal journey that only they can walk...and it may just be different to yours.

The true Christians do not berate or attack. Exactly.

firework23 14 months ago from U.S.A.

You can choose to feel threatened by the message the OP speaks or you can disagree with the message and take what you deem is good from it and move on. Your free will allows this. You do not have to take offense to what you state as a superiority belief if you don't wish to. At a moment in my life when my faith was weak I believed the one true religion was pieces of them all together when I came across extreme Christians it did not phase me because I saw it as their belief, not mine and moved on. I do see where you are coming from. Years of extreme Chistians berating you probably got you here. The true Christians do not berate and attack. They state what the message is, like the OP did, and leave the rest to God. Yes the message can be hard to take in because the Son of God is the only way into paradise. It seems very hard to believe because the path is so narrow. However, Christianity is based on the Son as Savior. There is no Christianity without Christ. In the Christian faith He was our atonement sacrifice for sin because He was spotless and without blemish. He took the punishment of our sins and the only way to be saved is through Him. It's kind of like someone who has a gift for you and you can't have the gift until you see them face to face. Why do we need to believe He is risen? This belief makes us see that God is a living God not a statue. It also shows us what will happen with us (being resurrected). I am not telling you that you have to believe what I believe but I am showing you why it can come off as 'better than thou'. In the same regard some (not the OP) claim Christianity and hold it over people like they are better than others. Let me tell you something: Christ teaches us to see ourselves as lower than others (to remain humble). Anyone claiming Christianity and not showing respect is not following Christ. Peace to you, I hope you find what you are seeking.

I agree that there is truth in all religions and no one religion is superior. Notions of spiritual superiority are wrong. If someone wants to share their individual beliefs that's perfectly ok but only if they are not claiming superiority. Our faith should be enhanced and strengthened by the various faiths. We should never feel threatened by the faiths of others as this defeats the purpose of spirituality.

Oztinato: I am tolerant of other beliefs but I do not have to accept them just as you do not have to accept what I follow...hence kicking the dust from my feet. I am actually friends with many who do not follow my faith but I have shared the Good News with them and left the rest to God. I do not push though that is not what we are told to do. Conversion is not genuinely from the heart if others are forced into the faith. The OP is not pushing his faith, merely stating its truth. You do not have to agree, that is your free will choice. I wish the best to you.

The good news is the teaching of Jesus Christ, and that must be shared. I am not intolerant, I love all people, this is why I share about Jesus. I am not tolerant about lies and false teachings, this does not make me a bad person, it makes me a person who wants people saved and taught the truth.

Oztinato profile image

Share the good news by all means. Part of that good news is complete tolerance and acceptance of the good in all religions. Otherwise it's the "bad news."

firework23 14 months ago from U.S.A.

I believe the post was directed more toward those who believe they are already saved due to accepting Christ then not following Him.

I completely agree with what you have written. I must become smaller so He can become greater. Those who wish to follow me must take up their cross daily. Sin is not something someone who is saved wants or likes. You are also told not to love the world because those who do, do not have love for God.

To those questioning the OP and assuming he is forcing his beliefs on you I say this: it is our duty as Christians to share the Good News but doing so does not mean we push it....we share it and if others don't agree we shake the dust off our feet and leave it to God. You have a choice to follow or not.

There is only one way to eternal salvation. The way is through Jesus and Jesus alone. In John 14:6 we are told this. In Mark 16:15 we are told to preach this truth to the world.

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

So it is true that others worship different god's, but they are false god's. I pray they all se the truth and be saved. As a Christian, this is my duty. I don't care what people think of me, I only care what Jesus thinks and that I am doing as He wants me to, and I do have that right.

But what if that way was actually through Allah? Buddha? Or any one of the thousands of Gods believed in the world around?

Your journey with God is just that - YOURS. No one else's. You cannot tell another that their journey is wrong, just as no one can tell you that yours is wrong. Forcing your personal walk with God on another, even of the same faith as you, isn't polite or likely to make any impression on another to turn to God or worship as you do - it's more likely to annoy or even anger another - because you have disrespected their personal journey.

If I was to try to convince you that my journey with (or without) God is the way, the one and only. and provide quotes from my Holy Book (which may or may not be the same as yours), would you feel that I was respecting you or your journey?

So, are you living the life you should according to Gods word? YOU personally. No one else. Are you? Never mind what others are doing.

Well there is only one way, and that way is through Jesus Christ.

John 14:6

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

We are currently seeing terrorists holding up one finger to indicate "one way". This attitude is symptomatic of a misinterpretation that is causing all kinds of problems. It leads to religious bigotry.

There is one true word of God. Satan has used people to come up with false religions to lead them away from God and salvation.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness

2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

There are seven billion people on earth today, and how many of them even read the same word of god?

If there was a God, there would be one word, and everyone would use that word.

Even with your word of God, there are two different versions written hundreds of years apart by humans. These human didn't write these words contemporaneous with the events.

No wonder hardly anyone lives these words.

We all have the freedom to live as we chose, however, with that freedom comes responsibility. We can chose to obey God and His word or not. God will never force Himself on us, we have His word (The Bible) and we can obey or not. I will never tell anyone to obey God, but I will speak the truth and encourage people to do so. I want you all to be saved.

It's not up to one person to tell another to live religion like they do.

We as individuals only have the right to live our religion for ourselves.
