Are you living for the Temporal or Eternal World?
After accepting the Savior, do you experience the abundant spiritual life that He had promised? That of joy, contentment, peace, and love through your relationship with Him, we should be growing after the seed of salvation has been planted. Through the nourishment provided not only the Word of God but through the Holy Spirit do we grow through spiritual maturity. Without using these two gifts we are still spiritual infants (immature).
The lord wants you to yield control and let him live His life through you by using the Holy Spirit as your guide. As the psalm says, “Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths, guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” (25:45)
Jesus taught we need to come to him as a child in order to learn his ways and part of this is to humble our hearts so that through his Spirit we will grow. The Holy Spirit knows the thoughts of God and the Spirits job is to open our minds to understand, “the things freely given to us by God” 91 Corinthians 2:12). The Lord isn’t hiding his thoughts or directions from us; we need to open ourselves to the Spirit and all is reveled to us.
The Spirit can be hampered by distractions this world offers, from video games, movies, TV, relationships (both personal and social), along with other things that give us instant gratification. We need some alone time not only for God but for His Spirit in order to continue to nourish us, not allowing it we will succumb to the temporary values this world offers and miss out on the spiritual ones that will last an eternity. Jesus pointedly said this way in John 3:5, “Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to Spirit.” In other words, flesh is temporal yet the spirit is eternal and how we grow within this spirit will reflect our eternal spiritual lives when this life fades away.
It’s your choice feed the flesh or feed the Spirit. Will you choose temporal or eternal??
