Are you nuts
How many times have you heard that?
Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame. Isaiah 50:7 New International Version
How many times have you heard the calling from God and when you shared it with your family their instant reply is:” What are you, nuts?!!”
We will say you have a very good career at a hospital, make very good wages, have a nice home and are living very comfortably. Then you get the call from God to resign your position, sell your house and go work with missionaries in the jungles in poor villages in South America. Everybody will fight you except the most important one Jesus.
When I was a teenager I constantly had people tell me I should do this with my life while others would tell me I should do that. It drove me nuts. I was not a strong Christian then and did not have an intimate relationship with Jesus so He did not guide me. My choices sometimes led to a lot of very hard times for me but it was a learning process. God was teaching me: Do not listen to them, do not listen to yourself, listen to me. Now that is not to say we should not listen to our elders or to guidance councilors. But, the important thing is to always take it to God and listen to him. Perhaps he will speak to you through elders or councilors, perhaps another way. For me it was always tiny little ads in a newspaper. We didn’t have the internet back then. Wow, I’m ancient ain’t I?
Prayer: Thank you Jehovah Rohi (God is our Shepherd) for guiding me into the service for your kingdom that You have prepared for me. Thank you for helping me to have faith and giving me the strength to follow that calling even though there was stiff opposition, rejection and mockery by others. I give thanks for this wonderful blessing in the name of the greatest Shepherd Jesus Christ. Amen.
May the sunshine of Jesus’ sweet love bless you today and every day.
