Because He Lives !!!

I Want To Know Him

I had a conversation recently with a Minister of the Gospel. We talked for quite some time about the Lord, and all of His goodness. We spoke of His will and His ways. And as we got further into our conversation, the minister began to tell me of others he had known, who were in various ways, coming short of the glory of God. He began to speak on the shortcomings of other Christians, and how so many were missing the mark.

As I listened, I began to hear a voice of judgment and condemnation, rather than a voice of forgiveness, compassion, and love.

He would speak of others, and back up or supposedly solidify his argument with scripture. I could not help but notice, as was his intent, that he was very well versed in scripture. Yet, it did not elude me, that in his heart, he did not truly know Christ.

Then, I began to ponder, on how many people there are who engage faithfully in weekly church attendance and zealously perform their religious duties, who have diligently studied the word of God, and have rehearsed scripture to memory, but have not had a personal encounter with God.

I remembered someone saying, " Because you're in the garage, doesn't mean you're a car."

Boasting About What ?

Every true believer knows, without a doubt, that God is Supreme. God is omniscient, omni-present, and omnipotent.

Yet, what a struggle it is for God to be God, when far too many of us are sitting on His throne.

Paul, who had his own personal encounter with Christ, knew that he had reason to boast or brag. Paul said, I was circumcised on the eighth day, I am a Hebrew of Hebrews, I am of the tribe of Benjamin, I am of the people of Israel, I am a Pharisee, I had a zeal for persecuting the church, and according to the law, I was blameless.

Philipians 3: 7-10,

But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ. And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith. That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.

More Of Our Own Righteousness

Far too many Christians cling to a righteousness of themselves.

Far too many want to rule and reign with Christ, and far too few want to know him in the fellowship of his sufferings. To put it another way, " Too many people are trying to live, who have not died yet."

When times of testing, trials, and tribulations come, the profanely religious zealots began to bind-up, rebuke, and cast out the very thing that God intended to use to grow you up and mature you, believing that sufferings and hardships only come from the enemy.

But for every one who has gone through the storms and rain. For every one who has had friends and family turn their backs on you. For every one who has endure pestilence and famine. For every one who has been nailed to a cross, remember this, " Because He Lives, You Can Live."

Those who know him from the depths of their heart, those who have suffered with him, and for His name sake, and have become like him in death, you shall rise again.

Because He Lives

godPreacher, Great "Message!" This brings to mind one of my favorite hymns! "Because He Lives" I can face tomorrow! Because He lives all fear is gone! Because I know He holds the future and life is worth the living just because HE LIVES...! The words of this song are so very appropriate!

"But for every one who has gone through the storms and rain. For every one who has had friends and family turn their backs on you. For every one who has endure pestilence and famine. For every one who has been nailed to a cross, remember this, " Because He Lives, You Can Live." Amen "Those who know him from the depths of their heart, those who have suffered with him, and for His name sake, and have become like him in death, you shall rise again." It really is about having a personal intimate relationship with the Lord! Thank you for sharing, In His Love & Blessings!

A genuinely truthful message of Christian heart-failure godpreacher.

"He would speak of others, and back up or supposedly solidify his argument with scripture. I could not help but notice, as was his intent, that he was very well versed in scripture. Yet, it did not elude me, that in his heart, he did not truly know Christ." The sadness is that he is probably unaware of it.

The Pharisees knew the Hebrew Scriptures like we know the alphabets, yet, they did not know the Savior when He came. As you said, many has memorized Scripture well and yet, have missed the One about whom it was written.

Someone said, and I agree, that even if the world consisted of all Christians, Christianity would still be exactly where it is because we will attack and fight among ourselves. In always looking at and judging other Christians, we fail to sometimes see that "IT'S ME, IT'S ME, IT'S ME, O LORD, STANDING IN THE NEED OF PRAYER.

Thank you godpreacher, for a message that calls for examination of ourselves to see if there exist marks of our crucifixion.

Love and hugs,

Forever His,

Morning Brother and awesome message and a reminder of who 'He Is" and the importance of keeping Him in our lives as we face the hard stuff each day.

I reflect often on my past and I struggle with understanding how I survived without Him those days.

Without a doubt His hand was upon me the entire time as He knew the plans He had for me.

Praises to the Father...Very well written...

Blessings

Thank godpreacher...not only do we need to realize who Jesus is...we need to, as you so ably said, let God be God. Let Jesus BE the Lord of our life. We do need to and must die before we can live. Blessings to you brother

Oh, what a sacred week, as we draw nearer to the crucifixion: the single greatest expression of love ever seen by humankind.

Blessings my friend as we rejoice together in praising the King of Glory. Christ in us the hope of glory, our message to the world, and what a time as now to share this hope and to reflect the fulness of God and the power of the resurrection.

Have a blessed Easter, to you and your house. St.L.

Sis. DeBorrah,

I also love that song, and even venture to sing it sometimes, because it is special and carries much weight.God Bless

RevLady,

It truly pains me how some quote scripture to impress others, and have no real relationship with The Risen Savior. It is me, O Lord, standing in the need of prayer.

God Bless

Quill,

Though you didn't honor him during those times, he still kept you by his grace, you were never alone. In my book, " It Took A Cross To Raise Me" I speak about my "Stupid Years", but I now know that God was with me through it all. Even when you were not aware, as you said, God had a plan for your life.Remember, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

God Bless

UlrickeGrace,

How much difference would there be in this world if we would just let God be God, instead of us trying to seat ourselves on His throne?

God Bless

Loriamoore,

This is indeed a time of joy and reflection for us who believe. And isn't it great for us to know that because he lives, we can face whatever life brings our way?

God Bless

Saintatlarge,

I never cease to pray for you, and for all of my friends here on hubpages. Everyone here has truly impacted my life, and I am the better for having met and known everyone through their writings.

God Bless

Thanks everyone for coming by.

Absolutely wonderful godpreacher. Boasting truly is foolishness, but then to use oneself as an example in contradiction to others is awful. We all fall short of the glory of Yah. We are all in the same boat, all needing the same mercy and salvation. It is He that gives us the power to be righteous and it is not of ourselves. Wonderfully spoken and expressed. Peace.
