Bible Trivia: The Christmas Story

Source

How well do we know the Christmas story?

Many of us have been reading the Christmas story since we were small children. We've been in or to countless plays at church with children in their bathrobes playing shepherds watching their flocks by night, and Susan's baby doll playing the baby Jesus (it has to be a doll because it was supposed to be a silent night, right?). We've heard the classic sacred carols heralding the Savior's birth.

How well do you really know the Christmas story? Got it down pat? Let's start at the beginning with Mary's cousin Elizabeth and her priest husband Zacharias.

Mary and Joseph

Mary and Joseph both experienced visitations from the angel Gabriel. I don't think we often consider the hardships they went through. Their situation of not being yet married and her conceiving a son was scandalous. We don't read much about the scorn they probably received. But no doubt it was there. And yet they were a most blessed couple.

Why He came

What a glorious story! It's a true story about the real Savior of the world. The story of Christmas is simply this: God came down in the form of man, Jesus, to live among us as and die in our place as punishment for our sin. That is why His name, Jesus, means God is salvation.

Do you celebrate Christmas as just a festive holiday to give presents, meet with family, sing carols and trim trees? Do you fit Jesus in with your Christmas or is the birth of Jesus your Christmas?

Merry Christmas Lori,

Thanks for some fun on this Christmas Eve. I enjoyed the video as well - and the questions you asked at the end are ones we all need to think about and come in line with.

As far as the quiz, I started okay, but, well, I missed a few along the way. Still it was fun. Thanks for something different here on HP.
