Creation Or Evolution:The Existence Of God

The Anvil of God's Word

“Last eve I paused beside the blacksmith’s door,
And heard the anvil ring the vesper chime;
Then looking in, I saw upon the floor,
Old hammers, worn with beating years of time.

“‘How many anvils have you had,’ said I,
‘To wear and batter all these hammers so?’
‘Just one,’ said he, and then with twinkling eye,
‘The anvil wears the hammers out, you know.’

“And so, I thought, the Anvil of God’s Word
For ages skeptic blows have beat upon;
Yet, though the noise of falling blows was heard,
The Anvil is unharmed, the hammers gone.”
John Clifford

How Can We Explain Everything All Around Us?

People today, show little or no interest in God. Many have turned away, some don't know what to believe while others refuse completely to believe in the existence of God.

Creation and evolution is an ongoing religious and scientific dispute about the origins of earth, life and the universe.

Did all this just somehow create itself by chance? Does it make any sense that we endure a lifetime of work, have a family and, develop lifelong friendships, only to lose it all when we die.

Big Bang Theory
Science advocates the Big Bang theory of how the universe was created by tremendous explosions and then developed over billions of years.

Evolution
The theory of evolution, developed by English naturalist, Charles Darwin, describes the gradual process by which all forms of life evolved from earlier forms which were on earth milleniums ago.

His book, The Origins of Species, published in 1859, states the idea of "natural selection" and, “survival of the fittest” to account for the way in which evolution takes place.

Another of his books, The Descent Of Man, published in 1871, traces man's ancestors to ape-like creatures.

CREATION

Isaiah said, "Lift up your eyes on high and behold, Who hath Created these things...by the Greatness of His Might".

The Bible says God not only Created everything in six days, He also sustains it.

Genesis (Holy Bible), reveals God's Plan for His Creation of the universe and life.

The Universe
The existence of the universe with all its galaxies, planets and stars shows design and, moves to laws that remain consistent for its orderly existence and continuance. Without them, everything would have long since been destroyed in cataclysmic chaos.

Over the centuries, scientists discovered these laws that God instituted.

There is Newton's law of gravitation, Kepler's laws of planetary motion, Snell's law of the refraction of light, Ohm's law of the relation of electrical forces, Boyle's law of gases, Mendel's law of heredity, Fechner's law of psychology and, Einsteins law of relativity are some of these laws.

Isaac Newton
Sir Isaac Newton was moved by his discoveries to write: "This most beautiful system of the sun, planets and comets could only proceed from the Counsel and Dominion of an Intelligent and Powerful Being".

Earth
Earth was created for humanity with a purpose.

It is the right size and distance from the sun and has the right atmosphere to sustain plant, animal and human life in all kinds of environments. Both are linked to one another through order, interaction and interdependence for existence.

THE ASTRONAUTS

John Glenn

The first American astronaut to orbit earth said: "To look out at this kind of creation and not believe in God is to me impossible. It just strengthens my faith."

Charles M. Duke Jr

After a spaceflight, American astronaut Charles M. Duke Jr exclaimed: "The earth is the most beautiful sight in space with all its colors of land, seas and clouds".

He added: "Looking at it against the blackness of space was almost a religious experience" He later became active in missionary work.

Apollo 8

The crew of Apollo 8 read from the Book of Genesis as they orbited the moon. Bill Anders, Jim Lovell, and Frank Borman recited verses 1 through 10, using the King James Version:"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."

Frank Borman explained, "I had an enormous feeling that there was a God, that there was indeed, a beginning."

James Irwin

American astronaut and Lunar Module pilot for Apollo 15, was the eighth person to walk on the Moon.

James Irwin had an unusual encounter with God and Jesus Christ while conducting experiments on the moon that changed his life forever. He experienced the Presence of Jesus Christ and was overwhelmed by the feeling of God’s Presence. "I felt the power of God as I'd never felt it before."

He came back from his trip to the moon to a life serving God and sharing his faith in Jesus Christ.

Buzz Aldrin

Buzz Aldrin, along with Neil Armstrong, the first American astronauts to land on the moon, took a Bible, a silver chalice, sacramental bread and wine to celebrate communion when they landed and, read a verse from the Gospel of John.

World Of Nature

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his Hands.” Psalm 19:1

We see evidence of God through all the most beautiful and, breathtaking natural wonders of our world and the contrasting scenes and colors of the seasons with their own unique environments and pleasures that fill the mind with beauty and contentment.

We have vast oceans, cascading waterfalls and majestic mountain peaks, there are rivers, streams and lakes and we have hills, valleys, forests and deserts.

Colorful flowers for all seasons, birds flying in the sky, beautiful colored butterflies and, there are the many species of plant and animal life.

Clouds, a colorful rainbow, snowflakes that create a snow-white wonderland, the breathtaking colors of a beautiful sunset and, a moonlit night filled with millions of bright stars all add to God's Beauty.

"One thing I seek-to live in the Presence of the Lord-all the days of my life and, to behold God's Beauty".
King David

The Human Body
Nothing compares to the sophistication and uniquely, efficient design of the human body composed of trillions of cells, (the basic building blocks of all living things).

From birth to old age an individual keeps on growing and changing in an orderly pattern.

Food and water nourishes the body, we have eyes to see, ears to hear, a tongue for tasting, teeth for chewing, a stomach for digesting, intestines for absorbing, a heart for pumping blood throughout the body, lungs for maintaining oxygen content and, self-healing properties for repair. Every system functions to help the other.

The brain controls all bodily functions while the nervous system relays messages back and forth from the brain to different parts of the body.

Every human being is unique with an independent identity, personality, feelings and potential while the human mind provides the ability to think, reason, make decisions, acquire knowledge and, to make plans for the future.

Did a design like the human body come about by chance?

Freewill And Choice
God made man in His image and likeness. (Genesis 1:26).

God did not create man to think and act like a robot. He gave him the power of free will and choice to do as he or she wishes and, to become a creator himself.

God also gave him a conscience to give him a sense of right and wrong. Man's eagerness to sin however, violated God's Laws. Vanity, greed, envy, dishonesty, immorality, crime, corruption and, hatred became dangerous and destructive.

Pollution, global warming, extinction of plant and animal species, deforestation, soil erosion, atmospheric ozone depletion, and over-population are major problems threatening earth and God's wonderful creations.

World domination through war and violence has been the goal of ruthless and ambitious dictators and tyrants. God's Kingdom is not a man-made kingdom created out of human suffering. It is based on righteousness, truth, peace and love.

Christianity

Christianity satisfies the need for meaning and a reason to life based on the Word of God. It provides values that help the individual transcend limitations and, the hope of salvation in God's Heavenly Kingdom through Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

The Lord Is My Shepherd
23rd Psalm

The Lord is my Shepherd, I'll not want;
He makes me down to lie
In pastures green; He leadeth me
The quiet waters by.

My soul He doth restore again,
And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness,
E'en for His own name's sake.

Yea, though I walk in death's dark vale,
Yet will I fear no ill:
For thou art with me, and Thy Rod
And staff me comfort still.

My table thou hast furnished
In presence of my foes;
My head thou dost with oil anoint
And my cup overflows.

Goodness and mercy all my life
Shall surely follow me;
And in God's House for evermore
My dwelling-place shall be.

The Holy Bible
Many of the great questions of life are answered in the Holy Bible. Where did I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going? Its authors all wrote under the inspiration of God's Holy Spirit.

God's Laws are given to us in the Bible. They were put in place to provide guidance, knowledge and build faith so that we can find real meaning and satisfaction in our lives.

The Sabbath

"And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because in it He had rested from all His work which God created and made". (King James Bible)

Sunday, the seventh day of the week, was given to man by God so that he would rest from his labor and troubles of the week to devote time to his spiritual needs with his Creator.

Serving Others
Every human being has something to offer for the benefit of their community, their church and, fellow human being.

Serving others is an individual's expression of worship and love for God and, it is what the humble Jesus did and preached.

Serving others through good works and good deeds develops one spiritually and provides a sense of connection to something greater than we could ever imagine.

Church
We go to church to hear the Voice of God through Liturgy and the Sacraments and, to find Jesus the Good Shepherd, Who guides His sheep to greener pastures.

Prayer
Anytime and anyplace is appropriate for prayer to bring us closer to God. Through prayer we seek God's guidance, to gain peace of mind and, to find the light of hope. We pray in our own words, telling Him of our needs, our hopes and our dreams.

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, which art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy Name.

Thy Kingdom come.

Thy will be done in earth,

As it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive them that trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

The power, and the glory,

For ever and ever.
Amen.

God's Heavenly Kingdom

Natural instinct by people from every culture throughout time, have lead them to God.

The spiritually rich have an inner sense of peace and tranquility that an atheist does not. Deep within their hearts they know that there is something beyond this life that can only be found through faith in God and Jesus Christ.

The Gift Of Eternal Life

God's Plan was to give the gift of eternal life so, He instilled a sense of eternity in the heart of every person (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

God created man with a spiritual soul that will continue to exist beyond the physical lifespan. We cannot see the soul just as we cannot see air, micro-organisms or radio and television waves.

Jesus Christ came to prepare us for the life to come in God's Heavenly Kingdom through the forgiveness of our sins. His Crucifixion and Resurrection means our own salvation to everlasting life.

Jesus says in Matthew 16:26 "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? These words remind us of the value of the soul's spiritual qualities and its connection to God in this life and, in the life to come.

Near-Death Experiences
People worldwide, who were clinically dead but, were saved, overwhelmingly believe they have been given a glimpse of life in God's Heavenly Kingdom.

They describe how their souls left their bodies and travelled toward a Bright Light. They found themselves in Heaven.

There was joyous reunion with family members and friends who had already gone before and they saw Jesus Christ. They returned, more humble, less materialistic and, not afraid of death.

Doctor Raymond Moody Jr

Psychologist and Medical Doctor, famous for his books about life after death and near-death experiences, a term that he coined in 1975 in his best-selling book Life After Life.

Doctor Moody describes the results of decades of research into near death experiences.

"From the very beginning (of my afterlife studies) I was hearing people with experiences, some of whom had not been religious and some of whom were, and whatever they had been before, afterward there seemed to be a sort of commonality, which is the understanding that yes, there is a God," Doctor Moody said.

God The Creator

Can you get design without intelligence or purpose?

Everything is dependent upon other things for their existence. Look at the basic steps to making bread:

Plowing, seeding, harvesting, binding sheaves, beating the grains, winnowing, separating, grinding into flour, sifting, adding milk, eggs and yeast, kneading and then baking until it gets to the kitchen table.

The complexity of the universe and life can only point to God

"For every house is built by someone, but God is the Builder of everything."
Hebrews 3:4 (NIV)

God is the Creator and Designer of everything. He revealed Himself through Creation, through His Word (Holy Bible) and, through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Some of the world's greatest scientists believed in God.

Nicholas Copernicus, Sir Francis Bacon, Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton, Michael Faraday, Gregor Mendel, Louis Pasteur, Joseph Lister, Henrietta Swan Leavitt, George Washington Carver and, Werner von Braun were just some.

I exist, you exist. I look around, above and beyond and I proclaim:
"My God How Great Thou Art".
(Carl Gustav Boberg)

How Great Thou Art-Elvis Presley

Jesus Christ, The Good Shepherd

The Good Shepherd guides His sheep to greener pastures. He watches over His flock and knows each by name. His life belongs totally to them.

Who At My Door Is Standing? Jesus The Savior.

"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My Voice and opens the door, I will come in" (Revelation 3:20)

God Is Eternal
God Is Omnipotent
God Is Omniscient
God Is Infinite
God Is Omnipresent
He alway was and always will be.
There is nothing He cannot do.
He is the source of all knowledge.
He is without limitations.
He is present everywhere.
