Do Not Conform to the Ways of the World

What the Bible Says

Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain. Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me” Philippians 2:14-18

Men Love Darkness Rather than Light

It saddens me to know that we live in an unjust world.  A world that is full of hate, crime, and vengeance towards one another just because people feel like acting that way.  My heart breaks knowing that many people will not change.  I know that there is good, there is love, and there is passion for change among people yet they fear being labeled or persecuted in a sense because of their belief in God. “We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one” 1 John 5:19 Shouldn’t we be more fearful of God himself than of what a passerby might say or that a person we consider a friend might drop away due to our beliefs.  I think that if this so called friend/family/passerby judges you because you believe in God or are trying to tell them about Jesus then they aren’t really your friend.  I myself have had many people fall away from me because of posting scriptures on facebook or talking about how much I enjoy church, even a parent who completely disowns me because Christianity is a cult according to their mind.  “And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.  For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed” John 3:19-20 Yet in turn I have gained twice as many new friends who also know Christ and they are true friends.

NOTW - Not of this World, because He chose me out of this world.

I am Not of this World

I hold my head up and keep moving on because I know that God’s love and Jesus’ healing and love for me is more than I can receive from any parent or friend in the world.  I am not of this world “If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also” John 15:19-20

I am Not Ashamed

I am not ashamed “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Gentile” Romans 1:16 because if I was of this world I would fall into the corruptness that is all around me, instead I pray, I hold onto my faith and I keep walking on enjoying the beauty God has so graciously put here on Earth for everyone to enjoy until I am called to Heaven or the second coming of Christ. “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” Romans 12:2  Prove what is good and acceptable and the perfect will of God, it is to proclaim the kingdom of Heaven to bring the lost to Jesus, to help them seek His face and find the road to life instead of the path to destruction.  Wouldn’t you be more comfortable knowing you at least gave it a chance, spread the news of the Gospel, if they reject you at least you can say you tried, yet if you do not try then it is on your hands that you did nothing.  “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.” Luke 11:8-15.  This is so true, has anyone noticed that the Bible is all about life, every aspect of everyday, every word of wisdom that we have heard comes from the Bible!

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.
But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them “2 Timothy 3:1-14

Question for You

I believe God’s word has says it all, the question to you is, are you going to stand by and watch people fall into destruction or are you going to reach out your hand and bring them back to the path of life?

Let's Pray for Each Other

Dear Father,

Help us to do what is needed without fear, or complaining, so that we may be blameless and pure in your eyes.  We cannot hide anything we do from you, let us have the strength to help the lost.  Let us be your children without faults, children of you God, in a crooked and perverse generation that we live in and that our children, also your children, are being brought up in.  Let us raise them in your image God.

Let us shine in your eyes like a bright star in the night skies of the universe that you created, as we boldly speak the word of life that came from you Father.  Make us a source of pride to those who led us to the Lord, so that they may know that their efforts were not in vain.  Let us rejoice together with you and all your saints, all your angels in Heaven and let them rejoice with us now and forever.

In the name of Jesus we boldly pray. Amen.

I often wonder what Jesus meant when he wrote that His Kingdom was not of this world. For a long time I believed that He meant that His Kingdom was other worldly, as in it was up there in the heavens but now I am beginning to realise that He meant that His Kingdom does not conform to the patterns of this world. His Kingdom is built on love and forgiveness instead of hate and vengeance, His Kingdom supports those who are poor and humble and not those who are wealthy and powerful.

Jesus came to give us hope that another world is possible, a world that is a polar opposite to the one we live in. Yet too often people confessing to follow Christ do not understand His teachings and are therefore never set free from the malicious patterns of this world. They are stuck in a world of injustice, greed, selfishness, and unhappiness.

I know what you are saying...it seems when talking to people whom I try to share the gospel with that when you mention the passage "not of this world because he has taken you out of this world" a complete look of confusion falls over their faces. In all actuality like you had said that because we are in this world does not mean that we have to follow the ways of man because if we understand Christ teachings we are to follow him and the way he lived, forgiving everyone, giving grace, unconditional love, and so on. It isnt an easy path to follow but we can do the best that we can and when we fall He is there to pick us up, that is the freedom we recieve in knowing Christ as our Saviour. I too am still learning as I go, writing helps to reaffirm my thoughts by backing them up with His teachings.
