Few experiences of a lifetime

That was just an ordinary day like most of the other days. Actually, it'd be better if I say night, because by that time, the day had passed. As usual, I was sitting alone on the terrace of my house, unable to enjoy the cool, silent breeze, still looking at the sky, expressionless, making right-angled-triangles with the stars, while listening to some of Iron Maiden's masterpieces. I was so bored at that time, because in the previous few days, nothing had gone well, and add to that I had been doing nearly nothing. My mind was completely blank, I had nothing to think about & even then I didn't want to escape from the present reality. In fact, there was a reason behind this nothingness and I wanted to face it all - the things I had lost, the uncountable result less efforts that I had made, the past that always kept on chasing me, its sharp edges cutting my thoughts every time I looked behind to see if I'm at a safe distance or not.And although I knew that whatever I had gone through, wasn't a big deal, but to me, it meant everything.Just then I saw a shooting star. I immediately closed my eyes and murmured all the wishes that people like me who are born without the luck line on their palm, have ready all the time in case they get a chance like this.Although by this time, I had lost all faith in the almighty, and I'm ready to apologise if I'm wrong. But I think I'm not. Because the two dials on the twelve-pointed circle are the biggest factors that can do anything..anything! Now, I'm waiting to see whether shooting stars really fulfill our wishes or not. Because I haven't yet got the video game that i demanded about twelve years ago to a similar shooting star!

Hello sunshine625. Thanks for your comment. Actually one of my motives behind publishing this hub was to get advice from experienced people about my condition and I am able to see my motive getting completed. :)

Thank you very much. I'll consider each and every advice that I'll be given. Who knows I may find a ray of hope in any of them. :)

Thanks lyndapringle. From what you said, I can recall the dialogue of Max Payne2 (a P.C. game)- "the past is a puzzle, like a broken mirror..as you piece it together, you cut yourself, your image keeps shifting and you change with it!" it is one my favourite lines that I've ever heard. :)

It does seem like the past chases us too much. If only we could just learn to live in the present more and enjoy the moment but it's not always easy.

Your welcome anglnwu. I agree with what you said. We know that we can't always get what we expect, but still we don't give up our habit of expecting!

Haha--you've a good memory--the video game you requested twelve years ago? Don't we all feel like that sometimes, getting the raw end of the deal? Thanks for sharing.

Hi,

Another very interesting hub. I agree with the other commentators - you are an excellent writer so why not write about the luck line of the palm? I think this would be fascinating!!

Free expression is always a good thing, it helps loosen you up and create true words.

Thanks Mr. Carter. Well, it was just a random experience, as I'm new here so I wrote this as my first hub.

Thanks Barbara for your advise. I'll definitely (and very soon too)write a hub on luck line.

Yes Jamie, I'm having a really tough time and all I can do is just sit silently and let go off the things as they are going. But I know that, sooner or later, everything will be alright :)

P.S. pardon any grammatical mistakes, I'm from India and English is not my native language, but still I'm trying hard to learn it.

Interesting... I agree write a hub about a luck line.... Your luck sounds like mine, we call it the Carter Curse.

I love to sit in my back yard and watch for shooting stars.

What is the luck line on a hand. I'm curious. Why don't you write a hub about that? We in the US never heard about it.

Good writing. I found it interesting.

It sounds like you are having a tough time. Hang in there.. I was born without the luck line too. I think eventually we will be ok :)
