Man, this is so hard to do! Following God is the most difficult task at hand for me, but one that is the most rewarding. It reminds me of Peter, as he saw Jesus standing in the ocean, walking towards the boat that he and the other disciples occupied. Peter said something like, "Lord if that is you command me to come to you on the water". He seemed to be testing Jesus, like we all do at one time or another. Peter wanted to walk on the water to. This didn’t seem awkward to me, because who wouldn’t want to do what Jesus did?…..well yes, there are those! Anyway, Jesus told Peter to come to him. Peter insistently climbed out the boat, I mean who would tell Jesus no, and Peter wanted to walk on the water. As Peter started to walk towards Jesus, he lost focus. I loose focus everyday, all the time I get distracted by the days obligations and the worlds drama. So, Peter started to sink, because he was distracted by the waves, the roar of the ocean, the thought that he wouldn’t make it. He yelled out, “Lord save me” Everyone at one time or another has a thought that they may not make it. Saying or thinking; I may not make it through school, I may not make it through this illness, I may not make it through this divorce, and I may not make it through this crazy day. When you call on the Lord like Peter did, he is there in an instant, believe it, because he knew what you were going to do, and he knew that you needed him. Jesus instantly got to Peter and took his hand, saying to him, "you of little faith, why did you doubt". Wow, that’s deep when you think about it. Why doubt what God has in store for you, what his plans for you are, or the journey you have to take to get there. Why doubt the path that has already been laid for you. Matthew 14:22
LESSON FOR TODAY:
I am going to focus on God and have faith that however this day turns out……as long as I focus on him it was in his plan for me. I have learned through trial and error as a sinner that his plans turn out way better than mine. That whatever I face big or small he is there and will not let me drown.
