Food 4 Thought Ministries
Food 4 thought Ministries was started by my wife and I from our love of cooking. A few years ago we started catering parties but knew we wanted to do more. We cooked meals once a month for college kids coming to serve in our church during the school year. It was such a pleasure to give these students a nice home cooked meal and see the joy in their faces. Seeing such an appreciation for what we gave these kids we knew we had to do more.
Praying about it and hoping there would be a need to keep feeding people our pastor approached us with a question. He wanted to know if we were interested in feeding children during the summer. He explained how the church along with social services had fed these kids the summer before we had joined the church. Social services no longer has the funding to do it this year and he did not want this special time to be passed up. He recognized our talents and asked if we were willing to put them to use. This floored us our prayers were answered. This was the beginning of our ministry, Food 4 Thought Ministries.
Name for Ministry
We decided this being the answered prayer we needed a name. Soon one day as I was at work my wife called and said she had a name, Food 4 Thought Ministries. We thought about it and decided this was a good name since we will be feeding children and doing a ministry for the needy in the low income apartment complex. We thank our nephew Chris who through his awesome talent designed our logo. It was time to get going.
Shortly after announcing to the church that Food 4 Thought is the churches first mission to support we were called to duty. April 16 a fire destroyed some of the very apartments we will be in feeding the children. Eight families were forced to leave the units they lived in and settle for a different apartment. Thankfully occupancy allowed them to stay in the complex and help settle a bit of the moving anxieties these young people faced. We spent an entire day helping five of those families move to their new apartments and sort through belongings to find what was keepable. Thankfully we were able to raise donations of clothes, blankets, kitchen needs and food for all the families and give them hope for their new start. We also ministered to them and helped them spiritually to get through this ordeal. We also were able to let them know that every Thursday through the summer we will be there to feed the children.
Through our contact with the apartment complex we met the manager and let her know just what we do at Food 4 Thought. I also spoke with her and let her know I am an evangelist and wanted to start an open air ministry in the apartment complex. She was thrilled at the opportunity for us to come in and preach to the residents from out in the courtyards. Another answered prayer! In our area of Ohio open air preaching meets opposition everywhere we go, not here, she is open to us and gave us her blessing. Through the acceptance of our open air ministry we developed our evangelism team; Isaiah Michael Ministries. I will expound more on this ministry in another hub.
My four car garage is full! I cannot put my truck into the garage anymore. We have been blessed enough to take in 2 stoves and refrigerators along with many clothes and household goods. We have taken in enough to fill our garage, what a blessing. Cash has been slower though we have received a decent amount of monetary gifts over the last several weeks. We have let people know they can donate on our website, www.ohiofoodministry.org
Praise and thank you to the AWESOME GOD we serve for opening our hearts to do HIS service. In anticipation and thought we also thank all who read our hub here for the prayers that will be offered up to the Lord God for the ministry He has given us.
The song listed is Dallas Holm Hittin' The Road, this is one of our favorite songs and the message of it stirs our hearts, I hope everyone will listen to the message he gives in it and be blessed. God bless you all and please pray for our new ministry.
We soon will be starting our second summer feeding the children at Bayberry Cove apartments. Resources have been flowing in except for the monetary needs. This is not as expensive as people would think but it still takes a good amount each week feeding 25 young people. With your simple donation we may feed each one that desires to come. We need Bibles to give these kids and with your help we would like to provide up to 30 Bibles this year. We had 3 little girls accept Christ last year and we hope to evangelize this entire community. How will you help? What will you do to ensure the needs of these children? Anything will help, $5.00 is not too little and if you are blessed enough to give more we greatly appreciate the donation. We plan to give the Bibles out as donated by each person contributing to the ministry of helping these little ones. Jesus said,"as ye have done it unto these little ones ye have done it unto me." Help us serve Christ by serving His little children. All donations are secured through PayPal on our website, www.ohiofoodministry.org God bless and thank you.
Today, July 29,2010, Food 4 Thought Ministry was busy again feeding the children. We had 14 in attendance for lunch sharing love and food with them. As we were about to close we talked with some of the kids, at that point we had 3 little girls accept Christ as Saviour. Three of 14 saved! AMEN PRAISE GOD!
