Introduction

Garnet is one of those stones that has been used for over thousand of years for the many properties that it has to offer us. Not only does this stone have an amazing and beautiful red tint to it but it has wonderful properties has well.

Crystal magick is something that has been practiced for plenty of years even by the Ancient ones including Egyptians, Druids, Celtics, Romans, and Greeks. Garnet was one of the stones that these cultures would use.

Lore And Ancient Days

Many years ago this stone was used by warriors, therefore it was called the Warrior stone. The soldiers and warriors would wear Garnet or carry it to protect them against death and injury while they were in battle. Of coarse that's not the only reason warriors would use Garnet. It was also said to be a victory stone, a stone of success and said to bring peace and tranquility. It was also believed to heal injuries by stopping the blood flow.

Lore says that if Garnet is given as a gift it may grant loyalty and affection. It also states that if the stone looses its shine, its luster if you will, then it is a sign of danger or even disaster.

Women during those times would tie Garnet stones around their waists to aid them during their menstrual cycles. They believed it would help them because of the color of the stone.

Healing

Garnet stones are great for the spleen and thyroid. Both of these organs may benefit with the use of Garnet. The stone acts as a cleansing agent and a purifier when it is held over the organ that needs cleansed or purified.

If you are one lacking a sexual drive this stone is said to help with that.

It is believed to also aid with depression because it's supposed to draw happiness to you, it helps uplift your attitude. Not only does this stone have a couple of physical healing properties but it does great with our mental state as well.

It's also believed, still because of the color, that it will aid with fertility as well as menstrual cycles for woman. Many woman still use the stone today for those very purposes.

This stone is great for our blood, our heart, our lungs.

Note that while I am always for alternative healing, especially crystals, I believe it is still important to seek out a professional doctor or healer. I am not a doctor and it is just important to seek out advise and help no matter what.

Magical Properties

This stone is of the element Fire and when it comes to astrology Garnet is associated with the planet Mars and the zodiac signs Scorpio, Capricorn and Aries.

It is believed that Garnet will help brighten dark souls and bring hope to people who rather need it.

In the Chakra field this gemstone is great for the Root Chakra but also with other Chakras depending on the color. I am mainly speaking of Red Garnet in this hub.

Garnet is said to protect its wearer from negative energies as well as send those energies back to where they came from. If you are one are being gossiped about or lied about Garnet is said to protect you from that, sending those lies back to the person who first started them. Whenever you hear negative remarks or even feel them, place this stone between you and the person who is starting it and it will turn right back to them, making a rebound.

This stone is a stone of love and romance. It is a stone that is also used for manifestation and can assist with building up our self confidence. This stone will also help a business to be successful. If you want your business to improve place three of these stones in your desk and see what will happen.

Placing this stone under your pillow can help prevent bad dreams. Even wearing this stone can help the wearer to become popular, alleviate depression and help with friendships.

This stone is also a great protective stone and may also be used for gentle spiritual healing.

Garnet is also associated with the Greek Goddess Persephone. Interesting huh?

Conclusion

Garnets are beautiful stones and for plenty of years have been used in magick and healing. Those believes have not changed. Though there may not be as many people who still practice crystal magick, don't be fooled. There are still people out there that do and they truly believe it works. I am not ashamed to admit that I am one of them.

The first piece of jewelry I ever bought was a large, multifaceted garnet above a crecent moon of gold nuggets. I( was eighteen, and I still remember it. But, like all my stones, I gave it away. I feel it's loss from time to time, but to find it is a Warrior's stone gives me great comfort, as I believe that most writers are trying to war against ignorance, prejudice, and hate, in some form or another, and I am proud to say, that stone lives in my heart. Thank you Crecent, for reminding me of Garnet's importance... love yaz, lily
