Give Thanks With A Grateful Heart
In this autumnal season we find ourselves filled with great joy with all the familial festivities that are upcoming. Thanksgiving will soon be here, a time where loved ones gather around to give thanks to God for all His provisions (past, present, future). It is a holiday that brings a time to contemplate, meditate and marvel at the beautiful changes in nature that occur during the Autumnal season.
Perhaps even a deep longing for one to go through a metamorphisis, just like that in nature, that brings about a transformation bringing a new look to one's life. Its as if the Fall season is getting us ready to accept the nearness of the end of the year with a jubilous recognition that the Lord has allowed us yet another year to praise Him and give Him thanks for all His provisions.
Thanksgiving is the holiday that doesn't have to be elaborate in its setting, yet there is extravagance exuded in our giving of thanks to God the Father for who He is, and for what He has done for us.
Throughout the Psalms there are many times the psalmists give thanks to God for various reasons and purposes. Yet of the 150 psalms there is only one that is actually titled:
"A Psalm of Thanksgiving"
"Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations."
As we pray this psalm keep in mind that we are giving thanks to God for making us His. This thought can easily remind us that there is a soon to be coming holiday festivity that commemorates the ultimate act of God to make us His own.
May the Lord bless you and your family mightily during this holiday season and may each holiday bring a newness of love and dedication to our Father above. Amen
Thank You Lord by Don Moen
I come before You today and there's just something that I want to say. Thank you Lord, I just wanna thank You Lord. For all you've given to me, for all the blessings that I can not see. Thank you Lord, I just wanna thank You Lord.
With a grateful heart, with a song of praise; With an outstretch arm I will bless Your name. Thank you Lord, I just wanna thank You Lord. Thank You Lord, I just wanna thank You Lord, thank You Lord.
For all you've done in my life; You took my darkness and gave me Your light. Thank You Lord, Thank You Lord. You took my sin and my shame; You took my sickness and healed all my pain.
Thank You Lord, I just wanna thank You Lord, Thank You Lord I just wanna thank You Lord, Thank You Lord
