Gracious God Inspite of Our Unworthiness

A Gracious God Inspite of Our Unworthiness

“ I Thank Jesus our Lord who has given me strength that he considered me faithful , appointing to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance : Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners – of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example of those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.”

I Timothy 1:12 - 16

Consider that you are a recruiting officer of a certain non-government organization, will you consider a violent man with records of murder to join your organization ? Particularly that man is someone who has dome great damage to the members of your organization ?

Well such was the record of apostle Paul. He was once a very violent man, a murderer. He dragged men and women including children to jail because of their christian faith. He deviced evil schemes against the Christians, threatening to kill them if they will not give up their faith. He did his best to destroy Christianity.

Paul tried his best to kill Christianity in his ignorance. But the Lord JesusChrist poured out his marvelous grace upon him. Despite of all the damages he had done to Christianity, the Lord Jesus Christ entrusted him with a very great commission of preaching the Gospel to the Gentile world. He is not worthy because of the damage he had done to Christianity , but the Lord considered him trustworthy and faithful to carry out such task.Truly God has been so gracious to apostle Paul.

Despite of our unworthiness to carry out the Lord’s work, God considers us faithful to be part of his ministry. No matter how worst sinner had we become in the past, we may have committed many grievous sins. We may had become immoral people, violent people, blasphemers, idolaters, drug addicts, God has still reserved his wonderful plan for us. God is always willing to give us another chance if we will just repent from our sinful ways. He is always willing to give us a new beginning.

I was so much blessed with the testimony of Tony as I watched 700 Club Asia last night. Tony was once a very violent man always trying to have something to prove. He has this constant search for his identity that led him to the gangster world. Being in a gangster, he had lived a violent life, always involved in troubles. He had been deeply involved in drugs. His involvement in drugs led him to a life of emptiness and depression. The deeper he got hooked on drugs, the deeper the emptiness in his heart had become. Until one day he cannot anymore overcome his depression, he decided to commit suicide by hanging himself. He was about to carry out such evil plan when somebody knocked on his door that made him change his mind.

One day sitting in front of a television set , he watched TV evangelist Pat Robertson minister the love of Christ. He was touched by the message and accepted the Lord in his heart.. But his battles and struggles over drugs continue until one day he decided to cry out to God to help him overcome drugs.. Surrendering his life completely to the Lord,he pleaded to the Lord that he needed God’s help to help him overcome drugs He admitted. that he cannot overcome by his own power. After crying out that prayer, one morning Tony woke up with no more desire for drugs. He was finally able to overcome his drug addiction with the power of God.

Today, Tony is one of the counselor staff of a Christian drug rehabilitation center here in the Philippines. He is a very great help to many drug dependents seeking way out of drugs. He has now a very productive ministry in that rehabilitation center finding great purposes in life. Tony’s search for his identity ended. He has found now his identity in Christ, his Savior and Lord.

Truly if we will just open our hearts to God, he will reach out and rescue us from our bondage whatever it is. We must just admit that with our own strength we can do nothing, we need God’s strength .

God is always gracious to give us another chance. He is always willing to give us a new beginning . He always reserve his great purposes for our lives no matter how far we have astrayed from him. If we will just turn away from our sins and return to him, he is always willing to give us a place in his vineyard despite of our unworthiness. He is always gracious to include us in the exploits of his kingdom inspite of our insufficiency. What a gracious God he is.

Cristina,

Truly God is a God of another chance. Each new day that He blesses us to enjoy gives us another chance to make amends and strengthen our relationship with Him. We can never be worthy of His love and tender mercies, but we strive everyday to draw closer to Him and allow His power to empower us to service in His name.

Great hub,

Love, peace and joy in Him who is faithful to forgive our sins.

Forever His,

Wonderful hub on the grace of our living God, Cristina. It does not matter what we have done in the past. It is what we do with our future that will count when Christ returns.

For every word we have ever spoken, it is but a few short sentences we say that can change our life forever. This is of course our choice, but Gods desire for our lives. Only once we accept Him as our personal Lord and Saviour, can we find the strength to defeat the enemy and live the life God has planned for us.

Love and Hugs
