Why We Need The Color Green For A Well Balanced Life

Colors of Green Help Balance Our Energy

The color green can balance our energy. Green gives us the energy needed to nurture ourselves. When you look at the color green, let it remind you to allow nature to do its work. Let go, breathe in the rich emerald green hues and you will feel natures energy filling your body, mind and spirit.

What does the color green tell you about yourself? If you wear green ( any shade) you are benevolent and service-oriented. It is a symbol of peace and harmony. You are sensitive and artistic.

While green may increase your energy it isn't healthy to have too much hyper-like energy. After we experience this kind of energy and we don't pace ourselves, then we often "hit the wall" and we end up completely exhausted.

The Color Green Renews and Refreshes

Green makes me feel fresh. It maks me feel down to earth and reminds me of all the gentle people in my life...it's so peaceful, it's so Godly, so bright and so soothing...i just love green ~ Edner Jilloh

When I see the color green, I think of life. I think of growth and how even during dry periods when the grass is dead and brown, with just a little rain and some sun, it is renewed and green once more. We all have our dry periods when we are stagnate - when we need to feel renewed and refreshed. Sometimes, a good nights sleep or a change in routine is all we need. However, studies have shown that certain colors bring an energy to individuals.

"Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises." ~ Pedro Calderon la Barca -

Spanish poet and playright1600-1681.

What Is A Green Aura?

What exactly is an aura? The aura is the electromagnetic field that surrounds the human body (Human Energy Field-HEF) and every organism and object in the Universe.

Emerald Green relates to heart and lungs. It is a very comfortable, healthy color of nature. When seen in the aura this usually represents growth and balance, and most of all, something that leads to change. An emerald green aura indicates a love of people, animals and nature.

All natural healers should have a green aura. And the stronger the color the better the healer. When you are in the presence of a person with a green aura, you will feel peace and calm. When you visualize, using the color green will bring you to a restful and healing state.

Those with a green aura, also have a green thumb and love to garden and grow plants.

My Favorite Tree ~ Weeping Willow

Healing, Inner-Vision And Dreams

As a child I would walk most anywhere I could to behold the beautiful weeping willow tree. I found a sense of peace and healing within my soul. I experienced a deep connection with my creator, my Heavenly Father. I could hear a voice whisper to me, "all is well", my child. My love-starved and empty well, soon filled up with so much love I could barely contain it all.

The willow tree represents healing, inner-vision and dreams. The leaves and bark were used in ancient times for aches and fever. Indians, as well, used the tree because it contains acetylsalicylic acid, (aspirin). It may have derived it's name because it was used in the 19th century to commemorate the death of a loved one...and weeping.

So, you see, the color green is not reserved just for St. Patrick's Day, but for any time you want to renew and refresh your heart and soul.

Conclusion - Living a Well Balanced Life

Living a well balanced life is essential for peace of mind. There are things we want to do and things we must do. The challenge is to make good choices between these two and this isn't always easy to do.

I'd like to share some tips that have helped me to live a more balanced and peaceful life:

  • The most important tip of all is to nurture and take care of yourself. This isn't a selfish thing to do. If you don't set aside time to take care of yourself you can't do your best for others.
  • Be prepared for the unexpected. Stuff happens when you least expect it. Avoid getting upset and stressed out. Being this way never solves the problem.
  • Lose that negative attitude. This only compounds the situation.
  • Laugh more. Keep your sense of humor going. If you don't have one - develop one.

Our energy is depleted when we worry and fret over everyday occurrences. I personally find that if I do some form of exercise when I'm worried I immediately feel a sense of relief. Walking is my choice for moving my body and getting my heart rate up.

Thank you for being here and I look forward to your comments.

“Rest and self-care are so important. When you take time to replenish your spirit, it allows you to serve others from the overflow. You cannot serve from an empty vessel.”

As a kid in Iowa, I used to marvel at all the green each spring, after the dingy gray-brown of late winter.

And of course, the black coat and red-orange vest of the first robin.

That was an awesome hub! As soon as I saw the green picture in your hub, I clicked in. I use to have a green duffle coat, that went down to my ankles. At the age of 12 and for the next few years, it was my favourite item of clothing. I wore this coat everywhere. My family did not like this coat at all. Asking why I would want to wear, a horrible green coat. I could never explain why, I just loved it - now I know why! Thankyou

Two years later, my mum threw it away while I was at school. I don't think I ever got over it. :)

Awesome and up

How are you doing? As far as the color green goes - I prefer an emerald ring placed on my finger by Mr. Right (if he still exists). :):) Thank you, dear friend for the great rating. What a beautiful hub about the color green.. it's interesting about the "green room" for TV guests and I share your love for the weeping willow... such a beautiful tree.. When I think about green, what comes to mind is the grass, bushes and trees in the spring after a rain shower.. I love the way that feels and everything is so bright and green after wards. I don't know why it all seems so much more noticeable then. Anyway, great hub.. voted up and beautiful :0)

I love green and it appears God has purpose in mind for making the season of growth and its environment predominantly green.

I have read a couple of articles suggesting that it is the most soothing color to the eye and at one time, according to a PBS special, counter tops for watch makers and repairers were green for this very reason. they also said that some hospitals were using green surgical gowns because of this as well.

I enjoyed your article and your presented facts about green.

Audrey ~ when I was young, green was more than a color to me – it seemed to me far prettier to look at than any other color, I learned that it’s the only color that actually soothes the optic nerve, and it seemed much of the planet was green . . . so when I was about 14 I filled the bathtub with green food coloring, stuck a straw in my mouth, and submerged long enough to be green for a few days.

This was a very enjoyable hub. I also took a look at the link you included about auras, something I'm interested in, but have never really followed up on it. It's only recently that I have begun to like the color green anywhere except in nature. I would never think of painting my walls green or buying furniture in green. Dear MickeySr. - What a rascal you were, turning yourlittle self green. I couldn't help but laugh with that image in my mind. Thank you for sharing that the color green soothes the optic nerve. That would explain why I feel a calmness each time I gaze at the lovely weeping willow tree. I love walking in my area because of all the different species of trees. Thanks "Mr. Green." :)

MickeySr profile image

Audrey ~ People think that the sense of calm and rest you feel in the woods is just from the quite and naturalness of the experience - but in fact, all colors vibrate the optic nerve (reds & yellows more so than blues and purples, etc), all colors except brown and green . . . brown is neutral and (as I said) green is the only color that actually soothes the optic nerve, so, this has a significant effect on us when we visit the woods.

Cyndi10 - There are so many lovely shades of green. My favorite is emerald. Lately I have noticed several homes with walls of a lighter shade of green and it is so nice. MickeySr. - Wow - You know so much about the effects of color. It is all so interesting to me. How wonderful of you to share your knowledge with us. A great big thanks to you Mickey!

MickeySr profile image

MickeySr 4 years ago from Hershey, Pa.

Thanks, and, I don't know that much, I'm just too quick to share what I do know . . . like for instance . . .

I don't want to get too weird here for some, but; you know, nothing is really any color actually . . . I mean, grass only appears green to us because it's molecular structure is such that it absorbs certain spectrum waves of light and reflects others, when we look at grass we see green because we're seeing the green waves of the light spectrum, but the grass itself is not actually green, or any color at all (nor are apples actually red, etc). That's why dogs. birds, and even color blind humans see things as different colored than the rest of us. Nothing is really any color at all - we just see the light affected by the molecular structure of things.

Ok, I'm done now, I'll leave you all alone . . . for a while.
