Heartfriends Are A Gift!
Heartfriend
Do you have a “Heartfriend”? What is a “Heartfriend”? A “Heartfriend” is that person or maybe there is more than one person that you carry in your heart … they are true treasures, precious gifts from the Father.
They are the ones that you call first in the midst of crisis. They are the ones that you may go years without seeing and months without calling but when you are reunited … it’s like you saw each other yesterday. They are the ones that love you despite your ugliness when you are in pain. They are the ones that speak truth to you and they could care less if you get angry. They are the ones that tell you what you don’t want to hear. They are the ones that get in your face and say, “No matter what you do, no matter what you say, no matter where you go … I am not letting you go!” They are the ones who clean up the blood when no one else even considered or thought about it being there. They are the ones that will risk the friendship to save you. That’s a “Heartfriend”!
Do you have a “Heartfriend”? A person or more than one that you can be completely transparent and “real” with? Do you have someone that you can call in the middle of the night? Is there someone that will “read your mail”?
If you don’t, ask yourself this question … “Why not?” Is it because of fear? Is it because of pride? A “Heartfriend” acts in perfect love and “perfect love casts out fear”. A “Heartfriend” is the epitome of the love chapter … “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” (I Cor. 3:4-8) They live, “Greater love hath no man have than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends”. (Jn15:13)
Now, ask yourself this question, am I a “Heartfriend”? If not, why not? Is there someone that can trust you with their deepest hurts; their deepest desires, and that can call on you in their struggles? Let me challenge you today, if you are not a “Heartfriend” become one … if you are one become a better one. We are all living our life to become more like Christ, why not start with being a “Heartfriend”?
The Tribute - I am blessed to have more than one “Heartfriend”. Today I pay tribute to those who have touched our lives and helped to change us. Heartfriends walk with you through the valleys and go with you to the mountain tops. They never sit in judgment of you. They press in where Angels fear to trod … and walk with you through the valley of death, never letting go. They are always serving and doing what others don’t think to do. They speak the truth in love willing to risk the relationship because they look beyond the temporal to the eternal. Heartfriends teach you with your lives, encourage you with their words, hold you accountable and walk the path least taken with you. A Heartfriend will laugh with you, cry with you, get angry with you, hug you, protect you, forgive you, love you and start it all … all over again.
Letting someone get as close as it takes to be a “Heartfriend” isn’t easy but it is life changing … I challenge you to take the journey.
Father, I pray that those who don’t have a “Heartfriend” you would show them someone special to become a “Heartfriend” to. I pray that in becoming one they would gain one as well. I pray that this would bless into the lives of your body. I pray that you would mold me into the “Heartfriend” that you would have me be. Bless my “Heartfriends”, I pray that they would continue to touch and change lives as they have mine. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
