How to Attract Fairies Using Fairy Houses and Fairy Offerings

Ways to Attract Fairies

Fairies are spiritual beings that are difficult to see for many people, but they are always all around us especially in nature. When it comes to ways to attract fairies, we really have to be willing to open our minds to the possibility that fairies are ever-present everywhere on Mother Earth. Once we open our minds and hearts, we will be open to the world of the fairies. So you're ready to learn how to attract fairies to your home or garden?

There is more than one way to attract fairies to your home or garden, including using fairy offerings, a fairy house for the garden, and even a fairy chant. This is not to say that you even have to do these things to attract fairies but they do indeed help. I have used all of these methods in order to attract fairies and have had great success. Come with me and let's see how to attract fairies.

Attract Fairies by Leaving Fairy Offerings & Gifts

Traditionally fairies were left pails of milk, cream, butter, cakes, and even wine in old Ireland, Scotland, and England (as well as other places in Europe). You can still use these traditional fairy offerings to attract fairies to your home or garden even today!

Thus far, my daughter and I have left sweets of many kinds including a blueberry muffin, a powdered doughnut, and a brownie. All three were eaten right up by the fairies that live in our yard (you can watch the videos to the right, they show us leaving fairy offerings at Midsummer and then the next morning when the fairies had licked the plate & cup clean!) The fairies also seem to really like creamer (I just used a natural coffee creamer as cream) instead of pasteurized milk. But your fairies might be have to experiment with your fairy offerings to see what your fairies will really enjoy. I had a friend on Youtube who is really good with fairies tell me that the best way to leave fairy offerings is in a small pillbox. This way the fairies can open it and eat what's inside, instead of you having to worry about the animals or bugs getting to the fairy offerings before the fairies do.

Another great idea is to always use biodegradable materials or reusable materials to set your fairy offerings on. I use a paper plate that I recycle afterwards and a shotglass (which obviously gets washed and put away afterwards). But you can always go to the thrift store and purchase miniature baskets or doll dishes in order to use specifically for your fairy offerings. Fairies love a small gesture to make them happy and would adore you for leaving fairy offerings on their very own miniature dishes!

You could also experiment with wine and beer, if you are a drinker and want to spare some for the fairies. It is known that many fairies love to partake in revelry. To learn more about what fairies eat, click here.

How to Attract Fairies by Making Fairy Houses

Another way to learn how to attract fairies is by making special fairy houses for the garden or yard. This will show the fairies that you want them to feel welcome at your home (and that you indeed believe in them). Now, you can purchase fairy houses already made and painted, or you can make your own fairy houses to attract fairies. I think making your own fairy houses shows that you really put some thought into your fairies.

My daughter and I purchased wooden birdhouses from the nearest craft store (Michael's), which was actually an idea given to me by another hubber. We then used acrylic paints to paint the fairy houses whatever colors we felt. She went with pink and purple with a tye-dye effect, and I went with green and yellow for a Summer look. Then we decorated the fairy houses with stickers of fairies and flowers, glitter, and we put shiny things inside of the fairy houses (as fairies are said to be attracted to shiny things). Not long after we set the fairy houses outside we were already experiencing signs of attracted fairies.

We left brownies and cream outside in front of the fairy houses to attract fairies on Midsummer, and boy did they come and eat! A week after that, I was sitting in my backyard watching my daughter play in her pool when I heard something run up behind my chair in the grass. I thought it was the neighbor's cat and turned around really quick to shoo it away (the cat chases my birds), when as I turned to the left side it ran to the right. I turned around to the right really quickly and nothing was there...nothing visible that is. Because the grass was pushed down as if something was standing there for a split second...and then it ran away! I saw the grass smoosh down and heard it running! I was convinced the fairies were in my yard and having a bit of fun with me.

A Fairy Chant to Attract Fairies

You can write your own fairy chant in order to attract fairies to your garden or home, but just to get you started here is a copy of one of my fairy chants. Repeat this fairy chant while leaving a fairy offering or while building your own fairy houses for the garden.

Come one, come all

Good Fairies hear my call

I believe in you and your kind too

Dance on my garden's flowers

Stay and play for hours

Good fairies, you are welcome here

We hold your magic and lives dear

Good fairies, you are welcome here

Please some one answer me! I am 10 years old and last night I built a fairy house out f cardboard and construction paper. I also left some bread and a seashell full of water in it. The next day, I felt the bread. It was hard. And crusty. Did the fairy(s) take the essence out of it?

Luna - I wouldn't set out iron as it is said from the old times that they do not like it. How cool though!

The other day I set up a flat stone with a silk canopy to give offerings beneath and left a piece of doughnut, a bit of butter, some fruit tea, and an acorn cap full of oats (I'm not sure about how large of portions I should offer). A few hours later I had my dishwasher turn itself on and my cat is going crazy!

I want to set out a little plate with a butterfly on it but it's made of iron. Will that offend them?

katertots - They will definitely come inside! They would probably prefer real plants as they are nature beings. :) Cats won't bother them too much but it just depends on the rowdiness.

I just made a fairy garden, I just need plants. I have questions about what they like though. My fairy garden is inside, will they come if its inside? My offering is some zucchini bread, do they like that? Which do they like better artificial plants or real plants? This helped a lot. Thank you for writing it! Oh I almost forgot. I have cats and 2 dogs. The dogs aren't allowed in my room but the cats love it in here, will the fairies be afraid of my cats?

Wow! My family has a history with fairies... but this takes the cake! I saw some glowing balls of light, and tiny hands and brown hair when I woke up, on top of my dresser! The glowing lights were orange and yellow, and the hands left some kind of prints on my dresser! I'm nearsighted, and I didn't have my glasses. But just an hour ago, I got in bed, at the same position, took off my glasses, and they weren't there. But the strangest thing: My older sister told me, that if I truly believed in fairies, then they would come to protect me... (I truly believe in them, partially because I left out some gems, and poof!) I should've said this first, but I got sent this chain letter thing, and I was scared at night. I suddenly fell asleep (Earlier than usual. Usually I fall asleep at twelve, out of fear), then awoke to what was above! Did the fairies hear what my sister said?

Sounds like you have the fae all around you, Jynx!

I always hear noises in my house.. I have a pretty garden, and here's the thing: I see animals that don't exactly belong in my area... giant butterflies, large insects, and weirdest of all, fairy-looking creatures! They land on my screen.. they look like fairies, but, well, I'm not sure. They don't glow.

I think fairies come out on full moons. I read it on another website

Hello this very helpful but am new to this so I would like to ask you some questions if you don't as I don't want to mess it up and scare them for that matter. Is it true that if you say Thank you you are offending them? Do I give them offerings and gifts everyday?Am I allow to talk to them?Do I wait for them to come and take my offerings as I watch them?Or.Do I leave the offerings and let them do there things but then how would I know that it was them who took the offerings? I want to see them would they show themselves to me? How would I know what gift to give them if it's a boy or a girl? How tall are they?Which month are they most likely to be seen I know during summer but I don't know around which month?During what time should I put the offerings? If I don't have a garden but I terrace could I put the offereings there? Or. Could I put it near my window where there is a bar space?Yep, that's all that definitely cleared my mind off.I have no more questions.I hope that's not a lot. Sorry it's just that am new to this I never knew there were ways to attract them since I read what you wrote it definitely help me. Thank you! Please reply as soon as possible as I am really excited to start.

Gorgeous hub and enjoyed reading about attracting fairies! When I was a kid, I used to make little mud houses for them, and place bouquets of flowers and bits of food near the house entrances. Voted beautiful!

lucybell - I don't think they would scare them away all of the time.

Lipnancy - That's true, and I've actually added a crystal quartz and aventurine to the two fairy houses since. :)
