How to Fit in in a pentecostal church

Updated on July 30, 2012

Anyone can Fit in!

I'm not talking about any Pentecostal church. I'm talking about Jesus Name, Holy Ghost Filled, Tongue Talkin, Aisle Running, Hand Clapping, Fall out in the spirit, Oneness Pentecostal Church. Alright, now that that's out of the way. Some people think you have to dress the part to fit in. I thought that for years. But I have realized, that you don't. You don't have to wear a dress if your a woman to fit in. I always let that hang over my head and felt like I didn't belong. I learned it wouldn't kill me to wear a dress to church even if I didn't do it all the time. So you want to be a pentecostal? Well, First things first. Expect to come in the door expecting to feel God. Next thing, When we pray, we pray out loud, everybody prays at the same time. Most likely people will lift their hands. And that's a good thing. The music may start out slow, or it may start out really fast. Either way, there is going to be intense worship gradually increasing. First off, Clap your hands. Clap them loud, clap them fast. Sing unto the Lord, loudly. Some people are going to dance, and actually, it's kind of cool. I can't help but smile when I see people dancing in joy. David the King danced in his under clothes. Not underwear mind you, but he took off his robe so to speak and was in his PJ's. So yea, it's ok to dance. Somebody might yell, then everyone might yell. They yell things like yes, and Jesus and PRAISE THE LORD!! :) Some of them might shake. They might shake really hard. One time I went to a pentecostal church and had never really experienced the way some of them worship. I was terrified, lol. I went out the door and my friend Kim said don't go outside you'll get shot, lol. I went out into the lobby and some little chinese man came out quickly and said WHERE ARE YOU GOING? At that point I was terrified he was gonna grab me and drag me back in. I was and still am twice his size, but I thought the way they were acting he might have like super powers or something ;) So I said I'm going to the bathroom, and he left me alone. :) I DID end up going outside and I DIDN'T get shot ;) So anywho, back to what I was saying. People may fall out in the floor, people will most likely speak in tongues. It's actually all biblical. Just read the bible :) Now I don't know about running being in the bible, I'm not sure about that. But I say if someone wants to run around, it's not my business. Let them praise however they feel like it. As long as they don't fall out and hurt someone, like me, lol. Sometimes they will start jumping up and down, which is fine for these thin people, but someone like me jumps up and down people might think there is an earthquake. LOL. So if I'm gonna do that I'll just bouncle slightlly. It's like being on wii board for me at that point. The error message comes up DO NOT JUMP ON BALANCE BOARD. No, you just bounce and pretend your jumping, not that a pentecostal church is anything like a wii game, unless your playing a christian verison of just dance. So anyway, all these years I was plauged with Whiny statements like "I don't fit in" and "They think I'm a freak". Truth is, If I worship, no matter what I'm wearing, they are pretty happy to have me. :) God is so cool. So if you want to fit in to a pentecostal church, just praise the Lord, with everything in you, and as long as your not hurting anyone, worship however you want to. Run, Jump, Yell, Clap. I have to tell you, It's actually quite fun to open up and Praise the Lord. Not that you can't praise the Lord by sitting quietly in your seat and crying. Some times that is the best way and much needed. Sometimes you just need a Jesus hug. :) But, at the same time, it's ok to get with it. God bless!!
