Humans Outside The Garden Of Eden

Humans have been on this earth for about 100,000 years. This has been proven to be true, because archeologists have found human remains that are about 100,00 years old. The photo to the right, is very old. It is a picture of a human being. A complete human, not a missing link, but it is very old.

In Genesis 1:29 And God proceeded create man, man and female. He created them

Then in Genesis 2:7-8 And God proceeded to form man, Out of the dust of the ground, and blew his nostrils the breath of life, then man began to have a living soul. After this God created the Garden of Eden.

However, it is also true that Adam and Eve were created by God and placed in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve did not stay in the Garden of Eden forever. It says in Genesis 3:17 cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow thou shall eat of it all the days of thy life. Also in Genesis 4 we are told that Cain, one of the sons of Adam and Eve was a tiller of the ground. Which also means "Farmer". What is interesting, is the fact that about 6,000 years ago humans started to plant food. They started to create farms and settle down. Archeologists found this this to be true, because this was the time, that the remains of humans began for form groups. And instead of just hunting, they formed tools for planting food as well as.

Here is where it starts to get interesting, well at least to me.

Another thing that happened is that fact that Cain killed Abel. After Cain killed Abel, In Genesis 4:11 God told him " Now you are cursed and banished from the ground which has opened it's mouth to receive your brother's blood at your hand. A wonderer and a fugitive you will be

Cain was very afraid to become a fugitive and a wonderer and begged for mercy. Why was Cain so afraid of becoming a fugitive and a wonderer, that he begged for mercy? He was afraid that anyone finding him would kill him. We are told that in part of Genesis 4:14. Then in Genesis 4:15 God told Cain that if anyone killed him they would suffer vengeance seven times. But, God also changed the way Cain looked. God put a Mark on Cain, so that no one seeing him would harm him. After that Cain went to the East of Eden, to the land of Nod. Cain settled in the land of Nod,So if Cain was afraid of other people and was able to find a wife, what does that mean? Cain had been accepted by the people had very been in the bible.

Basically, it means that even though God created Adam and Eve and put them in the Garden of Eden, there were people who were living outside the Garden of Eden. The people living outside the Garden of Eden were not related to Adam and Eve. Cain's wife was not biologically related to him. They were only related by marriage. In the bible we are taught " If a man takes his sister, his father's daughter, or his mother's daughter and he sees her naked, or she sees him naked, it is a wicked thing; they shall be cut off in the sight of their people.

The location of the Garden of Eden has been thought to be very close to Iraq and Iran. This has also been the location that a number of human remains started to be farmers, or those who began to "till the ground" It is also interesting that the Garden of Eden used to be beautiful, with plants of all kinds but God changed that. In Genesis 3:17-18 God said cursed is the ground on your account.. In pain you will eat it's produce all the days of your life And thorns and thistles it will grow for you and you must eat the vegetation of the field.

Science has also proved that the area in which Iraq and Iran are located, used to be beautiful, and the soil was rich with vegetation, but then became a desert, this happened about 6,000 years ago. Some people do not believe this, but often science and the bible seem to go hand and hand The seem to match.

Were there humans who lived outside the Garden of Eden, at the same time Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden?

Wow, Michele, I never really thought of anyone living on the planet at the time when Adam and Eve where living in the Garden of Eden. I will have to read that again in His Word. Interesting and thought-provoking hub for sure.

Voted up ++ and sharing

Well done and deserving of proper notice. No matter how hard people try they do not, should not and can not find exclusions of probabilities in the Bible. You do great service to point out a truth so seldom grasped.

Hi Michele,

Good hub!

Just few pointers, since I love researching human history - the Harrappan civilization or the Indus Valley Civilization, happened to enter farming almost 7500 - 8000 years ago, so limiting farming knowledge to only 6000 years ago may be incorrect. Also, the Garden of Eden is something no one knows where it exists; it is only assumed to be located somewhere.. But if you read about levels of consciousness, then you would know that Garden of Eden was created at some other level of our consciousness and hence never visible to our physical selves... Therefore, it is hard to predict the age of the Garden of Eden, as also the age of the Humans who lived there...

Just my thoughts! Great job!

Hi Savio Dawson, You are correct about the beginning of farming. There are several differences about the exact date that farming started. And the Garden of Eden, people have been arguing about that for a while. I had to pick one, but maybe I should put that in the hub.

Thank you very much for your comment.

Hi Michele,

You don't have to add anything.. My comments are more like my facts vs. your facts and there is no way to ascertain which one is true.. So, we'll leave it at that.... Great hub!

Hi Michele, a thought provoking piece indeed. If in fact there were human beings existing outside the Garden of Eden at the time of Adam and Eve, historic Christianity would crumble to pieces. Let me explain. I believe you would agree that Jesus Christ is presented in Scripture as the second Adam. What's meant is that just as in Adam, all humankind share a depraved nature, so in Christ all who believe have Christ's righteous nature credited to their account. Any persons not decended from Adam and Eve would not have shared their sinful nature and thus would not be in need of salvation. Do you know anyone like that?

It seems that the pressure to find someone outside the garden is to provide for Cain a wife. You rightly point out that if he'd married his sister he would have committed incest, something forbiden in Scripture. But that prohibition is found much later in human history than the times of Adam and Eve and their immediate descendents. In the early days of the human race the negative effects of inbreeding would not have been present. Human physical nature was pristine and far more healthy than we are now. That's why they lived hundreds of years. I have not doubt that prior to the flood it was rather common to marry one's sibling or cousin. Often without even realizing it. If childbearing years extended for more than a century, it is conceivable that a first born son might marry a sister born forty years later. By then the first born might have moved out on his own and never even have met most of his siblings. So in the normal course of human interactin, he meets an attractive young lady who is 25 and he's 65. In our day we might frown on the two marrying, but not back then. That she might or might not be his sister is irrelevant.

Something new to think about, Michele. "Why was Cain so afraid of becoming a fugitive ?" Hmmmm. So that's where the spouses came from. Thanks for sharing.

liftandsoar Thank you for your comment, but the issue I am having the most problems with is the fact that human remains are about 100,00o years old. Farming started about 7,000 years ago. Were Adam and Eve the ones who helped us become humans?

Michele Travis profile image

Thank you very much MsDora.

I am still working on this one.

Michele, Adam and Eve were, in fact fully human. I don't subscribe to the young earth theory of creation. I don't know that we can determine from Scripture how long ago creation took place. If there are human remains 100,000 years old then creation must have taken place bofore then.

liftandsoar, I had not thought of it that way. Thank you for your comment very much.

Michelle - A thought provoking and well-written hub. I do think there were other people (humans) on the earth and they do date back 100,000 years and they were hunter-gatherers. You are correct "Farming, real cultivation" began in various parts of the world between 6 and 8 thousand years ago, which would seem to coincide with Adam and Eve being banished from the garden where food was plentiful.

There is a lot we may never know this side of heaven, but I think you have done a good job with the facts we do have. Blessings. Theresa

So we discussed this in our bible study.

We concluded that in order to stay in line with what the Bible says, for now, we guess that the "other" people that lived on the planet at that time were the sons and daughters of Adam. We guess that Cain married a sister or niece, because according to the way genetic defects work, Adam's children were so close to perfection that there would be no worries of genetic defects.

Adam lived around nine hundred years once outside the garden of Eden. In that time his sons and daughters may have grown exponentially, hence the Bible only says that he had "sons and daughters". It may have been to many to count and theresore we only hear about the mentioned three sons. We are also told that Eve is the mother of everyone living in Genesis 3:20.

In more recent times we have known of women who have had close to 70 children in their lifetime and men who have fathered over 800 children. We only live around 100 years or less. Can you imagine how many children Adam may have had in that time? and grandchildren?

If Eve lived at least 900 years and had just 50 children every 100 years that would be 450 children. NOw let's say that those 450 children lived just 800 years and had 50 children each 100 years. That's 180,000 children, from just 2 people. Also. they were close to perfection and this could have happened fast and in much higher quantity.

So what do you think? I'll be adding this to my article on Cain, Adam and Eve as well.

I'm intrigued here. insightful tiger, I grew up with the basic concept you show here. but bible accounts give the number of children and names of the patriarchs, so at least of those humans, I rest on what it says as descendents. besides them, I can only imagine, for no doubt at all we don't have accounts of all the characters of history surrounding biblical events. to qualify that, however, yes the bible records the different civilizations, tribes, and peoples of back then, as well as sometimes the numbers, not just of the hebrewic race, but many others. egyptians, philistines etc. but yes yes, that it mentions "others":

Lift and Soar. I easily accept the premise you made of accountability, based on Eve and our sinful nature. Good point. Michelle again you have provoked us to thought. For whatever its worth, this is valuable to know the past events.

While I don't agree with you on all of your points, I did find the Hub insightful. It made me re-look at scripture I hadn't read in a while, which is always beneficial. I to love history, especially biblical history, there is so much to be gleaned from the Bible and God shows me something new every time I pick it up.

Thanks again for making me look. Good luck with your writing!

Thank you for your comment. There is so much I have to learn when it comes to the teachings of the bible. I love God and want to learn more! God loves us so much, that is why He sent His only Son, to be sacrificed for our sins! Isn't that amazing!

This one thing I surely know. My God is real, for I can feel him in my soul! His spirit lives within me. A moment while I was driving last night happened. it was a song that, like a loudspeaker, spoke to my heart and focused my attention. The song said, the battle is won. Sin is conquered. We have overcome! - It was a reality moment for me! Our enemies are defeated and we on the winning side. Please don't base every thing you do on the "scientific".. you will miss the moment for which you were made. The moment of understanding who you really are: The awakening, and the reality of Life in Christ Jesus.

As others have said, very thought provoking. There is a constant tension to reconcile scripture with science and archeology, or to event reconcile it with itself, as there are contradictions contained within. It definitely creates challenges for those of us struggling with faith. Voted up and interesting.
