But, i AM a Believer. A Declaration of Faith

I believe in Angels

I am a believer

Emotional and Religious rigidity is counter intuitive and restricts the mind from expansion.

There is so much more to learn, and ponder, than ones narrow mindedness allows.

"I AM A BELIEVER'': Despite all those who think to the contrary:

This article was prompted by the endless insulting comments, remarks, and threats, made by the "christian" conservatives who seem to be the most prevalent members of hub pages, and the loudest most predaciously unyielding group in today's society in general (in the U.S.A.)

I specify the USA because there ARE other 'christian' like counterparts in other countries with the same religious vehemence, except with different gods that they worship.

It is all quite disconcerting for those who are able to rise above the superstitious fray, and the brainwashing that the self proclaimed believers have endured as children, which has tainted their ability to grasp logic, utilize rationalization, possess any common sense, and who totally reject the capability of having any thoughts, or actually forming any opinions, of their own.

This irrationality became apparent after recently answering a question and being told by that querier that he only wanted to hear answers from "believers".

Although, insulting, my initial response was one of pity (or perhaps sympathy) for those who have been led to believe that theirs is the only path to follow in this life, and that only the desperately needed reinforcing responses from other members of the same cult, truly matters.

A practical approach

But, [I am a believer] with a pragmatic point of view - that is to say, that in matters of religious beliefs the prevailing preferences are relating to matters of fact, or practicality, as opposed to idiomatic deism (the unique beliefs of any particular cult, sect, or religion).

Pragmatism being a practical approach to problems and affairs as opposed to supernatural, mystical, or superstitious.

This pragmatic movement in U.S. philosophy was founded by C.S. Pierce and William James, and marked by the doctrines that the meaning of conceptions, is to be sought in their practical bearings, that the function of thought is to guide action, and that truth is preeminently to be tested by practical consequences of belief.

So, embracing any ancient established belief system is not an option one should base their entire existence on, as it narrows one's view of reality, causing societal discord.

Those who limit themselves to blindly following anything based on fallacious fairytale teachings are losing out on mind expansion and intellectual growth.

It is akin to the ancient practice of binding the feet of female children to stop their physiological growth (as a false belief that this somehow enhances beauty and grace), except it is being done to the intellect instead of the physical body.

These barbaric beliefs and rituals are useless and cause irreversible physical and mental retardant, and unnecessary, strictures in the intended intellectual growth and development of a child's mind.

So, yes {i am a believer}.

I Believe in Angels

I believe in Angels

And I believer in:

  • I believe in a superior intelligence (god, if you will) that is way more advanced than anyone that currently exists on this planet. Especially as evidenced by the writings that spewed from the mind blowing scribes of yore.
  • I believe in life being something to enjoy without fear or guilt for being who we are born to be.
  • I believe in not brainwashing children into believing irrational teachings that they have no choice in.
  • i believe in compassion, empathy and spreading love - not hatred.
  • I believe in man's ability to evolve into more than we are today.
  • I believe in free will and using our minds to explore new things, ideas, and concepts, and expand to our full potential
  • I believe in equality for everyone
  • I believe in the negative impacts on society caused by the evils that are named: 'greed' and 'self serving'.
  • I believe in the ability for all persons to have a spiritual connection with our universal oneness without the need for a 'middleman'.
  • I believe in the fact that all organized religions are in the control business, above all else.
  • i believe in an after life in which we are all equal and deserving of sharing our life's experiences with one another.
  • I believe in allowing everyone to pursue their own destinies without judgement, or constraints, either physically, or emotionally by others.

These beliefs are as unyielding as those of the 'blind faith' proponents of their respective religions beliefs, are to them. But mostly i believe that humans are not accountable to one another, but to themselves alone.

When a mind is open to its natural thought processes, universal insight is gained and is invaluable to that growth and development of the ever evolving mind expansion of humanity.

Those rigid narrow visioned beliefs of the ancient past are causing us to place an invisible barrier around our minds, and in turn, causing an involuntary slowing down of that evolutionary spiritual process.

And in that retardive process, we are continuously cultivating a society of puppets who never learn how to use their intellect for expansion of knowledge.

Instead we live in fear that questioning that imaginary barrier which permits those chains of bondage to be placed around our minds and souls, will somehow bring down the wrath of God upon us.

That false belief by itself can only serve to restrict any greater expansive individual spiritual growth.

This was a great hub. Many need to see these messages over and over again. I "feel" your frustration. I just wrote a hub about the creative responsibilities/abilities of the human race. I understand this article's points, which are valid in my opinion. I also understand that if we did not have this example of the "choices" made by others, we would not have an example to go by, and learn from viewing the effects of those choices. Everything is "a part" of the whole, and even as "dis-eased" as this belief system is, it's "a part" of the process happening to mankind, at present. As healers we are able to see/feel/hear on a particularly sensitive level of awareness these conditions. To rise above the frustration this belief system can cause us, is to "take back" the power we give to these individuals and this dis-eased condition. I am not saying be passive and wishy-washy, but to show compassion and understanding and this energy is what heals and helps those who truly are lost. Love is the most powerful healer and in time the key of faith is what will open the doors to these individual's prisons of the mind/ego. Nothing will stop the evolution of mankind, or slow it. These individuals are part of the process, these individuals are part of your evolution and mine, by way of rising us to great leaps of compassion for those caught up in the lie that has contained mankind for far too long, but then again what do I know? GOD is perfect, therefore all is in perfect flow and timing. It will be those of these restrictive and power/greed/materialism beliefs that will need us when the time comes. Have faith dear sister, the time is upon us. Great message, thank you for sharing it! Look forward to more! ~Jen

Thank you for being the first to read and comment. I truly appreciate your understanding of this societal problem and not attacking me for "going against the flow". I cannot begin to tell you the awful names i have been called and the threats to my life that i have received for daring to speak against the evils of organized religions. I also knew as a child, that by doing so, it would cause my demise in a violent manner.

And i do believe also that there is a definite plan for humanity to move forward away from this planet and into the unknown of the universe, i guess one of my greatest fears is that mankind will corrupt that as well with its constant ignorance of what God intends for every individual religion that feel they have the right to condemn others because they do not belong to their particular cult.

I also believe that i, and many like me, are part of that process of spreading some enlightenment to others to try to reign in that social "dis-ease" while maintaining a good connection to the spiritual side of humanity, in unison, without all the bickering, fighting, and mayhem that currently represents our spiritual side in such a corrupted manner.

Perhaps humanity was never meant to be anything more that what it currently is, but without trying to enlighten those who tolerate that corruption, it surely will not evolve into anything but continued disharmony.

I am right there with you! I am a Mnister who does not teach how the mainstream "church" teaches and I am ridiculed, called names and have even had someone threaten me. I have had stalkers. I have had someone threaten me by telling me that they are going to contact the place that I got my Ministerial Certificate from. Most of those who do call themselves "Chris--tians" do not follow what Jesus spoke and taught about. They don't see the good that Jesus told us to go out and teach. They rather take all the discriminating things that are in the Bible and use it as some kind of sword to think they are going to have a better place in heaven. Like you, I am tired of all the name calling and the pokes with that sword they use. I am glad that you posted this hub. I have a few of my own up. One is Thanks Christians For Teaching Me..... and the other is Satan Uh I am Not. They were written years ago. Nothing changes with these people and they are in a cult. Why I say that they are in a cult...look at what they do to us that have a different view. Ask them to see the truth and they will fight your tooth and nail and call you names and other threatening things. No that is NOT a Christian and that is NOT what Jesus was all about. HUGS

Thank you so much for your kind words and support. Although i do not believe in any organized religion today (for the very reasons you state) I would certainly be inclined to join with you in your personal ministry. It is truly the time for people to open their eyes and see what they have become through their childhood brainwashing. Religion is (or should be) all about love, understanding, acceptance, and spiritual joy and happiness, not spreading hatred, bigotry and intolerance through narrow mindedness and judgmentalism.

The threats and name calling are quite disconcerting and i have often considered not writing any more about this new phenomenon of awareness and acceptance coming to pass in our society. But i also believe this has been my final calling in life to try to enlighten people to what they are contributing to society in general, and what they are not contributing at all.

Thank you. I was called to spread the truth and light, not the dark and swords. None of them believe that you reap what you sow. They have been sowing division, hatred, bigotry and the like for ,many, many years and look what they are getting right back. That they blame n some being they envision as evil and ugly or the God in which they think does everything. That is not so. They do it themselves...period. Many things are glossed over or even forgotten in their own Bibles.

I was asked once by a Catholic, what church and I trying to convert those who believe in what I teach. I said No one, because Jesus never said to go out and convert anyone.

That is one of the cornerstones of the Catholic religion, ' 'to go out and spread the word of Jesus'', to convert them to Christianity in order to save their souls, and if those intended converts refuse, they will be doomed to spend eternity in hell. That is one of the main reasons, amongst many more, that i left the catholic church as a teenager. I knew even then that what they were preaching was NOT the word of God.

According to them i am a poor soul lost to Satan and destined to spend eternity burning in hell. I have been excommunicated from the church for "allowing" my sister to marry outside the church.

Now if those words are not meant to cause guilt and fear i don't know any that would.

I always tell those who say these kind of stupid things to me: ''If going to heaven means spending an eternity with the likes of you - i will certainly opt for the alternative''. Not very charitable, but effective.

I am a believer too and my thoughts coexist with yours, to live in peaceful harmony and love is Godly, those who spew hate against another because he is different or believes differently has forgotten ' The Golden Rule ' If we all would follow this teaching, there would be no divisions. One should never argue with a believer, or non-believer for that matter. You can't win.;). Keeping an open mind and ears would help smooth the way to a better meeting of minds. I share many of the beliefs you listed, although there is one point I would appreciate some clarification.

You acknowledge that modern man is "a superior intelligence that is way more advanced than anything that currently exists on this planet. Especially as DEPICTED in the mind blowing SCRIBES OF YORE".

And in another part of the article, "So, embracing any ancient established belief system is not an option one should base their entire existence on, as it narrows one's view of reality, causing societal discord."

Is it ancient belief systems rather than ancient knowledge that you reject? Although the former is base on the latter. Can the intelligence of people who build magnificent structures, studied astronomy, wrote scholarly tomes from philosophy, mathematics to human sexual behavior be any less than modern man? Perhaps it is the interpretation that got garbled because of modern man's unhealthy eating habits. It affected his ability to think? :))

Thanks for reading and commenting.

Firstly, you have misread my comments: (I am a believer) in a superior intelligence that is way more advanced than anything that currently exists on this planet. Especially as depicted in the mind blowing scribes of yore. (meaning: i believe in a Creator(s) far more intelligent than any man that exists today, and especially in the mind blowing scribes of yore. (i will reword that so it will depict a clearer picture of what i actually meant).

Secondly, "So, embracing any ancient established belief system is not an option one should base their entire existence on, as it narrows one's view of reality, causing societal discord." was in reference to bringing ancient religious beliefs into today's world.

I have no doubt that the ancients had as much intelligence as today modern man, but their concepts of spiritualism, mysticism, ritualistic behaviors, in their beliefs associated with God, are illogical, unrealistic, and quite unbelievable.

I doubt very much if what goes into a man's mouth had anything to do with history's religious developments, but rather it was what comes out of their mouths that influenced religions of today.

Yes, it would be much easier just to ignore the stupidity that flows from the mouths of the brainwashed religious today, but when that ignorance which comes out of the mouths of the religious zealots depicts themselves as "good christians", and everyone else that does not agree with them as evil, it behooves me to speak out in protest. We can not have it both ways. Religious believers feel like they have the right to spew their hatred onto others, but others do not have the right to speak in retaliation.

Thanks. Unfortunately those who should open their hearts and minds are the ones who will not read, hear, or see anything that might contradict their narrow mindedness. They see this shunning of truth as a badge of victory for their self preservation.

Yes, yes, yes. Oh and they are the ones who also delete messages and claim that we said something that we didn't. I get tired of the Holier Than Thou people around HP especially of late on the newsfeed. They don't realize that if they are going to think or do anything that they think will get them into heaven they have already sinned big time. They have no concept of giving just to give or loving just to love. It's all some kind of game that religion has made up.

d.william profile image

Absolutely right. It is frightening that these "believers" really think that by their attacks on others they 'believe' they are scoring points with God. I guess the greater the wound they inflict the more points they score.

The actions taken against others who do not 'believe' as they do is way more point scoring than compassion, tolerance, love and understanding.

This mentality is shared by many major religions. Christians and Muslims fight each other, but are fundamentally the same in their over zealousness to please their gods. Each sect says there is only one God, and yet each one seems to worship a god with the same need for subservience, but in different ways.

Destroy others - gain more points. The Muslims do it literally (suicide bombers) and the Catholics do it figuratively (attack the gay community). The base concept is still the same and so are the results.

"and the loudest most predaciously unyielding group in today's society" ... I just wanted to second that and also let you know that I support your views 100% (even though I am not loud) :) Furthermore, I must point out that it looks like to me that you believe in EXACTLY what Jesus did ... so what is the problem? Could it be that Christians today haven't even bothered to read the Bible for themselves?

d.william profile image

Thanks again for you thoughtful comments. Since i am opposed to the repressive influences of modern day organized religious (businesses) those who believe every word in their holy books view me as some evil entity out trying to destroy Christianity.

But i do not have to try to do that as, they are destroying themselves with all their hatred and intolerance of anyone who does not fit into their brainwashed conception of the world according to the controllers of their lives.

Jesus was but a man that was placed on a pedestal by those who were in need of a savior to free them from their suppressed lives, some 2,000 years. Believing that any "man" can possibly be God and worshiping such a man, is an affront to the intelligence of the Universal Oneness.

Why would a God speak in confusing parables, and come to earth to be killed by a government who obviously had greater control over people that Jesus did. With an end result of nothing having changed in their world, and only gotten worse over the past centuries.

When people accepted Jesus as their savior, and were not 'saved', they now cling to the belief that there will be a re-visitation by J.C. - to do what?

I am sure our "creators" had a plan for humanity, but humanity has diverted that plan from its rails by its very ignorance.

There is a saying i recently read that sums it all up better than i could:

"Humanity is lost within the material world. Self serving captivates the connection between all things and we have lost our sense of oneness with the universe"

d.william profile image

d.william 2 years ago from Somewhere in the south Author

stand: there is no disrespect intended in voicing an opposing opinion. On hubpages when the religious inductees throw something out there, they are seldom looking for anyone to 'disagree' with their beliefs.

They are generally looking for the approval of like minded people to help them with their struggle to belong to something that rejects them by the very virtue of their birth rights.

Being an outsider to any organized religion, i do not have that need for approval of my beliefs. These are my personal beliefs, based on common sense and logic, and after many hours of meditation in which clarity comes via my spiritual guides. If we have an open mind we can logically deduce what is right and what is wrong. When there is any kind of judgment being made, by any man on another, it is to be rejected immediately.

No man shall ever judge me based on their personal belief system.

I do not judge others, but i will readily voice an opposing position if i feel that the position they are taking is self destructive in nature.

We do not need the approval of men who cannot think for themselves, but who can only quote from their flawed teachings to defend their positions. The only approval we need in this life is from ourselves. Either we like who we are, or we do not. Genetics chose the man, man did not chose the genetics. We are who and what we are meant to be, and no one has the right to tell us otherwise.

When any religion judges those who do not belong to their specific cult, it is not the same as pointing out someones closeness to destructive behaviors.
