I Dreamed the Other Night

I Dreamed the Other Night

I dreamed that death came the other night

And, as Heaven’s gates swung wide,

With kindly grace an angel ushered me inside.

There to my astonishment

Stood folks I’d known on earth

But had judged and labeled

As unfit and of little worth.

Indignant words rose to my lips

But never were set free,

For every face showed stunned surprise –

No one had expected me!

James 4:11-12

The poem above was from a newspaper years ago. It found a permanent place in my home. The poem convicted me. I began my personal mission to ensure there would be no surprise for anyone on my return home.

Our place is not to judge but to prepare for the judgment, to work on the purification of our heart so as to be found, near perfect as possible, when standing before Christ. Working and striving for as many crowns to possibly receive for placement at His feet. What an honor that will be!

Be careful not to set yourself so lofty, to be so inflexible suffocating compassion for the lost, losing the ability to see past their outward appearance. It is the spirit and physical man that we minister to, in hopes that same spirit will join us in eternity!
