I Give You Spring

"For, lo, the Winter is past, the rain is over and gone, the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of the birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land."

-Song Of Solomon 2:11

Look to your left and to your right. What do you see? A gray sky stenciled with blackened trees? My people, do not be disheartened by the cold snap of Winter. My creation needs this period of rest while I set the stage for new life throughout my planet.

Observe the earth as she awakens from her dormant sleep. The curtains part, and Behold! It is the beginning of a new day.

I take the sun in My hands and marble it with colors of salmon and blush. I splatter it against the gray-black sky. The silence of dawn is broken by the warble of a homecoming robin.

Listen to the sound of approaching geese. Do you not hear the peepers on a distant meadow pond and the rat-a-tat-tat of the redheaded woodpecker?

Earth's foliage has sprung out like Aaron's rod. Plants, trees and bushes are bringing forth buds and yielding blossoms.

Step into a land flowing with maple sap and babbling brooks. Enjoy the scent of the white waxen lily, lavender hyacinth and crimson tulip. Savor the sweet air as I perfume velvet-green hills with indigo forget-me-nots and paraffin-yellow buttercups. Inhale the essence of the golden dandelion and dark-green spearmint leaf. Relish the scent of mauve crabapple trees that attract the tiny green metallic hummingbird and the sleek bumble bee.

Who can match the dapper striped jack-in-the-pulpit or the grackle that I clothe in an irridescent black silk jacket? I dip the olive finch in gold. I paint the tanager a bright scarlet and I give you the song of the tangerine oriole.

I penetrate all nature with a Technicolor masterpiece for your pleasure.

I not only give you Spring as My season of hope, I have wonderful news: Those of you who do not know Me, I offer you the gift of eternal life and deliverance from your sins which I nailed to the cross. Come unto Me all of you who are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Invite Me into your heart as your personal Lord and Savior and I will forever abide with you and in you.

Like the colors of Spring, My gift of salvation is free.

When you accept Me, you become like Spring, for you are a new person. You are reborn.

Blessings, Sparklea

Beautiful work, Lea! It reminds me of The God Memorandum by Og Mandino. If you have never read it, look it up online. I know you will love it.

Have a wonderful weekend my friend.

Oh my goodness my precious friend, Sparklea!!! This is so glorious to honor our God and His astounding creation and the renewal that happens during Spring! I used that same scripture in my Spring poem too towards the end, except mine said turtledove. That is so fun that we thought of the same scripture about Winter being past and thinking of Spring.

This amazing write here this day has blessed me beyond measure. You are such a treasure and a beautiful daughter of the King.

Voted up ++++ and sharing

God bless you. In His Love Always, Faith Reaper

You lift my spirits. You take something like the change of seasons, that we often take for granted, and turn it into a beautiful experience that reminds us of all of the gifts the Father has given us. Thank you for reminding me of what is out there to see and experience. Thank you for your story. Thank you for outlook on life and thank you for sharing your faith in God with us.

Take care my friend.

billybuc: Your loyalty is unsurpassed, THANK YOU for taking time to read this hub.

I can't believe you mentioned Og Mandino! I have read several of his books, and I wrote him a personal letter in the fall of 1989.

He responded! He sent me a letter on his personal stationery, dated September 18, 1989. He said, "Just sit down and start writing that book, lady. We can always find a hundred reasons why we'll begin tomorrow, rather than now...Do it!"

He concluded his letter with, "Start writing that book. No excuses. God will guide you.' Warmest regards," then signed the letter, "Og Mandino."

I consider it to be one of my valued possessions...I framed it, and it hangs on my wall in my writing room to this day.

Even though I have been distracted, I AM working on my book every day.

DETERMINED to finish it this year.

I think Og Mandino has passed since. I will look up the God Memorandum.

Thanks again! God bless, I value your feedback. Blessings Sparklea :)

Larry thank you from my heart for your visit and your positive feedback.

Since my surgery and illness, I check out every bush, every sprout, every sign of green on my morning walks. The day before my surgery last November, I saw a phlox plant in the church yard. It had two flowers left, struggling to stay alive as long as possible.

I took a photo of that plant, and I focused on it all throughout my recovery period.

When I was finally able to return to my walks in early January, the plant had a few brown stalks. I have checked it out every day. Now green sprouts are coming up and I cannot wait until it blooms so that I can take another picture.

That plant spoke to me...It sustained me...I KNEW I could arise like a phoenix out of the ashes of illness. The picture from last November is on my cell phone and I will cherish it always...It is also on our computer.

Nature has never meant so much to me since my having been sick. God was in it all. Blessings, Sparklea :)

Deborah: Oh, THANK YOU so much for sharing and for your positive feedback...Yes, God is SO good and Spring means so much to me, especially because of the resurrection. I believe we as humans can resurrect from anything...if we trust in the Spirit within to manifest Himself through us. I don't know what I would do if not for having a God to trust every minute of every day. Blessings, Sparklea :)

I was standing outside today enjoying the fresh spring air and thought of how appropriate your message matched my thoughts. The earth is truly a place of beauty isn't it? God is good.

teaches12345: Spring is symbolic of the resurrection of Christ, in my opinion. I cherish every new bud, every green sprout, even the dandelions and violets sprinkled on our lawns.

THANK YOU for taking time to read this and for your uplifting comments. God bless you real good, Sparklea :)

After being in the house all winter it is time learn from the birds who spread their wings and fly.Singing praise in the early morning and enjoy the sunshine and beauty all day through. You have brought a wonderful Spring so I can appreciate it even more than before.Thanx so much.I enjoy this hub very much.

THANK YOU, DREAM ON! I take my camera with me on my morning walks. This morning I spotted a HUGE ?hawk? in a tree in the church parking lot up the street. Tried to get a picture. As I looked at the trees behind, there were TWELVE of them. I googled turkey hawk, and they are birds of prey. I think that is what they are.

I shoo'd a bunny into some bushes. Never have I seen that number of hawks in one spot. A gigantic feather was on the ground and I brought it home to show my husband.

I am in awe of God's creation and beauty. Thank you for your comments and for taking time to read this. SO very much appreciated. Blessings Always Sparklea :)

Outside and we added five fish to a little pond in our yard.My wife used rustoleum on the yard furniture to make it look like new.It started to rain so we headed in.Only after a black fly had bit me.You never see them but you feel them later.Bugs are not my favorite things.

Sparklea profile image

Sparklea 3 years ago from Upstate New York Author

The one bug I DO not like is the fly, especially black flies. Ladybugs and cicadas are beautiful creatures, as well as dragon flies...over the years I am used to spiders which I previously feared. Living up North, we don't get the big fuzzy ones as often as those who live down South do.

My sister has a pond with bull frogs. Ponds are so peaceful, and fish make them even more beautiful. Thank you for your comments. Blessings, Sparklea :)

Well I have an old saying referring to writing - if you write from the heart the mind shall always follow - and you most certainly succeed on both counts my friend as you always bless your readers with a personal, profound and soulful approach with your very beautiful writing style.

I will be honored to post your page here on my FB page once again and yes it's so nice to meet you on this sunday morning from lake erie time canada 11:04am

And as you know , lol, we could both probably go from spring to summer and then back to spring again, but that said it's part of our lives to embrace all four seasons and winter and fall are both beautiful in their own way.

Sending good energy your way from Colin, Little Miss Tiffy and Mister Gabriel

THANK YOU AGAIN epigramman! Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons. I don't even mind Winter. July is probably my least favorite month because the humidity in Upstate New York can be unbearable...In August, hints of Fall, and cool morning walks, which I LOVE.

I so appreciate your taking time to visit this hub. I've never been to Lake Erie, but I know people who have, and they say it is awesome and beautiful.

God bless you real good! Pouring rain here right now...wish I could ride a time capsule to Lake Erie where the sun is shining! Sparklea :)

Beautiful. Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes "where there is life, there is hope" Cicero. That is what Spring is. Full of life and hope. You captured the essence of Gods most excellent creations, wonderfully. You also captured the essence of His most wonderful gift...His Son and the hope of eternity through Him and with Him. It also reminds me of one of my hubs, a poem entitled Life And Its Changing Seasons. In it I try to capture the circle of life in all of creation, and the beauty of Spring and the new life that it represents, but also the importance (as epigramman eluded to above) and the beauty of the scars of days past, through winter and fall and summer. Thank you for sharing your beautiful words. I will be sharing :-)

Spring is always so beautiful. I only have daffodils and hyacyinths blooming. I can't wait for the others. My bleeding heart isn't doing anything yet and lilacs always bloom at Mother's Day. It doesn't look like that will happen this year.

Sparklea profile image

Sparklea 2 years ago from Upstate New York Author

Barbara, our weather is so bad here...39 degrees tonight and pouring rain for the next 2 days. Daffodils are finally out and a few tulips. That's about it. I think the rain is going to ruin the petals on our crabapple trees that are trying to bloom. But the robins are here and Spring is on its way. :)

Great to find this if even if a couple of springs late; God's beauty never changes. I can only imagine Heaven if God gave us such beauty here what it must be like in His presence and I look forward to that! Sharing this for this spring I see just at the door!

Blessings always; sister!

Jackie, thank you so much!!! I am waiting for a robin sighting! FINALLY in the 30's after a bitter cold winter. But I DO love winter as it is a quiet season...no lawn mowers, tree killers, leaf blowers...I appreciate so much your stopping by. Blessings, Sparklea :)

What a beautiful thing to read on this day of the year as the earth is producing those colorful vestments of Spring. Nice tie to the Creator of all of these glorious colors in plants and animals. PEGGY W: Thank you so much! We have had a very harsh bitter cold winter this year, and we still have a lot of snow, but it is a great 37 degrees here which is like a heat wave since we have had consistent below zero weather for weeks! And SUN, praise God! Thank you for taking time to read this and for your lovely note. Blessings, Sparklea :)
