In Defence of Creation

Some people certainly do have a lot of misconceptions about the bible, and I suspect people who claim lack of evidence about biblical truths are sometimes staring at truths, seeing but not perceiving, hearing but not understanding. The scientific discipline is pregnant with experts but remain sneeringly short of a uniformed consensus on any given issues in their field. Scientist broadly disagree on issues of importance and to therefore used these changing concepts as a means of denying creation of the highest order testifies of a heart yet in the dark and in need of enlightenment. Darwin had to modify some of his works, when Thomas Huxley challenged his theory of natural selection he admitted, “That in the earlier editions of ‘The Origin of the Species’ I probably attributed too much to the action of natural selection or the survival of the fittest…I had not formally sufficiently considered the science of many structures which appear to be, as far as we can judge, neither beneficial or injurious; and this I believe to be one of the greatest oversights as yet detected in my work”. How can anyone have confidence in a field that one day a so-called breakthrough is lauded to be knocked down the next by another exciting and newly discovered concept?

The Holy Scriptures revealed mans failures and need of atonement but it does not state that humanity exist only to atone, rather what it states is God created a perfect world where He placed mankind who by the behest of an archrival disobeyed His creator plunging the world into darkness and chaos. God hates evil, but He loves mankind, and instead of taking mankind out of the picture He willing offered His son to atone for mans mistakes. Christ atoning blood offers mankind a way of escaping the deep gulf he has fallen into and which now separated between him and God. He therefore has a need for atonement which he could not do of himself, only God could do that. Humanity could not atone for himself, it therefore required a substitute to atone for mans sins. God Loves mankind friends, and proved it by offering a way for us to get out of our sin pit, settled our debt, offering life instead of death, including all of you who denied Him, “That sure makes life worth living”.

Because we fail to see an ‘Intelligent designer’, won’t destroy the truth that He is, and that He will reward you if you seek Him. If you stayed in your house and refuse that there is sun outside to go out, doesn’t necessarily mean there is no sun, it is just your belief. A fish coming from the bottom of the sea and speak of earthquake I am more likely to believe, because he was there. The people who were divinely inspired to write the Holy Scriptures wrote of their experiences, as testimony for us. It’s our choice whether we accept it or not, but don’t destroy other people’s faith because you cannot understand it. The intelligence behind the universe and man’s design are what makes it complex to man not to God, and why scientist cannot come to a common understanding of how they work. Everyday scientist disagree with each other, books after books appeared destroying yesterdays concept, many scientist believe in a creator many others don’t you chose the side of those who don’t, why? Many people deny the existence of a God because of some personal trauma, or circumstances which affected their thinking. Charles Darwin the father of evolution a case in point, his beloved daughter fell ill, he desperately and urgently sought God to save her, but his daughter died. He was so traumatized and many analysts believe he never got over this hurt, which led him down the path of questioning whether God exist. He spent the rest of his life trying to prove God doesn’t exit.

The biblical narratives are not based on scientific research findings, but rather on pure historical sequence of events passed down orally through generations of families until man developed the skill to write it on paper. But what are these scientific evidences you spoke of? Listen to what you say “The universe is estimated at 14.5 billion years old, while our Solar System is estimated at only 4.5 billion years old”. If this is what we offer as evidence, we need to think again, because there are no specifics here but mere speculation, and by the next reading it could go up to an estimated 6 billion? Scientist Peter Atkins wrote, “When we first begin to believe anything, what we believe is not a single proposition, it is a whole system of propositions”. You cannot rely on scientific prepositions or continuing experiments which are never conclusive. Just recently a report came over the airwaves and appeared in many types of newsprint, offering an introduction to our “great aunt Ardi”. Anthropologist claimed “Ardi” roamed the forests in Africa, the area known today as Ethiopia some 4.4 billion years ago, over 1 million years before “Lucy” the previously acclaimed earliest skeleton of our human ancestor. The most exciting bit of this breaking news story is the claim that rather than the previous claim of humans evolving from an ancient chimp-like creature, the new evidence reveals that human and chimps evolved from common ancestor but “each evolved and changed separately”. In the words of Biologist Professor Tim White, we do not share a common ancestry as previously thought, “But it’s the closest we have ever been able to come”.

To claim the “universe is more like a bad experiment than it is an intelligent design” is nothing short of ignorance and blindness to a T. The uniqueness of the universe is open for all to see, the interplanetary movements, the symmetry, the uniqueness of the sun rising everyday, the moon at night, the seasons of the year, the environment, the breath you breath speaks volume and shout God’s praise, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands…Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge…There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard”
(Psalm 19: 1-3). Science has no answer to the creative process, and will continue to be in the dark if his effort to prove a creation relies on laboratory experiments. Writer Duane Gish declared, “By creation we mean the bringing into being by a supernatural Creator of the basic kinds of plants and animals by the process of sudden, or fiat, creation. We do not know how the Creator created, what processes He used, for He used processes which are not now operating anywhere in the natural universe. This is why we refer to creation as a special creation. We cannot discover by scientific investigations anything about the creative processes used by the creator”.

I agree that the weather system on Earth and in the heavens as well, “filled with space debris, meteors, asteroids and dead planets and dead stars” they truly can be deadly, Prevalence in disease both in man and animals yes, but not a fault design! When sin came to the world all things created suffers the consequences, but God promises He will restored what Satan has destroyed. “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope…Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God (Rom. 8: 19-21). For the Oxford educated Christian Theologian, Aubrey Moore (1843-90) the facts of nature are the facts of God he wrote, “There are not, and cannot be, any Divine interpositions in nature, for God cannot interfere with Himself. His creative activity is present everywhere. There is no division of labour between God and nature, or God and law”.

You certainly do err when it comes to faith but I understand your predicament like all the evolutionist you support, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see…This is what the ancients were commended for” (Heb. 11:1-2). You are light years away from this; a removal from this kind of faith is blindness which in your state, until God shed His light into your heart you cannot reason spiritually. “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Cor. 2:14). This kind of faith is not about Santa Clause this concept taken from a Coke advertisement and adapted into Christmas advertisement, has no place here. The faith I am talking about you will never understand because you shut your mind from receiving knowledge. It comes to those who God reveals Himself to in Christ, its more powerful than you can ever imagine. Mankind wants to prove things; only things that makes sense in his test tube will he accept. Well you cannot prove God by the physical world around you because God is not matter, He is of spiritual stuff, and He is outside of His creation, not part of it. Many of the fathers of modern science whatever their nationalities were unanimous in their views that a study of the Holy Scriptures was both duty and delight. Johannes Kepler, wrote to Galileo, “I yearned to discuss with you, most accomplished Galileo, in a highly agreeable kind discourse, the many undisclosed treasures of Jehovah the Creator, which He reveals to us one after another. For who is permitted to remain silent at the news of such developments? Who is not filled with a surging love of God, pouring itself copiously forth through tongue and pen? The great Galileo later reflected, “For the Holy Bible and the phenomena of nature proceed alike from the divine Word, the former as the dictate of the Holy Ghost and the latter as the observant executrix of God’s commands. A hundred passages of Holy Scripture…teach us that the glory and greatness of Almighty God are marvelously discerned in all his works and divinely read in the open book of heaven”.

Christianity and believing in God is not about a blind faith as you claim and of course the same charge could be labeled against the evolution theory. For how many Charles Darwin are there and how many people who accept that theory are evolutionist? Have you personally taken your sabbatical to the Galapagos Islands and gather the substance from around the world to reach your conclusions? Well then, you like many others have your “stock answer to any question” yet not all. For if I tell you I detest any human being with a blind hate, how do you prove that? Is it by me telling you or do you have some formula to put in a tube to test the dimensions of hate? Secondly if we all evolved, as they claim how come the specie from which we evolved are still visible and in evidence today? The law of evolution says when something evolved from one state to another the original specie dies to make way for the new, but I presume the Charles Darwin students already have a “stock answer” to this? The intelligent designer of which I spoke, just like the potter have power over the lump of clay, shaped you the way you came into the world, but you determined your own destiny. The farmers will take their flocks to green pastures and direct them to the water hole but they can never force them to eat or drink. Christ said, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world" (John 6: 51).This the message of salvation, the best story ever told, evolution frustrates and destroy faith, in God the creator, and His Christ who gives hope. “When I consider what marvelous things and how many of them men have understood…I recognize and understand only too clearly that the human mind is a work of God’s and one of the most excellent” (Galileo). Fitting endorsements for creations from the scientific field don’t you think?

Sedge, God could have wipe the world clean and start again! God set a time when He will come and restore paradise which satan has stolen from man. Also your point would have made much more sense if it was true, only He - God is not causing us - humans to suffer because of our first parents. What we suffer is not Gods fault either, but satans who deceived our first ancestors causing them to turn their backs on God. Satan continues to offer the same temptation to us today and most of humanity continue to make the same mistake in chosing satans way over God's. A Holy, and just God who cannot tolerate sins could in one mighty blow or just from the breath of His mouth wipe mankind from the perfect world He had created. What we suffer today is not because of God, and He is definitely not punishing us because of Adam and Eve. The consequences of their actions pervades the world yes, but we have choices and we can chose God's way over satans evil ways. God had a special love for man, still has, and rather than destroy him, made a way for him to excape the predicament he had fallen into. No sin goes unpunished and so someone had to die for that breach to be corrected. Man was in sin, spiritual chains of darkness and could not save or redeem himself. Only a sinless person could redeem him, so God offered His only Son to save him, so instead of death he could see life. God offer us redemption from our sins through His son, if we beleive in Him we will be saved from final death. Make no mistake, sin and its consequences will be punished and eradicated from the world but not until mankind understand that God do not desire to Kill him but freely offered life through Christ. The whole world suffers the pain of sins consequences, just like a mother having birth pains, but when the child is born she forget the pains and concentrate on the little bundle of joy she brought into the world with so much love potential. Through the first Adam all will die, but through the second Adam - Christ, all will be made alive.

But surely a deity who is omni-benevolent would not let others suffer due to the sins of two.

In a few words Hi-Jinks, they did absolutely nothing! Just the same way our parents and grandparents did not cause the sinful influence which governs our world and affect us all today. If I can help you understand a little bit more let me start at the beginning. Sin happens in the Garden of Eden between the first human parents, that original sin creates the “sinful” environment in which we live today, “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me”(Ps. 51: 5). Many bible scholars use this verse, to come up with a multiplicity of meanings which greatly affects our understandings of the author’s message. For instance some go so far as to teach that “shapen in iniquity” meant that sex, the process of conception is sinful. Of course the bible teaches that sex is good and undefiled, that sexual union between a man and his wife is pure. However a wrong translation of these verses causes much of the present day negative taboo about sex. What then is the message the author wanted to convey? From an Hebrew root word, translated “shapen” (KJV) or “formed” as in the womb. His message, he was “conceived” or formed in a sinful environment. How did this come about? Did God not create a perfect world? Go back to the three first chapters in Genesis where it all began and you get the answer. Adam and Eve our ancestors were tempted and unable to resist yield and sinned causing misery to their offspring, descendants, that is you and I (Gen. 3: 15-24). Things are not always made that straight forward in the KJV as words used then by translating from the Latin into “Old English” Anglo Saxon words have now changed in meaning, people don’t’ talk like that anymore either. Read from a different translation and the picture becomes much clearer, “Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me” (NIV). The authors message is much clearer, neither the process of conception, nor the seed sins at birth, but rather the seed was delivered in an environment populated by sinful habits and attitude. Why then, if we didn’t commit sin do we suffer? How about the once beautiful Oak tree, the plants, the dog, the birds, the Deer, all the animals, what sins have they committed? God nevertheless gave that hope of redemption through the woman’s seed “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel (Gen 3: 15). Friend it’s about the original sin, through one man (and wife) sin entered the world and humanity many generations later are suffering the consequences, including the animals and inanimate objects. Dead planets and wayward moons and debris in the environment above must be included because of Adams sin which has brought disaster to the whole universe! God offered a way out both for man and the universe, the entire universe will be delivered at the time God delivered mankind. “The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed…For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope…that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God…We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time” (Rom 8:19-22 NIV).

What great sin does a Oak Tree have? A dog or a bird? Corn gets a blight. Deer gets a brain disease. Mad cow disease. These are not God'd will or man's vices.

Unabashed Liberal Jake, you take what I said far too personally, my reference to you living in another world were not meant to be personal or offensive, if this upsets you I apologize. I was merely making the point that with the preponderance of evidence in the public domain, “evolution without an intelligent designer” in media, taught in schools and wider society; it’s amazing that you could missed them. America is predominantly a Christian country, and the principles of evolution may not be as strong as in Europe, where concerted efforts are made to remove God and creation from all school curriculum. They cite the lack of proof for creation, and points to the overwhelming prove of science to evolution. Secondly, you like many scientists have made obvious mistakes of trying to prove the existence of God out of matter which can never be proven, because God is not made of matter, God is Spirit. God did not create the universe of spirit stuff; in fact there was nothing, a vast emptiness. The Genesis account declares a wide expanse of space totally empty. God brought elements together and create what we now have the universe out of nothing. Then man who He made out of that matter He brought together, have the potential to become like God, a spiritual being. Now if you are aware of the works of Charles Darwin whose, Origin of the Species work is used by evolutionist educators to deny God said, “Although I did not think much about the existence of a personal God until a considerably later period of my life, I will here give the vague conclusions to which I have been driven. The old argument of design in nature, as given by Paley, which formerly seemed to me so conclusive, fails, now that the law of natural selection has been discovered. We can no longer argue that, for instance, the beautiful hinge of a bivalve shell must have been made by an intelligent being, like the hinge of a door by man. There seems to be no more design in the variability of organic beings and in the action of natural selection, than in the course which the wind blows. Everything in nature is the result of fixed laws”. Nicolas Steno (16-17century) was the pioneer of modern geology, but his works have been kidnapped by evolutionist to deny God. His principles of “stratigraphy” have stood the test of time. They are still taught in first year geology courses all over the world, and used every day in the field by professional geologists. However, most geologists do not realize that Steno was a Bible believing creationist. That is not acknowledged when Steno is taught in geological schools. However, Steno was the first person ever to describe the geological history of any area of the earth, and he described it within a biblical geological framework. Because Steno is such a giant of geology, modern uniformitarian geologists (who seem paranoid of the Bible) will not generally acknowledge Steno’s biblical beliefs. If they do, they will usually disparage them to discredit the biblical foundation for Steno’s pioneering work. Steno gave a description of Tuscany where he resides as it was and compared his findings to two fluid phases which he declared corresponded to the two occasions recorded in the Bible when the earth was entirely covered with water: the Creation week and the Flood event. His two level-and-dry phases correspond to the first parts of the pre-Flood era and the post-Flood era. The two phases when the earth was broken correspond to other parts of the pre- and post-Flood eras, to times when Steno envisaged the mountains were pushed up and the valleys were formed. Steno makes general reference to Tuscany and places he has examined, “But in order that no one may be alarmed by the novelty of my view, in a few words I shall set forth the agreement of Nature with Scripture by reviewing the chief difficulties which can be urged regarding the different aspects of the earth”. Here Steno clearly says his ideas agree with Scripture. Steno went on to say, “In regard to the first aspect of the earth Scripture and Nature agree in this, that all things were covered with water; how and when this aspect began, and how long it lasted, Nature says not, Scripture relates. From the Bible (Genesis 1) Steno knows that the earth was originally covered with water until the third day of the Creation Week when dry land first appeared, So why is his name and works used to deny God? Your guess is as good as mine, as there are many scientist, geologist, evolutionist who advocate the existence of God, but clearly many deny Him.

Kenny MG, if there are athiests among evolutionists, then so what? There are athiests among most other fields of work as well. One athiest or even two does not mean that one has to declare athiesm before being entered into the hallowed halls of evolutionary theory membership.

Whether or not God created everything is a matter of religious belief, not scientific theory. Indeed, by its very nature this idea can not be hypothesized and answered by science. You might as well understand that and accept it, just as religion can't solve the question of how to do my math homework. They are completely separate from each other, although one can believe in one, both or neither if one wishes to.

One other point that seems to get lost in the argument is that evolution does not pose the question of how life began. The pure Theory of evolution merely states that life changes over time and new species arise from older species.

Anything more than this or apart from this dwells in other aspects of biological science.

James B, where in the entire theory of evlution does it state that there is no God? All it says is that changes in species occur and bring about new species. Evolution does not offer any insight into how life began, or how everything else began. Those ideas rest in a completely different area of sc ience. The Theory of Evolution merely states that changes in genetic information cause changes in species.

Now, as for living in another world, if you are a Christian you should rejoice in that, shouldn't you, since you are in the world but not of it? Maybe in your world things get done by divine whim, but here you are pretty hard-pressed to point out the logic and reality of God in any way shape or form. You believe God exists, and it may be that God does exist, but other than your belief, there is no way to prove to the rest of the world that you are right. Heck, most Christians can't even agree on how to worship God, much less what He is doing. How much more so between followers of different interpretations of God as given to them?

I have heard from so many on these hubs that you can just find the truth in the Bible and then I see these same folks fighting it out over just what the Bible says! If interpreting Biblical scripture were as easy as some folks claim, we'd all be on the same page, wouldn't that be so?

Unabashed Liberal Jake, living in Chicago, obviously in another world.

I agree with you, Unabash Liberal must be living in another worl. The whole evolutionary theory is about reasong the existence of a unique world by chance, and not by an intellegent designer. To say the theory of evolution is not about denying God, is being economical with the truth.

Unabashed Liberal, maybe we are not reading the same books, or watching the same TV documentaries, so clearly we are not singing from the same hymn sheet. There is a TV series about "The Genious of Darwin" as well as an evolutionist Oxford university Professor Dawkins who made repeated and consistent comments about understanding a world without God. These are prominet experts in their field, declared atheist and evolutionists, who points to the big bang which formed the earth, the million of years of the earth existence, of bacteria starting in the sea, before our human ancestors crawled out in the form of animals on land before we evolve to modern day man over millions of years. On each weekly programme they have many other professors all specialist in their field, presented a large animal, Elephants, Whales etc. which they cut to peices on TV in order to find and show fault in design . They point out any failure as to why the system in a Giraffe neck is faulty and would have been designed better if there was an "intellegent Designer behind it all. They then post a logo on the side of buses in the city of London which read, "There probably is no God, so enjoy your life". Your point that "God probably used evolution to get things done" is the middle of the road theory employed by a growing number of evolutionist. However, the core principle of the evolutionary theory is proving how a world came into existence without an "intellegent designer" namely God. They consistently claim there is no God, and say people who hold such beleifs are dilusional and most likely people who grew up with suspicion and beleiving in ghost.

Defend all you want to, that is your right, but Evolution does not even have anything to do with whether or not a Creator is behind it all. God may have used evolution to get things done for all I know. But people want to fight over it as if evolution somehow denies God exists. It doesn't even address that question. One might as well argue that because we build Volkswagens God doesn't exist. It makes just as little sense.
