Interpretation of Dreams

The most unique about human being is to dream while sleeping. Unlike other mammals and other animals, we dream with colors. The closer link is attributed to apes that were proven to also dream with colors; the rest, scientists say, dream with no colors.

Apart from it, our dreams have different levels and can be interpreted according to our age brackets.

  1. If you have a happy childhood, happiness can be associated with happy dreams. It's opposite among children who have violent episodes due to parents' abuses. Dreams become nightmares; recurrence that can lead to mental insanity.
  2. Youthful dreams of teenage crushes, puppy love or first love. Sexual awakening is apparent that dreams will leave some results on bed sheets.
  3. Adult dreams that portrayed fulfillment of ambition, contentment in life or the opposite.

Personal experiences have both positive and negative effects on the aftermath of every dream.

Nightmarish dreams can lead to death. Most will say that our conscience will evaluate our deeds and it can judge the person by way of dreams.

Do a good turn daily so that you'll have a happy dream.

Sigmund Freud, the Father of Psychoanalysis, was the first to give interpretations to dreams. He believed that our dreams have direct connection with our awareness and existence. Dr. Freud said that it is the way of our mind to bring out what's our hidden or secret desires.

Aristotle, one of great Greek philosophers, said that dreams come in the heart of every man.

In the modern outlook, dream is an integration of new information in our memory. It can also mean symbolism of images that is different from our logical thinking.

In early centuries, dreams were believed to be spiritually-related, signifying things o situations that will happen in the future, as in the prophecies in the Holy Bible. Joseph used it to warn people of the great famine that plagued Egypt and nearby countries for seven years.

Nowadays, dreams are being used as clinical treatment. Studying human emotions, like fear or sadness are being analyzed because of dreams and how our brain function when dreaming.

I'm still dreaming of something I always forget when I wake up. Some of my dreams are recurring that it's like reading pocketbook full of new chapters.

@Binaya.Ghimire: Thank you on your hub-visit and leaving some insights. Me, too; I believe that the power of our brain is unlimited, although we can only use 10 percent of it, as scientists proved in many researches they conducted.

@thesailor: Thanks. I got intrigued on the interpretation of dreams that palm readers and fortune tellers suggest. Well, most of it are true. One thing for sure, a blown-up picture of your loved ones you've dream of means a warning of death. I've dreamed of it twice and it signified a terrible loss in my family.

@earthbound1974: Recurring dream means you have a task waiting to be fulfilled. It serves as a reminder that you have a responsibility for that job. I hope this answers your dilemma.

@mib56789: You're absolutely right, Ms. Treathyl. We dream a lot, although only some of it will be remembered once you are awaken. It means the subconscious part of our brain is working to refresh our memory while we're sleeping. :D

@Denise Handlon: You're welcome, Ms. D. I became interested in interpreting dreams, because my mom had her own files on how dreams become part of our lives. His father (my grandpa) gave her the list. I'm just waiting she'll hand it to me, too.

That is so cool, T.M.! Thanks for that added info-lucky you, you have a first hand 'tutor' for dream interpretation.

Thanks, again, Ms. D. My mom don't want me to be a fortune teller. My grandfather who's good at Latin language and white sorcery advised my mother to never used it as a means of living. I dreamed about my grandfather as if saying something last year. I'm his dead ringer (he's just a six-footer while I'm just over 5'7"). My mom cautioned me to never follow his footsteps.

That I'm doing right now.
