Is Everyone Possessed?

I can’t tell you how marveled and astonished I am at the number of false prophets I’ve encountered.  One cannot recognize ‘false’ unless he knows ‘truth’.  The truth to one person is different than the other, so each views the other as false.  God’s Word is the Judge, amen (John 12:48)!  We must rightly divide it (2 Tim 2:5), for “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6).  As I ponder on the scriptures, my mind is asking, “Is everyone possessed?”  Why would I even think such a thing?

Earth and Heaven

I am inclined to wonder about the spiritual realm being directly connected to the physical realm. Consider the words of Jesus found in the following passages:

Mat 6:10 “Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.”

Mat 16:19 “whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven

Jesus said of the latter times, just before He comes that “false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.”

Now, consider these words of Paul spoken to Timothy in 2 Tim 4:3: “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.” Well, the opposite of the truth is lies. And who is the “father of lies”? (John 8:44) The dragon, the serpent of old, the devil and Satan (Rev 12:9; 20:2).

Surely, false prophets and teachers have a following ~ the ones that will not endure sound doctrine, which means they follow unsound doctrine, or what the Bible calls the “doctrines of demons”. 1 Tim 1:4 states, “But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons”.

Who are these “deceitful spirits” that teach “doctrines of demons”? It appears to be mankind, people.

Beware of False Prophets

We are told in 1 John 4:1 “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

Then, we are told by Paul in 1 Cor 14:32 that “the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets”.

Have you ever read 2 Chron 18:18-22? If not, read this passage in its entirety. Verses 20-21 state, "Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD and said, 'I will entice him.'

'By what means?' the LORD asked.

'I will go and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,' he said...

Spirits speak through people, if they don’t indeed possess them. Why are these false prophets and teachers so deceived? I don’t think they intentionally lie, having a heart of flesh. Of course, some have their “consciences seared with a hot iron” (1 Tim 4:2). The Word says they deceive themselves first! (Gal 6:3; Jam 1:26). This would indicate they obtained faith in doctrines of demons from somewhere: either by their own “spiritual enlightenment” or perhaps from a conglomerate of false information (read or heard), thereby allowing the lying spirit(s) to use them to teach and preach to others. This gives new light to the words of Jesus in Mat 13:16, doesn’t it? “But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear.”

Children

Now, children are an interesting topic. The Bible tells us “of such is the kingdom of heaven” (Mat 19:14). Why? Because they have faith in whatever they’re told. They trust. While we are to be childlike when it comes to faith in God, we are not to remain as children, being tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine! (Eph 4:14) There comes an “age of accountability” when we choose to whom we will be “enslaved”. Rom 6:16 confirms, “Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?”

Possession and Embodiment

Some “false prophets” and those who listen to them believe that Satan and demons aren’t real. All they have to do is look in the mirror! Of course, no man can see his own human spirit, let alone the spirit(s) influencing or possessing him. How does one explain Legion possessing that man in the region of Gerasenes? Surely, Legion was called an unclean spirit (Mark 5:8), yet he spoke in plurality, “for we are many”, and ended up requesting to be sent into the herd of 2,000 pigs. Obviously, the Bible wasn’t talking about an unclean “human” spirit. A body without the spirit is physically dead, right? (James 2:26)

I personally believe angels and demons can possess or embody human beings, as well as influence them. The interesting twist in my mind is that Lucifer was the king of Babylon in Isaiah 14. Lucifer obviously fell from heaven, yet embodied a human king. Likewise, the king of Tyre was the “anointed cherub in the Garden of Eden” (Ez 28:13-14)…post-flood kings embodied by pre-flood fallen angels.

Men and Angels

Considering the word “angel”, when translated in Hebrew and Greek includes pastors, teachers, priests and kings we can deduct that fallen angels and demons include them, too. In fact, the Bible says we can entertain angels unaware (Heb 13:2). Of course, we assume these angels just pick a body (maybe a supernatural body that looks like a gardener) and then disappear; but, I wonder if there isn’t more to the big picture. Paul separates men from angels in several passages, two of which I’ll list here:

1 Cor 13:1 “If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.”

Gal 1:8 “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!” Surely, Joseph Smith, Edgar Casey and others have started huge religious movements based on doctrines of (fallen) angels that preached a contrary gospel! Likewise, when we listen to the “spirits” of these “prophets”, we know to “test them”, thereby knowing they are FALSE.

Here's yet another fascet to consider: Are believers not "transformed [into the image of Christ] by the renewing of their minds"? (Rom 12:2) If this be true, then those who are not believers are also transformed [into the image of Satan] by the poisoning of their minds. 2 Cor 11:14-15 state (KJV), "And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works." The mind certainly has something to do with it, as the "god of this world [Satan] blinds the minds of the unbelieving" (2 Cor 4:4).

Makes me ponder the words of Jesus in Mark 16:18 about believers: "and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them." Is "deadly poison" aligned with "false doctrine"? After all, we "drink of the living water" when it comes to Christ (John 4:13-14).

Paul tells us in Eph 6:12, "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." Why would we need to be told that? Because we're engaging with flesh and blood, marveled and astonished at what they believe and what comes out of their mouths?

Holy or Unholy Spirit?

When people get saved I often hear them tell me, “I feel like a tremendous weight has been lifted off of me” or “I suddenly feel so light”. Were these people delivered from a demonic spirit or spirits? Were we? What happens when we get saved? We invite Jesus into our hearts; we are filled with the Holy Spirit. Suddenly, we have a newness about us. We “hear”, “see”, “think” and “act” according to the leading of the Holy Spirit in us. Rom 8:15 tells us, “For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, ‘Abba! Father!’ On the contrary, those who have the “spirit of slavery to fear” are the children of the devil! (John 8:44; 2 Tim 1:7). We belong to one or the other, don’t we? Reference Rom 6:16 again.

It’s obvious that demonic spirits, fallen angels and heavenly angels are not the same as human spirits. However, I honestly wonder if all people aren’t “possessed” or “in union with” the spirit realm on either side (good or evil). Satan spoke through the Apostle Peter! Jesus was able to discern the human spirit from the demonic and spoke to Satan, not Peter (Mat 16:23). What about Judas? Jesus said he was a devil from the get-go (John 6:70). Later, we see that “Satan entered him” (John 13:27). Observe!!

And look at the fact that one who is delivered from demonic possession and doesn’t get filled with the Holy Spirit ends up in a worse state than the first. Jesus taught in Mat 12:43, “Now when the unclean spirit goes out of a man, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and does not find it. Then it says, 'I will return to my house from which I came'; and when it comes, it finds it unoccupied, swept, and put in order. Then it goes and takes along with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first.” Here's the clencher: He goes on to say, "That is how it will be with this wicked generation."

I looked up the word house in Mat 12:44, which is the Greek word 3624. oikos: a house, the material building, a dwelling and compared it to 1 Cor 6:19 "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?" Temple, unlike house is the Greek word 3485: naos: a temple, a shrine, that part of the temple where God Himself resides.

Finally, let's observe the following two sides of the spirit-realm, where the Greek word 2732. katoikétérion: a habitation, dwelling-place, abode is used:

Rev 18:2 "And he cried out with a mighty voice, saying, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place of demons and a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird."

Eph 2:19-22 "So then you are no longer strangers and aliens [one who lives in a place without the right of citizenship], but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit." - For an added blessing, read Rev 21:9-27.

You are the 'host' of your house or temple. "If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." (Joshua 24:15)

That's why I kinda shutter when I hear of deliverance from demon influence and then there is no giving of the Gospel or there is a giving of the Gospel and the person does not get saved. That person will find themselves a person most miserable. That's why now is the day of salvation, today is the accepted time. Just as in the days of Jesus, demon activity is amazingly high. I believe it is because they all know that their time is short and they are frightened and driven to do as much damage as possible before the church is yanked out of here. I'm writing an article now on meditation and how something so benign as sitting and reflecting as people do sometimes is used by demons. And how the new agers have infiltrated almost every part of our American society. I love you sis. Loved this.

I'm intrigued by your idea; that the feeling that so many people experience during baptism, that weight is being lifted off of them -- myself included -- could be the Holy Spirit driving out unclean spirits as He is entering.

Brother no body, as I realized this morning and added to my hub the mind has so much to do with demonic or Godly transformation. Obviously, you are on the same "wave-length" with the Spirit of God right now, exposing the truth about how demons are let in and are literally using and speaking through people...just as the Spirit of God uses and speaks through people. Praise God, and I look forward to your latest revelation, brother. Being washed in the blood of the Lamb gives us power over Satan and his minions. We combat them as Jesus did by saying, "It is written". The Word of God is the sword, our weapon of warfare that is not carnal!! Hallelujiah!!

DiamondRN, yes I am intrigued, too. So much pondering of this whole idea. There are those who completely separate the spiritual from the physical, then there are those who say there is no spiritual, but all is physical...but I am inclined to believe both realms are inter-twined in a big way!! I mean, look at the beast that comes up out of the "sea" in Rev 13. That "sea" from which is comes are PEOPLE. That same "dragon" gives power and authority to the Antichrist! Iran calls the U.S. "the Great Satan". So many pieces to the puzzle...bless you, brother.

Not everyone is possessed, but everyone has a huge capacity for sin.

From what I've seen, in life, in the spirit and in conjunction with scripture ... it generally works something like this:

1. Someone wants something for selfish reasons (James 4:3)

2. Being unsubmitted to God, this opens them up to the devilish temptations. (James 4:7)

3. The selfishness leads to sin (James 4:1-3) which looks like "possession" because it is "of the devil". (See 1 John 3:8)

Because of the lack of closeness and submission to God, possession is often unnecessary to accomplish the evil one's goals, just a little demonic nudge. Our own selfishness does the rest. (Satan knows he gets much more work out of us if we voluntarily agree with him than if he has one of his minions pull our strings.)

By submitting and drawing close to God and trusting him to give us what we need for His own sake, we simply have to resist the devil - But ONLY in submission to God. (See James 4:1-7).

Hi BDazzler! I very much appreciate your input. I believe some people are merely influenced, submitting their own will to good or evil. I believe some people are possessed who allow the spirits in through sorcery, demonology, etc. I also believe we are slaves to good or evil; our choice. While demon possession is Biblical, so is the appearance of heavenly angels in male form. We have the indwelling Holy Spirit when we are saved. That "lifting" feeling is at least the removal of oppressing spirits that were keeping us from seeing and hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ. I suppose it is very possible that fallen angels take on human form as well...or even embody humans (i.e. the king of Babylon, the king of Tyre and the coming Antichrist). Blessings to you!

Oh, I agree demon possession is absolutely biblical, and I have been involved in quite a few deliverances. It gets complicated as far as what's "our choice" and what's "possessed".

Eight years ago, I was teaching a class on spiritual warfare once and a young woman said to me, "My fiance' committed suicide the week before our wedding and what should have been our wedding day was his funeral... do you think demons were involved?"

That deliverance process took about three or four years, and I just this year found the original source. The trusted human agent who opened them up to that evil.

The more evil I see, the more astounded I am at God's grace and goodness.

I think a hub on that subject would be awesome, brother BDazzler. Suicide is an interesting subject, for as we know with Judas, he was a devil and later Satan entered him. I came across the following passage the other day and it spoke to me in regard to suicide: 1 Cor 3:16-17 "Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are." Satan was a "murderer from the beginning" (John 8:44 again) and he seeks to take the lives of all who will let him...especially by our own "will". Sure. Write a hub, will you? Blessings!!

I'll see what the Lord says about that, the specifics are very personal.... I always tread lightly when I put stuff out for the whole world to see. I typically teach this type of thing in person, and under the authority of the apostle who laid hands on me. But, He may have something for me to say in public.

(I sometimes find myself getting "puffed up" with knowledge on the subject and the Lord let's me get all humble, often with a swift kick in the old ego! :) )

This is an interesting topic. It was once said to me that Satan doesn't need help because our Flesh is so willing to go in the wrong direction. I am curious if you have done any studies about Nephilim? I think this is why we always need to test the spirits.. Some believe the Nephilim are around today? What are your thoughts on this? Now, I do reference the book of Enoch in comparison to the Bible, which causes one to "think" about these things. See you there, I hope!

JD,

Good work here. It is becoming increasinly unpopular to speak of such things and I am thankful for your willingness to write sbout it. So many Christian people don't realize there is a battle being waged all around us that cannot be seen with our humanness. But if we have a discerning spirit we can see more clearly about demonic posession. I do beleive that once we have given our lives to Christ and are filled with the Holy Spirit there is no chance of being posessed by evil. But so many practice religion without relationship and are still thus vulnerable.

Judah's Daughter profile image

Judah's Daughter 6 years ago from Roseville, CA Author

Thank you and amen, coffeesnob ~ you hit the nail right on the head for discernment is a Spiritual gift. We are given eyes to "see", sense and discern the spirit realm and people are influenced ~ or possessed in some cases. We mustn't marvel, should we? But, WOW. This is a topic I mulled over for quite some time and I guess I'm bold enough to be a "fool for God" lol. And AMEN that once we are filled with the Holy Spirit, our castle cannot stand if it be divided. Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the "spiritual" world of human faces. And yes, Jesus called the religious Jews of His day children of the devil. A religious spirit is not of God; amen! God bless you!

Joshua, the title of this hub is an "attention grabber" as I don't believe everyone is "possessed" ~ influenced, yes. Some do actually get possessed by demons as fully as believers being filled with the Holy Spirit. These passages and observances should cause us to be more "aware" and will no doubt exercise our gift of spiritual discernment. Be blessed, brother :-)

This hub is a wonderful reminder and a great exposer of things that are happening everyday in the darkened spiritual realm and passed off into the physical realm as 'enlightenment or self-help'.

When God showed me how the devil and all his cohorts are madly working in the darkened spiritual realm, I was intrigued. It is not that the darkened spiritual realm can truly predict or such. But, the dark side speaks to a person in their heart or mind and the person speaks what they have heard and then the dark side goes to work manifesting what was said. Almost makes it look like the dark side can see into the future .. eh?

A magical trick really. And one thing the devil has is some tricks.

Keep exposing what passes off as truth .. Judah's daughter! (did i say that right?)

Judah's Daughter profile image

Judah's Daughter 6 years ago from Roseville, CA Author

Thank you, Debradoo! Over this past year on HubPages, I've read many hubs and endured many comments from "the other side" and you are so right about the doors that lead to union with the dark side ~ "[self-] enlightenment" and/or "self-help". New age and fascination with the spirit realm keep people enslaved to the "signs and wonders" they experience ~ whereas, since they experience things that are "real", yet unseen by the natural realm, they claim all this in the name of God. There's a fine line between Light and dark and it all comes down to each man's heart (motive).

God created us to walk in the Spirit, the Holy Spirit, and gives us gifts of wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment of spirits, tongues and interpretation of tongues to walk effectively. I think the difference between Light and darkness is this: walking in the Holy Spirit exalts God as the Source of power and all faith is put in Him; walking in the spirit of darkness exalts self and spirits other than God as the source of power and all faith is put in self, another mediator, and/or the spirits. That's just my take.

I am blessed you came by to read and I am also thankful the Lord called us out of darkness into His marvelous Light! (1 Peter 2:9) Praise Him forevermore!! We stand united in His love and TRUTH. God bless you!!

Great Hub here! IMHO, discernment of spirits is key in the end times. Satan has had many years to "perfect" his deception. I see a pattern how cults and false religion as a whole attack the person of Christ, whereas, if you have that wrong then you have a false messiah and gospel. We truly need humility with wisdom to know where the Holy Spirit is leading us, verses where we think we need to be. It's a "one two punch" to know our Word and know our Comforter...

For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus WE preach, or if you receive a DIFFERENT SPIRIT from the one you received, you put up with it easily enough.

I'm praising Him for you!.... Blessings

Wow, EAGLEONE, I never really paid attention to 'if you receive a DIFFERENT SPIRIT from the one you received'. We receive God's Spirit (He dwells IN us and is omnipresent) and that would possibly indicate there is a 'DIFFERENT SPIRIT' that dwells in 'them'. Quite profound. Yes, we read 'Satan entered into him' (regarding Judas Iscariot in John 13:27), so it is most scriptural. Makes me wonder if Satan's spirit can enter only one host at a time or several? I know we read about demonic possession of people and when they are cast out, they go find another host (k.e. the pigs in Mark 5:12-13) or return to the one from which they were cast out (no omnipresent possession of these particular devils) - Luke 11:24-26. I greatly appreciate your words of refreshment to my soul. God bless you!

What Paul is speaking of is a different spirit... meaning not the Spirit of the Lord, but a spirit only spoken and given of by false teachers, and they tell everyone once they say the sinners prayer and are dunked in SOME WATER that they are born again and filled with the Holy Spirit. These teachers are spewing evil spirits like frogs on those who are trying to enter / being known by MY GOD, and they have filled the whole world with this lie /evil. The sad part is that everyone believes what THEY tell them about being filled with the Holy spirit... they are full of something, but it's not the Spirit of the Lord.... The Holy Spirit is a teacher and only teaches the teachings of the Lord Jesus and nothing else Jn 14:15......! When a person believes they have the Holy Spirit and has not the proof that they are being taught by God, they are a liar and have committed the unforgivable sin, why is it unforgivable? Well... without the teaching of the WONERFUL COUNSLOR no one goes to heaven.... why would the Father put something in us that we only believe and say that we're filled, is there room for Him if your filled already? He will NOT give those KIND anything, you can not become a new creation / born again without His teaching, any other way is anti god or antichrist, and the WHOLE WORLD is FILLED with these false believers. This is the sign Jesus said would mark the end of man! Matt 24: 4 Jesus answered; WATCH OUT THAT NO ONE DECIEVES YOU!!!!!! For many will come IN MY NAME claiming, 'I am the Christ AND will deceive MANY!

My book explains it all but, almost everyone's already been DECIEVED, so.... just maybe all the training I received from The Father was just for ME. I've tried helping many but only to find that they drank that deadly poison and have been destroyed , I drank it as well but it did not kill me ( a false teaching) Mk 16:18. So my words (that R not mine) are not clear to THEM!!! Jesus asked the people (His Disciples included) 'Why are not MY WORDS clear to you? Answer; Because you are of YOUR FATHER THE DEVIL.... he was a liar and a murderer from the beginning! Unraveled; From your prayer @ confession you were a liar, and you kill everyone you tell this lie to that Jesus is your lord, and you make them just like you ...sons of hell.. Matt 23:15!!!

I'm praying about putting my book out, but to who? THEY ALL have believed the lie.... and I'm evil to them by teaching the TRUE teachings of MY LORD.

I hope all of you here on my sisters hub have been blessed by this but, those who haven't will hate this kind of teaching, this is why Jesus said the whole world will HATE us.. Why? Because we speak the hidden wisdom of the Father that THEY know nothing about!

WHAT PAUL IS SAYING HERE IS....... THE DECIEVER IS OUR MINDS, WHEN WE BELIEVE ANOTHER WAY OTHER THAN THE FOUNDATION CHRIST LAID DOWN FOR US. JESUS CALLED PETER SATAN AND A STUMBLING BLOCK TO HIM, BECAUSE PETER HAD THE THINGS OF MEN ON HIS MIND AND NOT THE THINGS OF GOD!

I'M LOVING YOU THE WAY CHRIST SAYS TO! JESUS SAID TRUST NO MAN..... BUT, THAT YOU WOULD KNOW HIS SHEEP BY THEIR FRUITS.

IT'S NOT WHAT GOES INTO A MAN THAT MAKES HIM UNCLEAN..... BUT IT'S WHAT COMES OUT OF THE MAN THAT MAKES HIM UNCLEAN.

Hi Eagleone ~ I 'hear' what you're saying and would like to clarify (that our minds understand) that "For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus WE preach...........!" Satan, whether speaking to us in our minds or through others (men) to our minds, 'tempts' us with things contrary to the true gospel. If we then change our minds (reverse 'repentance' - turning away from) and act accordingly, we are on the path to destruction, not only for ourselves, but for all we influence with our 'other gospel' that enters their minds.

I have a hub entitled "Trials and Temptations" (for both are 'tests') - God allows trials, even temptations - trials are to test us to purify our faith; temptations are to test us to wear down or destroy our faith. To be 'baptized by fire' and the Holy Spirit is interpreted as follows:

"Fire" is the Greek word 'pur', meaning trials/afflictions. Jesus Himself faced this baptism of fire in Luke 12:50 (heading to the cross). Likewise, we are to take up our cross and follow Him. Without the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit, we will not endure. Thus, Jesus said "The one who endures till the end shall be saved."

God bless you and thank you for sharing your insights with us.

WHY DO WE BELIEVE WHAT MEN ARE TEACHING US ABOVE GOD'S HOLY WORD (JESUS)

Jeremiah 23

New International Version (NIV)

The Righteous Branch

“Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture!” declares the Lord. 2 Therefore this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to the shepherds who tend my people: “Because you have scattered my flock and driven them away and have not bestowed care on them, I will bestow punishment on you for the evil you have done,” declares the Lord. 3 “I myself will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and will bring them back to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and increase in number. 4 I will place shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or terrified, nor will any be missing,” declares the Lord.

5 “The days are coming,” declares the Lord,

“when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch,

a King who will reign wisely

and do what is just and right in the land.

6 In his days Judah will be saved

and Israel will live in safety.

This is the name by which he will be called:

The Lord Our Righteous Savior.

7 “So then, the days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when people will no longer say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of Egypt,’ 8 but they will say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the descendants of Israel up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where he had banished them.’ Then they will live in their own land.”

Lying Prophets

9 Concerning the prophets:

My heart is broken within me;

all my bones tremble.

I am like a drunken man,

like a strong man overcome by wine,

because of the Lord

and his holy words.

10 The land is full of adulterers;

because of the curse the land lies parched

and the pastures in the wilderness are withered.

The prophets follow an evil course

and use their power unjustly.

11 “Both prophet and priest are godless;

even in my temple I find their wickedness,”

declares the Lord.

12 “Therefore their path will become slippery;

they will be banished to darkness

and there they will fall.

I will bring disaster on them

in the year they are punished,”

declares the Lord.

13 “Among the prophets of Samaria

I saw this repulsive thing:

They prophesied by Baal

and led my people Israel astray.

14 And among the prophets of Jerusalem

I have seen something horrible:

They commit adultery and live a lie.

They strengthen the hands of evildoers,

so that not one of them turns from their wickedness.

They are all like Sodom to me;

the people of Jerusalem are like Gomorrah.”

15 Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty says concerning the prophets:

“I will make them eat bitter food

and drink poisoned water,

because from the prophets of Jerusalem

ungodliness has spread throughout the land.”

16 This is what the Lord Almighty says:

“Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you;

they fill you with false hopes.

They speak visions from their own minds,

not from the mouth of the Lord.

17 They keep saying to those who despise me,

‘The Lord says: You will have peace.’

And to all who follow the stubbornness of their hearts

they say, ‘No harm will come to you.’

18 But which of them has stood in the council of the Lord

to see or to hear his word?

Who has listened and heard his word?

19 See, the storm of the Lord

will burst out in wrath,

a whirlwind swirling down

on the heads of the wicked.

20 The anger of the Lord will not turn back

until he fully accomplishes

the purposes of his heart.

In days to come

you will understand it clearly.

21 I did not send these prophets,

yet they have run with their message;

I did not speak to them,

yet they have prophesied.

22 But if they had stood in my council,

they would have proclaimed my words to my people

and would have turned them from their evil ways

and from their evil deeds.

23 “Am I only a God nearby,”

declares the Lord,

“and not a God far away?

24 Who can hide in secret places

so that I cannot see them?”

declares the Lord.

“Do not I fill heaven and earth?”

declares the Lord.

25 “I have heard what the prophets say who prophesy lies in my name. They say, ‘I had a dream! I had a dream!’ 26 How long will this continue in the hearts of these lying prophets, who prophesy the delusions of their own minds? 27 They think the dreams they tell one another will make my people forget my name, just as their ancestors forgot my name through Baal worship. 28 Let the prophet who has a dream recount the dream, but let the one who has my word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?” declares the Lord. 29 “Is not my word like fire,” declares the Lord, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?

30 “Therefore,” declares the Lord, “I am against the prophets who steal from one another words supposedly from me. 31 Yes,” declares the Lord, “I am against the prophets who wag their own tongues and yet declare, ‘The Lord declares.’ 32 Indeed, I am against those who prophesy false dreams,” declares the Lord. “They tell them and lead my people astray with their reckless lies, yet I did not send or appoint them. They do not benefit these people in the least,” declares the Lord.

False Prophecy

33 “When these people, or a prophet or a priest, ask you, ‘What is the message from the Lord?’ say to them, ‘What message? I will forsake you, declares the Lord.’ 34 If a prophet or a priest or anyone else claims, ‘This is a message from the Lord,’ I will punish them and their household. 35 This is what each of you keeps saying to your friends and other Israelites: ‘What is the Lord’s answer?’ or ‘What has the Lord spoken?’ 36 But you must not mention ‘a message from the Lord’ again, because each one’s word becomes their own message. So you distort the words of the living God, the Lord Almighty, our God. 37 This is what you keep saying to a prophet: ‘What is the Lord’s answer to you?’ or ‘What has the Lord spoken?’ 38 Although you claim, ‘This is a message from the Lord,’ this is what the Lord says: You used the words, ‘This is a message from the Lord,’ even though I told you that you must not claim, ‘This is a message from the Lord.’ 39 Therefore, I will surely forget you and cast you out of my presence along with the city I gave to you and your ancestors. 40 I will bring on you everlasting disgrace—everlasting shame that will not be forgotten.”

2 Peter 2

New International Version (NIV)

False Teachers and Their Destruction

2 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2 Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. 3 In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.

4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment; 5 if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others; 6 if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; 7 and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless 8 (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)— 9 if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment. 10 This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the flesh and despise authority.

Bold and arrogant, they are not afraid to heap abuse on celestial beings; 11 yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not heap abuse on such beings when bringing judgment on them from the Lord. 12 But these people blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like unreasoning animals, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like animals they too will perish.

13 They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you. 14 With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable; they are experts in greed—an accursed brood! 15 They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Bezer, who loved the wages of wickedness. 16 But he was rebuked for his wrongdoing by a donkey—an animal without speech—who spoke with a human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.

17 These people are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. 18 For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of the flesh, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. 19 They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for “people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.” 20 If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. 21 It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. 22 Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.”

The Parable of the Weeds

24 Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25 But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. 26 When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.

27 “The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’

28 “‘An enemy did this,’ he replied.

“The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’

29 “‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’”

The scripture above is

The Parable of the Weeds Matthew 13:24-30

Some, after reading what I've posted in this hub might say, 'this bird is raining down on us.... Praise God! But the others might be saying 'wait a second... that's not rain! lol

Don't forget what comes after the rain, a rainbow.... and that's a promise!

Matthew 16:19

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

Satan, when he reads these kinds of teachings gets tormented in his soul, but he will take parts of these teachings and feed them to his angels on Sunday morning to deceive them even more!

MATTHEW 13:11-17

10 The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?”

11 He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. 12 Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. 13 This is why I speak to them in parables:

“Though seeing, they do not see;

though hearing, they do not hear or understand.

14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:

“‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding;

you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.

15 For this people’s heart has become calloused;

they hardly hear with their ears,

and they have closed their eyes.

Otherwise they might see with their eyes,

hear with their ears,

understand with their hearts

and turn, and I would heal them.’

16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. 17 For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.

Jude 1

New International Version (NIV)

1 Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James,

To those who have been called, who are loved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ:

2 Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.

The Sin and Doom of Ungodly People

3 Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people. 4 For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.

5 Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. 7 In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.

8 In the very same way, on the strength of their dreams these ungodly people pollute their own bodies, reject authority and heap abuse on celestial beings. 9 But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not himself dare to condemn him for slander but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” 10 Yet these people slander whatever they do not understand, and the very things they do understand by instinct—as irrational animals do—will destroy them.

11 Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam’s error; they have been destroyed in Korah’s rebellion.

12 These people are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm—shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted—twice dead. 13 They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.

14 Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them: “See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones 15 to judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” 16 These people are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.

A Call to Persevere

17 But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. 18 They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” 19 These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.

20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

22 Be merciful to those who doubt; 23 save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

Doxology

24 To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— 25 to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
