"The Son of God" or "God the Son"
IS JESUS CHRIST 'GOD THE SON'?
John 14:28 Ye heard how I (Jesus) said to you, I go away, and I come unto you. If ye loved me, ye would have rejoiced, because I go unto the Father: for the Father is greater than I.
John 7:16 Jesus therefore answered them and said, My teaching is not mine, but his that sent me.
John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
1Corinthians 15:27 For, He (God) put all things in subjection under his (Jesus) feet. But when he (God) saith, All things are put in subjection, it is evident that he himself (God) is excepted who did subject all things unto him (Jesus).
1Corinthians 15:28 And when all things have been subjected unto him (Jesus), then shall the Son also himself be subjected to him (God) that did subject all things unto him (Jesus), that God may be all in all.

OR IS HE 'THE SON OF GOD'?
God knows who Jesus Christ is:
Matthew 17:5 While he was yet speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
Mark 1:11 and a voice came out of the heavens, Thou art my beloved Son, in thee I am well pleased.
Luke 9:35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my Son, my chosen: hear ye him.
Jesus Christ knows who he is:
Matthew 27:43 He trusteth on God; let him deliver him now, if he desireth him: for he said, I am the Son of God.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life." - Jesus
John 3:17 "For God sent not the Son into the world to judge the world; but that the world should be saved through him." - Jesus
John 3:18 "He that believeth on him is not judged: he that believeth not hath been judged already, because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God." - Jesus

Paul knew who Jesus Christ is:
Acts 9:20 And straightway in the synagogues he proclaimed Jesus, that he is the Son of God.
Romans 1:3 concerning his Son, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh,
Romans 1:4 who was declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead; even Jesus Christ our Lord,
Romans 5:10 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, shall we be saved by his life;
Romans 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

Mark knew who Jesus Christ is:
Mark 1:1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
John knew who Jesus Christ is:
John 20:31 but these are written, that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye may have life in his name.
1John 1:3 that which we have seen and heard declare we unto you also, that ye also may have fellowship with us: yea, and our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ:
1John 4:15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God abideth in him, and he in God.

John the Baptist knew who Jesus Christ is:
John 1:32-34 And John bare witness, saying, I have beheld the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven; and it abode upon him. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize in water, he said unto me, Upon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and abiding upon him, the same is he that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit. And I have seen, and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.
Simon Peter knew who Jesus Christ is:
Matthew 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
John 6:68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
John 6:69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
Nathanael knew who Jesus Christ is:
John 1:49 Nathanael answered him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art King of Israel.
Martha knew who Jesus Christ is:
John 11:27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I have believed that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, even he that cometh into the world.
The man born blind knew who Jesus Christ is:
John 9:35-38 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and finding him, he said, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? He answered and said, And who is he, Lord, that I may believe on him? Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and he it is that speaketh with thee. And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him (gave him due homage).
The disciples in the ship knew who Jesus Christ is:
Matthew 14:33 And they that were in the boat worshipped (gave him due honor) him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch knew who Jesus Christ is:
Acts 8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
The centurion and others knew who Jesus Christ is:
Matthew 27:54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.
Even devil spirits know who Jesus Christ is:
Matthew 8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
Mark 3:11 And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.
Luke 4:41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.
Luke 8:28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.

Upon what do we rely? When we come before God and face Him, to what do we appeal? As God looks upon us and sees through us, what do we say?
As believers we believe God. We received our new life in Christ by faith and we walk in it by faith. We allow what God says is true about us to be that which determines how we see ourselves and each other.
We will be seeing in this series that God is the same powerful and delivering God that we read about in the Old Testament. All the promises of God find their “yes” and “amen” in Jesus Christ....
