Is there REALLY more than one WAY to God???

The good man MickyDee has written a hub with respectful and sincere consideration for freedom of choice and peace, despite the rancour, odious unsolicited advice, and proselytizing attempts, which seem to be ever present, especially in a free-speaking venue. In the face of all this, he has still managed to compose another example ( of his fine poetic prowess and introspection. It is an admirable piece of literature, in my opinion. It displays his conscious attempt to live in God’s Grace, and to muster a noble existence. I give kudos to him, for that. It is however, screaming for help, while being quite defensive in its tone.

I do not want to offend him, but rather suggest that with this desire and dedication to the Golden Rule he espouses so much, I am sure he will be blessed. I hope, Micky, that WILL find your way, even while you are open to a friend’s thoughtful effort to edify your HOPE. I attempt to share this respectful yet bold message of hope in my best manner - I trust you will not directly find my message too aggressive, but still worthy of a meek and teachable contemplation. I do not presume your thoughts, nor can I say where you are, except that I believe you have the fortitude to rise above your challenges, and I want to encourage you to do that, as I too face uphill battles and roadblocks. I admit I do get frustrated, and yet still experience joy in the bustle of straightening of my path and hustle of tackling my challenges of circumstance. I wish I could be more eloquent and perhaps poetic in this note, however here goes …

Please let me now present a couple of thoughts, the first an old Japanese idea, the second comes from the Bible. Both are NOT verbatim, but upon reflection, I think they ask similar “philosophical” questions, which, when pondered through, indicates privately to the reader where each may be in their journeys.

My Sweet Lord (I really want to see You)

A man named David K. Reynolds, Ph.D. became the leading authority in the United States on Japanese Psychotherapy, and he relates in one of his Constructive Living courses, published in 1995:

HOW and WHY did the travelers become alerted to the danger of the poisonous snake lying in wait ahead on a branch in the tree close to where they were passing three abreast underneath, and who was the FIRST to know the present danger and alert the others?

1.) Was it because of the bright DAYLIGHT in which they chose to travel the prime reason one particular hiker spotted it, and then alerted everyone to safety while taking evasive action?

2.) Alternatively, was it due to a sudden and unusual, or quick and threatening movement that another spotted it to react push away his friend?

3.) Or was it the other man who noticed the snake because of its brightly coloured design of skin, which naturally frightened him into ducking for his own safety first, and then screaming for help?

My analysis of the above Japanese philosophical parable:

1.) The first scenario saves all three, who were then able to complete their journey safely without any unnecessary trouble, and a lesson to boot.

2.) The second potential outcome has one traveller killed, another traumatized, and both burdened with the responsibility for the disposition of the casualty, and perhaps some personal questions of guilt to torment them had they not been more alert.

3.) The worst possible event happens when two of the three uncircumspect travellers get bitten and killed, with the third scared man who ducked in fear, going insane and falling off a cliff as he ran from the scene.

The first two situations had men who were both NOBLE and UNSELFISH, but the best outcome was a result of one man using the LIGHT (which is the source of definitive knowledge and truth) to actually “see” - instead of using movement or colour to guide him along.

The second situation displayed only the slower and less complete utilization of information coming from MOVEMENT, as in a decisive reaction. It was however, a REACTIVE measure, in comparison to one that was proactive and an example of being prepared, in a studied circumspection.

· Even Scientific studies have shown that the eye FIRST sees light, then motion, then colour, and then finally shape. Some people cannot see the forest because of the tree, which stalls them, and they become fixated on distracting thoughts, not unlike tunnel-vision, or blinders which cause them to MISS (even by design and choice) the greater, complete picture - Not unlike the ever-expanding Words of God.

The Book of Mormon record of 2 Nephi 29:10 "Wherefore, because that ye have a Bible ye need not suppose that it contains all my words; neither need ye suppose that I have not caused more to be written."

The Holy Bible record of John 21:25 "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen."

The Book of Mormon record of 2 Nephi 25:21 "Wherefore, for this cause hath the Lord God promised unto me that these things which I write shall be kept and preserved, and handed down unto my seed, from generation to generation, that the promise may be fulfilled unto Joseph, that his seed should never perish as long as the earth should stand."

The second story is a Biblical one, which relates philosophically (Theologically) to the building of houses on different foundations. Some (many) builders ignore what is good information (sound knowledge) and there be few that accept the whole program, which cautions people to not “just” choose to build on what is more convenient and easier for them to do. You see, to be satiated with “just” the words of John, and/or Paul, and/or Joseph without reaching further into the chest of tools and parts leads one to build a house without a level, or an arch without a keystone, so to speak.

To be ignorant of, or apathetic to (never mind to be furiously opposed with) meticulous adherence to the BEST design (meaning the complete design from the MASTER, who is Christ) is perhaps not imminent destruction, but it is inevitable disaster … even if we manage the noble gesture of helping or saving our “friend”, our brother, our family, or whoever.

The FULLNESS of the Gospel (i.e.: Word of God) IS the way to find Him. We have to be prudent to always search for more instruction (did we overlook something?) Instruction then, which was SPECIFICALLY PRESERVED for our TIMES, would be MOST helpful, because it is delivered to us on a “Just in Time” schedule, determined by the Lord.

The Old Testament dispensation came through God for the benefit of the people in those times; then Christ came in the meridian of time and taught again His Word - and MORE - which helped His followers until it became slowly confused on account of its scarcity, etc. through the centuries following. Then, with the invention of the printing press, coupled with the Grace of God and the efforts of a few great, devout, and intelligent men, the New Testament Word, bound as a “Book of Books” was finally more liberally provided to many more people, all thirsting for Good News. Its was most helpful specifically for that era when it became available - not because God changed - He has always been consistent in His attention and care for the welfare of His followers, as He SEES are deserving.

We now have even more attention, care, and instruction for our particular welfare TODAY. His followers will be the recipients of that loving care, protection, and attention; and while it is of course, OFFERED to the world, it has received a tremendous “opposition” - that befitting of a Great Spiritual Tumult - just as prophesied centuries ago (these are the latter days).

The Lord speaks, but the world does not know Him. Many balk at His revelation, preferring to take different winding roads of dissention, leading to inevitable destruction. Many roads are PREDESTINED to END without the guiding Grace of Light, which IS revelation.

Light shines in a straight path, and is lost when the road winds in a perplexing vortex through the labyrinth of distraction, sloth, and vice.

Slothfulness of Body, Mind, AND Spirit are carnal tendencies (and fortunately, fixable, human frailties) which seek not with genuine concern to GET PREPARED to save ourselves along WITH others.

For a healthy Spiritual pursuit, prayer and Biblical scripture study IS important, but to disregard or abandon the opportunity to study a valuable resource (and light) which is “Another Testament of Jesus Christ”, along WITH other sacred scriptures, is terribly remiss, and is akin to the wise and astute Japanese parable above.

There is only one WAY to reach God, it is on the straight and narrow; and those who choose to travel this road can testify that while it is well-lit, it is so too rigorously rough, and it takes balls to get with the program and hang in there - but it can be done - we have God’s Word on that!

God help us ALL … Peace and good tidings.

Light and REVELATION IS HERE TODAY for each of us!

Wonderful. Jesus warned us that the narrow road to life would be cramped , yet few people finding it.

Thank you for an excellent, balanced hub.
