THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE

Updated on October 4, 2013

When Adam and Eve sinned, they were banned from the tree of life and lost their salvation.
God was merciful and He wanted man to be saved and He sent Jesus as His manifestation on earth to help us to regain eternal life.

Jesus was the only way that could lead us back to God for He was from God and without sin. He was born to carry our burden of sins and was the sacrificial lamb for only can sins be redeemed by the shedding of blood by Jesus who was without sin.

JESUS ACKNOWLEDGMENT

After the last supper, Jesus washed His disciples' feet and told them He would be with them yet a little while. He comforted them and declared the following words in John 14:6. Jesus admitted He was the Way, the Truth and the Life. There was no other way, no other truth and no other life they could live if they wanted to return to the Lord God.

John 14:6

  • Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Many roads lead to Rome, but only one way leads to God and salvation.

Jesus is God's manifestation of Himself on earth as the son of God, and represents God on earth. All flesh is born of sin. God can only choose Jesus as an appropriate substitute for redeeming sin and Jesus is the perfect sacrificial lamb.

Matthew 7:13,14

Jesus in the Sermon on the mount described The Two different Ways

  • Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
  • Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

2 Corinthians 5:21

Here Paul spoke about God making Jesus to bear our sins.

  • For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

JESUS THE WAY

Jesus leads the the way, but the way has several steps. Believe in faith in Jesus is the first step. Those who seek God and meet His approval must first have their sins exonerated by means of baptism through the blood of Jesus who cleanses by the water and blood during baptism (Acts 2:38).

John 3:5 states Jesus answered, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the
kingdom of God." The sinful self is dead and a new life emerges or is reborn. The person is now a new born babe in Christ.

The baby must grow and mature in Christ feeding on the words of Jesus as he matures from a new born to manhood. From milk, he slowly matures to enjoying and digesting meat.

1 Corinthians 3:2

  • I have fed you with milk, and not meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

A child must be trained in the way he should go and a young Christian should also be trained.

Proverbs 22:6

  • Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it..

Here Paul spoke of God and Jesus as one directing our way. Jesus is God's manifestation on earth. God is a Spirit without form. Jesus is fully God in spirit and fully man on earth.

1 Thessalonians 3:11

  • Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.

John 14:6

  • Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ direct our way unto you.

John 1:1, 14

Here Apostle John emphasized the God and the Word were One. So God's way is also Jesus' way.

  • In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

  • And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth

JESUS THE TRUTH

Truth can be referred to God who is righteous and full of mercy and love as opposed to lies and deceptions

Here Jesus was speaking of Himself and that God would glorify Him. Whatever belonged to God heard us; he that was not of God heard not. This is how we know the Spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

John 16:13-15

  • Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
  • He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
  • All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I. that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

John 1:17

  • For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians 3:11

  • Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.

When the truth comes, it shall make the people free from sin. Truth has a way of cleansing all impurities, fears and misgivings. People become new men with no encumbrances, no shackles or chains to bind them to the
devil.

John 8:32

  • And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Those who know God will hear but those who do not hear, are not of God. Believers hear and obey, but those who do not hear are outsiders and deaf to the love and mercy and truth of God.

1 John 4:6

  • We are of God:: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of of truth and the spirit of error.

Paul said to the Romans that he was speaking of the truth in Jesus for he was witnessing in the Holy Spirit.

Romans 9:1

  • I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost .

Matthew confessed that Jesus was true and teaching God's will without partiality. Unless you believe in Jesus, you would be deaf to His teachings.

Matthew 22:16; Mark 12:14

  • Master, we know that thou art true and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of man.

Here Jesus is equating Himself with God and those who worship God must worship Him in spirit and in truth. The letter of the law kills but the spirit lives.

John 4:23-24

  • But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
  • God is a Spirit: and that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

JESUS THE LIFE TO GOD

Jesus is life without end and is Alpha and Omega. God has life and He imparted life to Jesus who is the only one who can lead us back to the eternal and everlasting God.

Revelation 1:8

  • I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was and which is to come, the Almighty.

Revelation 21:6

  • And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

Revelation 22:13

  • I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last..

Jesus Sacrificed His Life

Jesus bore all the sins of the world and sacrificed Himself so that man can have eternal life and His precious blood washes and cleanses us from our sins. Without the cleansing of our sins, we cannot enter into eternal life for the path was barred from us when Adam and Eve sinned.

John 1:4

  • In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

John 10:10

  • The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy; I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

John 11: 25

  • Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though he be dead, yet shall he live.

Proverb 14:27

  • The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

John 5:26

  • For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

2 Timothy 1:10

  • But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immorality to light through the gospel.

1 John 5:12

  • He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. Many roads lead to Rome, but only one way leads to God and salvation.

Jesus is God's manifestation of Himself on earth as the son of God. Only was Jesus who was born of God without sin, but all flesh is born of sin. God can only choose Jesus as an appropriate substitute for redeeming sin. Jesus is the way we must choose to enter into the kngdom of God. As the new born Christian grows up, he is trained step by step into the whole truth which eventually brings him to the realm of God.
