JESUS Words of Eternal Life

JESUS Words of Eternal Life

Simon Peter answered him,

“Lord, to whom shall we go ? You have the words of eternal life.

We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.”

John 6 :68-69

So many great teachers of religion have already come to the world. Confucius is a great Chinese teacher who had left indelible life philosophies among the Chinese people. Confucianism is the moral and religious system of China founded by Confucius at the end of 6th century B.C.. Basically it is a system of ethical precepts – benevolent love, righteousness, decorum, wise leadership, sincerity designed to inspire and preserve good management of family and society. From the second century B.C. until the 20th century Confucianism was the distinctive philosophy of China and the basis of social organization, education and administration.

Gautama Buddha is another great spiritual teacher who introduced Buddhism to the world. The religion Buddhism contains the Four Noble Truths and Noble Eightfold Path. Buddha’s teachings and influence embrace a great portion of the Asian continent. Buddhism has some about 500 million followers.

Another great religious leader is Mohammed. He introduced Islam to the world. Mohammed’s earliest preachings stressed four points : the sole sovereignty of Allah, the sinfulness of idolatry, the certainty of resurrection, and his own divine vocation as prophet of this new revelation. Islam now is the fastest growing religion in the world which embraces almost the entire Middle East and a large portion of Asian countries.

But among these great spiritual leaders who graced the planet earth , no one possessed the power and authority as possessed by Jesus of Nazareth. Only Jesus claims that He is the Son of God. Only Jesus was able to perform great miracles such as multiplying the bread and fishes, walking above the waters, turning water into a choice wine, raising the dead for several days back to life. Among those spiritual leaders who walked the planet earth, no one was able to perform the miracles of Jesus of Nazareth.

And on top of everything, only Jesus was resurrected back to life. This is his most remarkable distinction from the rest of the leaders. Jesus resurrection guarantees His power to give eternal life and grant resurrection to the dead. Truly Jesus is the only One who possess the words of eternal life. He is the only one capable of fulfilling his promise to give “eternal life” to His believers or followers.

Truly we can count on to Jesus to grant us resurrection and everlasting life in Heaven. By believing. in Jesus and surrendering our lives to Him, we now possess eternal life. This is the one that will truly give us happiness while living our earthly life, the assurance of our eternal life. After our death, we can look forward to a great life with God in Heaven in His everlasting Kingdom.

Without the assurance of eternal life, a person can never be satisfied with anything the world could offer. We are created to desire and long for eternity. A person may be successful by this world standard and can possess everything he desires, but I believe he will never be truly happy. For everything in this world are fleeting. He can never hold on to anything this world could offer , for they will never guarantee him everlasting life. And his death will be a very tragic event for him, for he has no hope beyond death’s door.

Jesus and His Words of eternal life are the ones that make our lives beautiful. Amidst life’s trials with Jesus promises, our lives in Christ remain a great thing to behold. For we can look forward beyond death’s door. Death will no longer be a very tragic event in our life. But as Christians redeemed by the blood of Christ, we can look forward to our death, for it is the means we can inherit Heaven.
