Jesus On The Main Line Rap

Blending The Old with The New

Old Music, New Words
Old Music, New Words

Worship Takes Many Forms

While worshipping God one day, I began to hear rap lyrics in my head. I wrote them down, and thus began a kind of journey that I am still on. These are lyrics I wrote to accompany the old gospel tune, "Jesus Is On The Main Line". The original music and lyrics can't be found in a hymnal, but many of the older people in churches know this song (and some younger ones, too).

These are copyrighted lyrics, so enjoy them, but don't use without permission.

Song:

Jesus is on the main line

Tell Him what you want

Jesus is on the main line

Tell Him what you want

Jesus is on the main line

Tell Him what you want

You just call Him up and tell Him what you want...

Rap:

He said pray, He said pray, He said

Pray without ceasing

You're wondering why,

So I'll tell you the reason

He knows your location

He'll stop at your station

Genesis to Revelation

Jesus don't take no vacation

Come to your rescue

Be there in a minute

When people are ghost, unh

That's when He steps in it

A cry in the night

In a fight, in flight

He'll hold--your hand

He'll tell you that He understands

The Lord, The Messiah

Not a thief, not a liar

He loved you 'fore you knew Him

So give the praises to Him.

That's it. Hope you enjoy it. All lyricists, musicians and poets, be encouraged.
