Joseph Smith Jr. Restoration Prophet
Joseph has evil spoken of him for dare saying to the world that God the Father is a glorified man and that all are created in his glorious image.
Joseph Smith Jr. was born December 23, 1805, in Sharon, Vermont to Joseph and Lucy Mack Smith. He came from a family of farmers who worked hard at their employ and carried with the same, a reputation.
Joseph Smith Sr. moved his family eventually to Palmyra, New York looking for financial security. The Smith family was a poor family but were steep in spirituality and an understanding of the Bible.
The First Vision
At the age of 14, Joseph Smith Jr. was a somber child and wanted to know the best way he could serve God.
He attended many different religious assemblies to find out what church to belong to and would bring salvation to his soul.
The course of his life was very pointedly upon the subject of his eternal welfare and he would not relent in finding out what God wanted him to do.
One day, while reading the bible he came upon the book of James and read in the first chapter and fifth verse:
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
Joseph pondered on the meaning of the verse because never before had he given himself to vocal pray. He wanted to know with which of the religious bodies unite.
So, he went to a grove near his home to pray vocally among the trees. Immediately he was seized by a dark force that rendered him ineffective.
Through exerting all his faith a light descended upon him, which set him free. Within that light stood two people standing side to side.
In answer to his prayer, Joseph Smith was visited by God the Father and Jesus Christ as he was enveloped in the presence of the Holy Ghost. He saw and experienced all three members of the Godhead at the same time!
To him, this was more than he expected, but it was what needed to be. God has revealed himself to mankind again in these last days through a prophet called Joseph Smith Jr.

Good and Evil Spoken of His Name
God promised that Joseph would have good and evil spoken of him because of the things that he would do. The truths he revealed caused the very foundations of hell to shake as he declares to the world that God and Jesus Christ are glorified men with bodies as tangible as ours. Not only that but seeing them together answers the questions caused by the creeds over the centuries.
Elder Neil L. Anderson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles explained an aspect of Joseph's infamy in the 2014 October conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Saints:
Why does the Lord allow the evil speaking to chase after the good? One reason is that opposition against the things of God sends seekers of truth to their knees for answers.
The Godhead revealed themselves again because the knowledge of them had been lost in apostasy centuries before when men took it upon themselves to define God.
Joseph has evil spoken of him for dare saying to the world that God the Father is a glorified man and that all are created in his glorious image. For revealing that mystery, Joseph flew in the face of all Christianity and Islam--all religious belief about God!
Of course, he would be derided and persecuted because his claims did not just go quietly into oblivion when he died. Hundreds, thousands then millions of people hear and believe his testimony of God.
He was 14 years of age when the supernal experience occurred.
I had actually seen a light, and in the midst of that light I saw two Personages, and they did in reality speak to me; and though I was hated and persecuted for saying that I had seen a vision, yet it was true; and while they were persecuting me, reviling me, and speaking all manner of evil against me falsely for so saying, I was led to say in my heart: Why persecute me for telling the truth?
I have actually seen a vision; and who am I that I can withstand God, or why does the world think to make me deny what I have actually seen? For I had seen a vision; I knew it, and I knew that God knew it, and I could not deny it, neither dared I do it; at least I knew that by so doing I would offend God, and come under condemnation. Bring the World God's Truth
Joseph Smith did more for the salvation of men than any other person except Jesus Christ. Because of his unique position in history, the adversary would have the misguided worship him, or the detractors claim that the church he established worships him.
Believers reverence his name and do not have to justify their love for Joseph. He saw God and Jesus and helped to clarify that God is real and He and the Savior are separate people who work for the good of all.
No longer does humanity need halt between who is the most persuasive orator about the trinity concept. It is revealed by God Himself. None need wonder if the Bible was clear on the subject or any other scripture because modern revelation IS clear on the subject.
Humanity knows more about God because of Joseph Smith! He dared to publish a book of scripture that he claims was given to him by a resurrected being for the benefit of converting all people to Jesus Christ.
Blessed be the name of Joseph Smith for having the courage to walk away from his past and change his life to be more in tune with God. It took him years of repenting and study to prepare to be a prophet.
It took years for the Lord to completely purge the traditions of his forefathers out of him before He could reveal the next thing for the salvation of mankind. Detractors encourage a focus on the things he believed or practiced before he understood the nature of God.
