Is Judas Iscariot The Father Of All Vampires?

Legend says that vampires originated with the apostle who betrayed Jesus Christ and that is Judas Iscariot. We all know the Bible story that Judas betrayed Christ for 30 pieces of silver and when Christ was crucified Judas tried to return the 30 pieces of silver and when the priests would not take it back he cast the silver coins away from him and when and hung himself. You can find reference to this in Matthew 27 3-5. Some legends down through the years say that those that commit suicide can become vampires.

Judas Iscariot according to a Hebrew Legend was the first vampire ever in history. Though ancient writings from around the world mention vampire like creatures being around several thousand years before Christ.

It is said by some that vampires have two separate beginnings. One from Judas and one from a creature from very ancient times. Egyptians told of a creature much like a vampire that was said to have existed six thousand or more years ago.

It is suggested by some that vampires having an aversion to crosses, holy water, and silver can be traced back to the Judas legend. What we don't know is if its true.

The specific quote from the bible is.

Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. 5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. (Matthew 27:3-5)

What we all want to know is if Judas died when he hanged himself or was he condemned to haunt the earth for the rest of history as a vampire. If so is Judas the father of all vampires?

The Book Of Alugah, The Story Of God's Punishment For Judas Iscariot

In a very old book that I purchased in Jerusalem the story of God's punishment for Judas Iscariot is revealed. I believe the book to be authentic. It is leather bound and was written by a Catholic Monk in the year 843 AD. I purchased it in an old book store on a dusty alley in Jerusalem and it took me several years before I was able to read it. You see it was written in Aramaic which is said to have been the language of Jesus Christ. I was able to get a professor in New York to translate it for me in exchange for him being able to keep a copy of the book.

The Story Of How God Cursed Judas Iscariot

The Monk named Aed tells the Hebrew legend in the book that God punished Judas Iscariot after Judas hanged himself by restoring life to him and that God cursed him to live until the last days. God is said to have told Judas that he would fear the sun and the light of day and that he would roam the night. He went on to tell Judas that the life is in the blood and that blood from living humans would be the only thing Judas would ever feed on again. The book does not say anything about it having to be the blood of Christians.

The book does say that God told Judas that you will never find the comfort of death. Nothing will kill you or your kind but you will seek the darkness and live in dark moist places. Wishing that you could taste water again but it will never cross your lips. You will walk through the many years in front of you remembering what you have done and what has been done to you in return. And you will know that your end will be in a burning lake of fire that will never go out.

God told Judas that he knew Judas would have many off spring and that they too would be cursed the same as Judas to be creatures of the night and to feed only only blood. God is said to have told Judas that wine or sweet water will never cross your lips again. God went on to tell Judas that in the end at the end of days that Judas and all his offspring would be cast into a burning lake of fire along with Lucifer and his demons where you will remain forever.

The book does not tell how the off spring of Judas would be created or where they would come from. But it does say that Judas would have many offspring and they would be cursed the same as Judas.

God told Judas that anything to do with Christ or Christians would be an aversion to Judas and his kind including silver. God is said to have told Judas that you betrayed my son for silver and that silver will betray you. The book does not explain what this means exactly. And it does not say anything of why God created a vampire race. The word vampire does not appear in the book but several references to Creatures of the Night are made.

It does make me wonder why God would have created a race of beings to feed on the blood of humans. And that is basically the whole story from the book. It does not reveal any deep dark vampire secrets. The story is written by hand in ink and some of the story could not be read because it had been damaged by water. The rest of the book is interesting history of that time in Jerusalem but it says nothing else about vampires. It is likely that the Monk Aed heard the story from other people and that he wrote down what he heard. That is how things were done in that time. So we know that the legend did exist at one time. We don't know if that was all of the story or if there is more of the story that was not told or written down by the Monk.

Some Interesting Vampire Information

Vampires are not mentioned anywhere in any modern version of the Christian Bible. Demons are but not vampires.

Vampires have been talked about and been a part of Eastern European culture for thousands of years. The vampire has been a part of East European and Irish folklore for thousands of years and vampire hunters were very real. Real people really did try to hunt down and hunt vampires. This has continued even into modern day England. A major vampire hunt went on in 1970.

Many people ( Vampire Hunters ) have been arrested by police in English graveyards complete with crosses, garlic, wooden stakes and hammers. Some people really do believe in the existence of vampires. Arrests have occurred as recently as July of 2009. Almost always the charges are dropped before the case comes to court but the arrests are made of vampire hunters.

Vampire Hunters have even been arrested this year ( 2011 ) in New Orleans. These are not nuts but people who really believe they are hunting vampires. Some with elaborate equipment.

Judas Iscariot The Father Of All Vampires

And there is a legend among the Hebrew people that God cursed Judas and said that Judas and his decedents would roam their earth as creatures of the night until the end of time. They believed that Judas Iscariot had red hair in life and that vampires with red hair were directly descended from Judas.

The Hebrew legend goes on to explain that vampires have an aversion to silver because of the fact that Judas was paid with 30 pieces of silver for his betraying Christ. Judas tried unsuccessfully to return the 30 pieces of silver so he cast it away from himself and went and hung himself. And the legend says that God refused to allow Judas to escape that way so he ordered him and his decedents to wander the earth as vampires.

However another legend says that Lucifer ( The Devil ) refused to allow Judas to die from hanging himself so he created a half human , half demon race out of Judas and condemned him and his kind to roam the earth to the ends of time. This legend goes on to say that all vampires have red eyes and fangs and will burn if exposed to direct sunlight.

But keep in mind this is a Hebrew legend not anything from the Christian Bible.

Judas Iscariot Father Of All Vampires

There is a not well known legend from the Jewish people that Judas was condemned by God to wander the earth and was never allowed to see the sun. The legend says that Judas is a vampire and that he and his descendants are condemned to wander the earth and feed on the blood of Christians. I was told that every vampire was created by Judas or his vampire descendants. I was told about this legend when I was in Jerusalem in the 1980s. I was able to purchase a very old hand written book in a Jerusalem book store that had some of the legend in it.

It was a very old Jewish man who told me where to find the book I purchased and I was not allowed to record or photograph him. I wish I had been able to record the story. The man told me that very ancient vampires lived under the old city of Jerusalem. He said that he had seen these ancient creatures and they always drank the blood of Christians. The book only says that Judas and his offspring would have to feed on the blood of humans. It does not say Christians.

He told the story that for thousands of years these creatures had lived in caverns or tunnels under the city and that they preyed on the blood of the faithful of Christ.

I thank you for your comment. Some of it I still have not got to read. I have loaned the book to a man at a UK University who is going to try to translate all of it. Lady Guinevere he said the same think about the Monks translations as you. He is working on it and plans on getting back to me in May or June of 2015. I hope then I can read it all and hope they will be able to establish the information in the book as real. I do find it a bit strange that the story of the vampires sealed in the Oak Trees in the book The Mayfair Witches is talked about in this old book. Really strange and yes it makes me think also.

This is all very interesting. That book must have been quite a purchase and to finally get to read the words must have been very exciting.

My thoughts on this are that some Monks that had translated the Bible mistranslated lots and left things out and also put things in there that would bring people to the church. That being said I think this may be what this story is all about. Then again it could also explain the creatures of the night and Vampires. In those times they tried to explain everything away and put everything on an outside source that they did not know what it was. Most of it was thought to be evil. For instance demons were wonderful creatures in the Greek tranalation of the Bble, but by the time Rome got it they became very bad creatures.

There are other kinds of Vampires too that feed not on any human blood, but of their emotions and of fear mongering.

This hub gives me more to chew on and I thank you for that.

Very interesting theory and you must have been excited to come across such a book. Anyone who believes in or is interested in vampires I am sure will embrace it. Like many other books it is probably based on stories and folk tales passed down through the ages and interspersed with fact. The result is usually a distorted semi-reality. I feel because Christ knew it was pre ordained that Judas betrayed him that he would have been forgiven (he had to do it whether he wanted or not, and he was distraught and repentant afterwards). Christians are continually taught that if we repent our sins we will be forgiven and that Christ died on the cross to ensure that. I doubt very much that Judas would have been condemned to become a creature of the night drinking human blood, but anything' possible. You tend to repeat the same information quite a few times during the hub but maybe that's to increase the word count. Anyway whether true or not this was very entertaining and food for thought.

its cool to see that ppl believe such things because to be honest i believe that werewolves and vampires are real . I am not saying that this article is real but it is intriguing. i believe in monsters/demons because i believe in God and the Devil I'm a christian so its only evident that i do, God has the power to kill satan an demons but they have a purpose now cause man ate the fruit.

demons have the power to change human form there are ppl that worship satan an not God. BELIEF is a serious thing you can believe in something so greatly that things can happen.where there is beauty such as in heaven there are also monsters bound to satan cause of their rebellion against God. so things that go bump in the night are real NTN is new under the sun.....but yet again what do i know ..........

This is not the most unusual book on the same or similar subject. There are many books like this. I have many others that mention vampires and there are many books that tell of a Jewish legend that says that vampires were created because of Judas or from Judas.

The Book of Alugah sounds like a very interesting and unique find.

Very interesting how these creatures have shown up throughout the world, over thousands of years.

Instead of asking why God would create a race of creatures like this, I think it would be better to ask, "Why would God give such power to one that he apparently did not like?"

The traditional view of demons and devils, with regard to sin, was that they are allowed to tempt a person, but that person must use their free will to choose evil.

This tale throws that view out the window. If true, God gave Judas power far beyond any demonic creature.

Judas could, by creating offspring, damn the soul of anyone he chose. Succumbing to temptation would not be necessary.

He would be quite the dangerous creature, posing more of a threat than a wild animal (which can only destroy the body).

It would stand to reason that Judas would share his 'gift' with those most sympathetic to his cause, but this is not explicitly stated as a condition.

This story, however, sounds a bit too allegorical to be believed, and leaves more than a few questions to be considered.

It is important to also consider the era in which the book was purported to have been written, as well as the power of the church, average literacy rates, etc.

Such a story would certainly be useful for keeping the faithful on the straight and narrow, as well as engendering a fear of the dark.

Outside of this role, it just doesn't add up.

Not all the Bible is factual. The legend of Judas Iscariot is a Hebrew Legend. There is much of the Bible that could or could not be wrong. There is a lot of Books that should be in the Bible that is not.

Very good fiction but 99.9% sure it stays as legend. This will never be factual. But neverless an interesting hub :). Never read anything like it before. Just for the record I believe the betrayal of Jesus was meant to be so that fate could pay our sin debt in full. I also believe Judas repented and was forgiven when Christ died on the cross.

I too would like to read the book. It seems logical... Judas betrayed Jesus and was cursed, silver was involved, the betrayal was even at night. I can also see Cain as being a Vamp or some other supernatural being. Cain was marked by God and God said that he would kill anyone who tried to kill him, even though he killed his own brother Abel. But Cain was forced to roam the land of Nod.

I saw this in a movie, "Dracula 2000" by Wes Craven and have been fascinated with this theory ever since. This is the first that I've heard of this since seeing the movie and to me it makes the most sense. The theory in the movie is that the vampire or Judas I. can die but only by hanging and then he burns in the rising of the sun. What do you think of that theory?

This is so interesting. Best story I've found. I just love vampires

i have also heard of vampires originate from cain i actually read it on the book of Nod but at some point it talks about a game so im mot really sure anymore it is a fascinating subject. its is more logical because on an interview with a real vampire by crazyhorseghost the vampire mentions meeting vampires older than judas escriot so that would really be a subject to look into.

Ive never heard of the curse of Judas, i am not one to take the bible literally and as truth but as metaphor or symbolic theoastrological hybrid of SUN worship, but anyway, did the hebrew legend actually use the word VAMPIRE or a derivative of Vampire?

Tara 3 years ago

I find this subject very fascinating. I truly believe things that go bump in the night, and myself have encountered some strange creatures. I know they exist. I have heard stories of Judas but never he being the creator of vampires. As much as you may not believe I am a person who searches for the creatures of the night. Not to kill them of course but to study them. I am in search of a real vampire to research. I find this legend very interesting though, and has actually helped me on my quest. Thank you very much for this information.
