Just Rest in Him

Updated on April 3, 2020

Give Him Everything

Are your burdens seeming to cover you like a heavy blanket, weighing you down and smothering your soul? " Rest in Him."

Have you ran over in your mind the list of everyone you know and still feel like you have no-one to really share what is troubling your heart? " Talk to Him."

So many times I've been crushed by my circumstances or maybe just felt really bummed out and the lyrics to the old hymn "What A Friend" came to me with a burning reminder---" Take it to the Lord in prayer " and "Oh what needless pain we bear...All because we do not carry EVERYTHING to God in prayer."

You are strong, but you are not meant to carry this much on your own.

You just can't handle it! Yes, there is a lot of self helps out there. Yes, there is a lot of great counselors and wonderful people dedicated to the cause of "mind over matter" ( they may actually help you in many areas in your life). If you are not careful (just like an emotional high)it will fizzle out and you will feel empty again.

"YOU NEED GOD!"

He Cares

" What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee." Psalms 56:3 KJV

He cares about the BIG things like your losses, pain and fears. He cares about the little things like that dirty look someone gave you or the car keys you lost.

Sometimes you just can't narrow it down to one trouble because life has brought you many heartaches. Maybe isolation has made you feel smothered and all alone. "Friend, you are not alone. So right now in the midst of your chaos, doubts, confusion, loneliness, despair or whatever may be ailing you---JUST REST IN HIM!"

When you choose to not handle your problems on your own and give them to God, peace will overshadow you like a shade tree in the desert.

" Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me.For I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest for your souls.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30 KJV

Song "I'll Praise You In The Storm

When God Visited My Praise

During a life-threatening illness I was alone at home with my kids. I was so weak I was dragging myself across the floor to get anywhere.

My husband had to work out of town so I begin to feel very overwhelmed and alone in my circumstance trying to care for the kids and the house.

I decided I couldn't just give in to my feelings of despair so I just started defying my situation with praise.

I crawled on my stomach ( I couldn't walk or stand at the time) I raised my hands and started singing to God the song, "I'll Praise You In The Storm."

I felt such a precious peace and glorious presence fill the room. Then all at once there was a loud clap of thunder and a bright flash of lightening. Then it was over, no storm or rain at all--just God letting me know He heard my praise. It even excited my kids (totally amazing) and His presence filled my house so strong I just fell with my face in my hands in tears. I believe God visited my praise.

When you learn to just rest in Him, He will fill your life to overflowing. Sometimes He gives and sometimes He takes away, but like Job (in the Bible) said, " Blessed be the Name of the Lord!"

You see He's been there, He went all the way to the cross for you and rose again victorious that you might have life and live it abundantly.

JUST REST IN HIM!
