Let's Start a Prayer Revolution

"...But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay." (Jeremiah 20:9b)

All over America there are pockets of prayers popping up, Be it individuals, groups. or whole churches, God is calling His people to pray. Still, for the most part, the call has fallen on deaf ears. America may be religious, but she is still lost. America may be filled with churches, but not the Savior. Many claim the name of Christian, but have not the slightest idea what it means to be a Christian.

After an exhausting day at church yesterday, I finally crawled into bed about 10:00pm--and lay for hours tossing and turning, pleading with God silently for our nation. Did He hear? Absolutely! I cannot get the thought of a Prayer Revolution out of my mind.

If you see our country as being okay, you need to try a new pair of glasses. We are far from the God who has blessed us for some 200 years. We have mocked him by our church formalities.Yes, we have blasphemed the God of Heaven in attempting to do the work without the Holy Spirit, and we came up dry What did we expect?.

The focus has become programs, pomp, and personalities. Christ has long ago been ushered out the front door where He remains knocking, pleading for entrance. We have forbidden it. There is a a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with forbearing, and I can not stay. Perhaps I'm not speaking about your church, but then again maybe I am.

Stop for just a minute--just one minute and think about the condition of America--really think. Is Christ really preeminent in your church? Certainly He is not in the American church in general. But it really does not have to be that way! Let's start a prayer revolution. This I know. If we do not willingly bend the knee before God, He will bring us to our knees, but then it will be too late.

Would it really hurt you to immerse yourself in prayer for the glory of God to return. I mean immerse. Allow me to vent some steam. I am so sick of so called prayer meetings where the pastor has a 30 minute Bible study and a five minute prayer time at the end.Wonder why the church is weak? You know the answer. Very few people cry out to God anymore insisting on His promises to be fulfilled. Very few people take the time to enter into a deep prayer life with the One who saved them. Very few care. I am hoping you are different. Let's start a prayer revolution.

In my county there are about eight Gospel preaching churches. If one of those churches caught the fire of the Holy Spirit and another one 15 miles down the road caught fire, something very powerful would begin to happen. The Holy Spirit would take those flames and blow them into one flame bigger than either of the two, covering more area than either one could alone. Imagine if God got a hold of all eight churches. Imagine if this took place in many counties in many states--the winds of revival would be blowing of hurricane force.

America will continue to suffer unless a change is made. Unless a change is made your loved ones may burn in hell. Your neighbors will still reject Christ. Homosexuality, pro-choice and evolution will still be taught to your children and grandchildren. Someone has to do something. It might as well be you!

You have got to plead with God, not just pray. You have got to lay hold of the promises God has given you. You have got to resist the devil. You have got to get serious. Beg God to work in your life. Beg Him to do something only He can do. Only He can change the face of things to come against this country.

The fact that your loved ones may burn in hell, the fact that your neighbors may still reject Christ, the fact that your children and grandchildren will continue to be taught dangerous and damaging lies is not the reason to cry out for revival. There is only one reason--God Himself. The pure glory of God is the only reason to plead with Him. His glory is the only reason to hold Him to His promises. God is God and that is all we need to know. He deserves His rightful place among us. He will have it if we give it to Him.

Determine right now to throw out the ten minute quiet time that eases the conscience. Dive into prayer for an hour or more at a time, perhaps several times a day. Let God be real and transform your life.

There is a burning fire in my bones. I am weary of forbearing. Be a spark. Get others involved. Get your church involved. I am only one person with one story to a few people on a few sites, but together we can multiply the effort and start a prayer revolution. Watch and marvel at what God is going to do.

Amen my brother! You've hit the nail on the head. I feel that Christians (so called) in America are satisfied with saying the words rather than pleading and crying out in sincerity to God for His guidance and leadership. If the Holy Spirit were to move in some congregations someone just might have a heart attack. Real prayer is work; I feel it is warfare against the devil when we cry out to a Holy God through the blood of Jesus. I think that when people repeat the same old dry words in a prayer it's the devil that pats them on the back saying 'At a boy'.

"Lord, send a revival and let it began in me..."

Lifegate, It is funny, for some reason, I had not one desire to come on hubpages today but, because I am responding to your hub, I truly believe GOD drove me to you and what you put out. I was amazed when I read your hub. I do agree with you, people have their bible study and the prayer for some, last 5 minutes or 30 minutes and they are done. My point, yes America will suffer unless a change is made. Excellent hub, and very well written. There was definitely a good reason for me to sign on to hubpages this afternoon. Voted up on your hub!!

Samsons,

Yes sir, let it begin with me. Now Lord, send revival--please!

Tina,

I'm so glad you stopped by, too. O couldn't sleep last night because of these thoughts. It's nice to know God was leading in this. Thanks for sharing.

Wow! It is truly amazing how God works in our lives. You with the burden to pray without ceasing, me on the other hand being under such conviction of Acts 17:6 these that have turned the world upside down have come hither also. Oh for the thought of hotting our knees and truly seeking the face of God, giving it all to Him that we may go out and see the wondrous things He will do if we are just obedient and go. His Spirit will give us the utterance in that tie of what we are to speak. Let it begin with me Lord let me have the obedience that you so deserve that I may serve you in spirit and truth, Amen.

This is a hub well spoken with truth. I recently had a situation where one of my children decided that the grass was greener on the other side and took off a month before graduation. Yesterday we were talking and I was told that there were many regrets that my child has made, but that they had begun to pray to God. (And will finish school.) All these years I had butted heads with the members of my family about my faith and now found a blessing that some things have stuck. It was by the power of prayer.

I remember as a child having a prayer revival and how amazing they were. I agree! It is time for another one.

Michael,

I can't help but believe we're in the beginning of God preparing to turn the world upside down. Bring it on!

Tipoague,

Yep, it's time for another one, and time to get back to where the grass is truly green. Thanks for the visit.

Lifegate, I have written a new hub on revival and prayer and linked this hub of yours to it. I thought you wouldn't mind as it goes so well with it.

Michael,

Nope. Don't mind at all. And may I mention that particular hub at http://hubpages.com/hub/Life-In-Christ. I hope many will go there, and not just read, but grab hold of the truth you are sharing. Keep on keeping on. After all ...is there not a cause?

Lifegate, I am agreement with you on this one. We all need to pray more, for our country, for our families and for our own growth. That is the only real answer to the way things are going. These are dark times, and the LORD is the one with the answers.

Prairieprincess,

I think prayer is about we have at this point, at least in America. The "Christian" church in the states is so far gone it's almost to the point of no return, but we're not there yet. we just need to pray, pray, pray! Thanks for the visit.

What really hit me in this hub was when you said, "The focus has become programs, pomp, and personalities."

I meditate often on the beginning of 1Corinthians chapter 2. Paul declares how he did not approach people with the kind of speech that entices people to listen. Many of these corporate preachers today are flamboyant personalities that motivate people with "enticing words of man's wisdom." They also put on a heck of a show with movie screens, sound effects, choreographed stage shows and music performances. Much of it is a gimmick to get people in the door, to get their wallets open. Prayer, especially prayer filled with anguish and desire, opens our hearts to hearing more clearly His direction for our lives. We can't save the world but if we can spare one soul, we are forgiven a multitude of sins. One by one, same as day by day - patience and longsuffering - our choice and pole to bear. Peace

Yes prayer is the most powerful weapon to ignite revivals across the land. Even here in the Philippines we need much revivals for believers has lost the fervent passion for Christ. It is worth laboring in prayers. Thank you for this timely reminder. Blessings to you and regards.

Great Hub!

From the rising of the sun, to its going down, the Lord's name is to be praised. Psalm 113:3

There is just no better way to jump- start your day. I mean it sincerely.

There's a fave. quote..."When your day is hemmed in prayer, it is less likely to unravel."

Great words! It is nice that at-least somebody is concerned about conscience and thinking of God in US. Too much of distraction is taking away people from God and you're right, prayer has just become a formality which you have to do because your parents take you to church in childhood. As soon as you become an adult, you are a free bird. I believe it shouldn't binding on any one and that can be done only by giving the understanding of prayer to everyone, irrespective of their religion.
