Living in Haunted Houses

Updated on December 28, 2010

Back then as a child, there has been some strange unexplained things in our old house that my parents never told us about. And I'm glad they didn't say a word about it til we were old enough to understand!

The Toilet Keeps Flushing

This may sound funny, but we had a ghost who likes to flush the toilet. I remember one early morning when I woke up from my crib . At that age I didn't even started school yet. I woke up because the damn toilet wouldn't stop flushing! So I thought that someone was in the bathroom. I've tried going back to sleep, but couldn't?! Since we were poor at the time, we all shared one big bedroom. My crib was crammed all the way to the right corner, while everyone else slept on two mattress side by side. So there were 7 of us at the time. While the toilet was still flushing non-stop, I wanted to find out who the culprit was. So I looked to the left and saw that there was my parents and my 4 siblings....Then who was in the bathroom? As soon as my dad woke up and head straight to use the bathroom, the flushing had stopped. Well, I still hear it every now and then, and thought nothing of it. My parents later told us that it was a haunted house. May be that some one died of a stomach virus or sickness in the bathroom. I was like, no, that couldn't be of a ghost doing that. The only toilet that flushes itself are mainly public restroom. But why does this one regular home toilet flush by itself?

This is just one example on youtube.com

Friendly Ghost?

Later on we moved to a much bigger house. The neighborhood was cleaned and the yards were freshly cut. My parents bought this house that had 3 bedroom and 2 bathroom, 1 garage, 1 kitchen, and a huge livingroom. We later had two more sister borned. At night, the two youngest girls would sleep on one of our many couches in the livingroom. One night my younger sister said that she heard our side door from the garage opened. She heard the heavy footsteps coming in from the kitchen to the livingroom. She looked up and saw a figured of our mom in a green Thailand dress wrapped up sleeping on the sofa across from her. She said, mommy? Why are you sleeping there? No response. So she just went back to bed. It was actually a friendly ghost to allow my sister to see itself as my mom to ease her. Believe it or not, I saw the same figured sleeping on the sofa one morning when I was about to do the laundry. I remember the back door was left wide open. So I thought, maybe dads outside already? So I ran out to greet him, but there was no one. So I went ahead and load the laundry. Walk passed the sofa that was now empty and head back to the bedroom. Maybe mom went to the bathroom? Didn't think nothing of it at the time. Walked passed my parents room and saw her asleep in her own covers. Okay, mom will you make up your mind? We later found out that she never slipped out of bed to sleep in the livingroom of that house.

This visitor also walked in one night when we had a some relatives who slept over in the livingroom. And yes, they all had their share of spooky experience that night and never wanted to spend another night here.

My dad tends to have his own way of driving the ghost out of our house. The first house that they had when only my brother was just a baby, there was this intruder ghost. It would opened the door. Walked through the house as if had on heavy boots on stomping and pacing around the house. It occured almost every night disrupting my parents sleep. My dad said that he decided to use one of my brothers toys in front of the door to see if that'll scared the intruder away. He said that he hung some sort of toy bird that rings loudly when it is pushed side by side makes a ringing noise.

Locking out the ghost?

My dad thinks that someone was playing games with us, but he probably knew that it was of a ghost's doings. Every day our backdoor and side door would be left wide opened even though we had locked it. So my dad decided to change the locked on the back door and side door. Guess what? Now our ghostly visitor couldn't enter through the back door anymore, but instead went through the front door?! My aunt who lives across the street from us said, what the hell were you guys thinking leaving your own front door wide opened like that?! My dad went right ahead and changed the front door locks. Since then we've never seen our motherly figured.

If some of you have read some of my previous post, I was moved in to foster care later on in life. All of my foster parents had taught me to believe in God for which I was very thankful for before this next encounter. My third foster home was with a nice laid back white woman. She rents this house on top of a steep hill. Everything was nice and peachy until we decided to fix the doorbell. And yes, like that damn toilet experience I had as a child, this doorbell wouldn't stop ringing?! It's no wonder the previous owner had it ripped off!

My Scariest Experience!!!

Later on, she decided to have another child to foster in the home. It was a fifteen-year-old teenager who once stayed with us for Christmas as a means of wanting to spend time with a family. I remember her crying when she had to be dropped back off in to the group home. My foster mom felt so sorry for her that she brought the child back to live with us. This girl, wanted to be involved with a crowd of wiccas, or witchcraft practice at the school. She was dead serious in to practicing this religion. She has her collection of candles and books to practice with. Now that, I didn't care about at the time, but having to share the same room with her was much more horrible. She gets the top bunk bed while I slept on the bottom. Why? So I could cut off the lights and music down here in order to get some damn sleep!

Then came this one night that I'll never forget. I remember I suddenly had this strange feeling that we were not alone in the bedroom. I slowly peeked and saw a glimps of a shadow walking in. And all the next thing I knew, my eyes immediately shut itself and my entire body was frozen. I tried to fight whatever was locking my body in place. I remember trying to move my toes and open my eyes. I was wide awake trying to push myself out of bed. Then suddenly my entire body rose itself up out of my mattress in mid-air!? I remember some cold hands had forced my arms to go across each other on my chest like a mummy being wrapped up after its dead. Then I heard an very eerie evil voice. I couldn't understand its language. Didn't sound like a man or woman, but more like a demon! I was so scared, that I couldn't scream or move my lips! So I decided to pray in my heart. "In the name of Jesus, I command you to let go of me!" I was immediately dropped back to my mattress, but still couldn't move. The demonic voice then rosed up and was trying to communicate to the 15 year old girl!? Good thing she didn't noticed it! As soon as I had managed to move, I ran in to my foster moms room and jumped on her crying like a little child who had a nightmare. I was 17 at the time, and know damn well that was no nightmare! She told me to calm down. I explained to her of what happened. She paused, and said there are no such things as ghost. No go back to bed. I said, oh hell no! I'm going to sleep in this other bed across from ya. And please keep the lamp on!

The next morning, I told the 15 year old girl of what happened. She was crying hysterically scared. I have no idea if her practice of wicca had anything to trigger that event. So later my foster mom then decided to tell us that there was an elder lady that had died in the same bedroom that we slept in. I was like, great that explains a lot. So whenever the doorbell rings on it's own, my heart was pounding like crazy. I was scared that she was going to come back and get me! What's worse, I was home alone most of the time, so I begged her to take the doorbell down. And you bet I kept my bible and cross necklace with me at my bedside. I prayed every night for protection.

Now that was one hell of an experience I had. But in a good sense, there are some friendly ghost and then there are some evil ones. Whenever the topic of ghostly hauntings were talked about, I would remind everyone what I did to save myself. Just pray in your heart and cry out to the Lord when you are surrounded by evil.
