Giving God a Makeover to Fit Our Selfish Needs
Today, we are part of the end times as Scripture has prophesied. It does not take much to read the latest headlines to see the fulfillment of some of them. Apostle Paul warned that apostasy would be the church system. Many do not understand the very concept of the word because the truths of Scripture have not been emphasized clearly enough. The Bible has taken a backseat to compromising standards that have made God into an image that He is not. Religious men have made Him into something that fits in best with their our own self-reasoning. The man driven church system has given God a makeover to be a compromising, feel good, user friendly, "bubble-gum," reformed, unbalanced, and politically-correct God to fit their selfish needs.
But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron - 1 Timothy 4:1-2
We are living in times where Satan is having a heyday among the masses where there is a demonically energized agenda taking place. Without knowing the truth of God’s Word, there will be a lack of nourishment, discernment revelation to the deception that is happening today. In the New Testament, Paul says that we must be constantly feeding ourselves with truth.
In pointing out these things to the brethren, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, constantly nourished on the words of the faith and of the sound doctrine which you have been following. - 1 Timothy 4:6
We may not fully understand, or comprehend the perfect image of God, but that does not give us the right to create the full image of God based on our vain imaginations. Man has created God to fit into their image, rather than the other way around.into our own image. The result is a predictable and an easy-to-figure-out God created from finite and fallible imaginations. Today, the God that is worshipped was created to be palatable and feel good.
Here are some common phrases that are catalyzing the makeover of God in the modern church today that are producing the casualties of their apostasy:
- Jesus is my "homeboy."
- God accepts me, even though I don’t live up to the truths of His word. I am "saved"; God just looks the other way when I sin.
- God makes me feel good; conviction of sin does not make me feel good.
- God knows my background; therefore, He understands where I am coming from and makes allowances for me.
- God is good and does not allow suffering, nor condemn my chosen lifestyle.
- God boosts my image and self-esteem to bring acceptance with my peers.
- My church is accepting and welcoming to everybody because we can't help who we are and the way we were born.
- Don't feel guilty for your sin; there is no condemnation here.
- It is not sin, but rather an inconvenience.
But the rest of it he makes into a god, his graven image. He falls down before it and worships; he also prays to it and says, “Deliver me, for you are my god.” - Isaiah 44:17
They do not know, nor do they understand, for He has smeared over their eyes so that they cannot see and their hearts so that they cannot comprehend. No one recalls, nor is there knowledge or understanding to say, “I have burned half of it in the fire and also have baked bread over its coals. I roast meat and eat it. Then I make the rest of it into an abomination, I fall down before a block of wood!” - Isaiah 44:18-19
Satan is very clever and he is up to his same-old tricks catching many off guard. Satan put many stumbling blocks in front of the Israelites to keep them out of the Promised Land. Today, he is doing the same by setting the environment for glamorous and attractive compromises. Many are gobbling it up like cotton candy. Nourishment from the truth is exchanged for a quick-fix, lukewarm doctrines that are carnally designed to please the masses.
Nevertheless, with most of them God was not well-pleased; for they were laid low in the wilderness. Now these things happened as examples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as they also craved. Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written, “THE PEOPLE SAT DOWN TO EAT AND DRINK, AND STOOD UP TO PLAY.” Nor let us act immorally, as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in one day. Nor let us try the Lord, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the serpents. Nor grumble, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the destroyer. Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall. - 1 Corinthians 10:5-12
Often, when watered-down religion takes precedence, the Holy Spirit does not work in the person’s life by conviction. Self-esteem is replaced for conviction creating a carnal confidence that makes you feel ok with yourself. God is considered a “best friend forever” or a “homeboy” who is non-judgemental and affirming. God has been reinvented into a sinful image.
If Scripture says that God is unchanging, then why are people changing Him?
The man-driven church today has conformed to a “user-friendly” mentality where the new definition of the “good news” is by being accepting and compromising of any lifestyle choice. The messages are often catered toward self-analysis, self-fulfillment and self-esteem. Self has become god, which equates to idolatry. The authority of Christ has been replaced for an affirmative support groups, rather than about salvation message. The latest wares of the modern church are specialized books and seminars for the masses that teach you how you can change yourself to be a better person through self-fulfillment. Teaching and preaching the word of God is distorted to fit a man-made mould. The scales are tipped toward the one-sidedness of mercy, forgiveness, and love of sinners, but righteousness, holiness and hatred of sin are missing. This is an unbalanced view of who God is.
We not only change God to conform to our needs, but we also change the truth as well. We call it an amendment, but really it is another comprise.
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. - 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
The power of the Gospel has been compromised with religious syncretism where many diverse and contending belief systems try to merge together. An ecumenical interfaith doctrine is called "unity," instead of being in one accord with Jesus Christ.
A balanced version of who God is can be summed up in this next verse:
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 6:23
A true and accurate image of God is the truth of Scripture that is God-breathed and God-inspired, not self-breathed and self-inspired. “Christianity” is a term that I don’t use anymore because it has lost its true meaning to a more amended "politically correct" definition. A more precise and accurate term I believe is a follower of Christ because who knows the laws of God and His true Gospel.
We all have the potential to fall astray and become influenced by the deceptive antichrist spirits of these last days. Christ is the only one who can give you revelation in areas where you may have veered off the straight and narrow path. Only he can reveal to you the snares and pitfalls of Satan’s schemes and deceptions. It is so vital to be able to discern and know without a doubt the counterfeit that so many have embraced as truth; otherwise, we will become more blinded to delusion as the intensity of the demonic continues to ramp up. Satan is clever and uses what we may think as an insignificant compromise, but it eventually compounds to an infested faith that leads to destruction. Essentially, the "termites" attack the foundation of the faith leaving the victim unaware to what is happening.
Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough? Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed. - 1 Corinthians 5:6-
Before Christ returns, we must contend for and stand strong in our relationship with him by intensifying our study and understanding of Scripture. Christ can and will open our eyes via the Holy Spirit to give us strength and boldness in these areas in these end times; all we have to do is ask.
Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall. - 1 Corinthians 10:12
- Church: Carnival Rides, Games and Sideshows
Most mega churches have lots of money and can be raised up to "Disney Land status in order to entertain the flock, while the smaller less elite ones can be considered the "county fair".
- Examples of Confronting Error in the Body of Christ
Taking a stand and defending truth will causes dissension and "ruffle feathers" within the Body of Christ, but the Truth must be used to judge what is righteous and unrighteous behavior.

The modern “church” promotes a cesspool of false doctrines; it is no longer a safe place to attend any man-made building that has been erected on every other street corner.
The Holy Spirit in the church has been replaced with an imitation, an antichrist spirit dressed up in white magic.
