Moms In Touch - Praying for Children and Their Schools

Our children are in a war and many of them do not even know they are in the midst of a battle. This warfare is happening in our homes, our cities, even our churches. But it is also happening in our schools.

Never before have our schools been such a battleground. Our children in schools face many challenges - bullying, peer pressure to do drugs have sex and drink alcohol, guns, wearing immodest clothing, poverty, suicide, anxiety, abuse by school staff, the list goes on and on.

Why is this happening? The thief (Satan) comes to kill, steal and destroy and he wants our children's souls. What do we do about this? We come together and pray. We pray that God would protect our children but it becomes harder and harder as the battle for their souls continues to rage.

Recently, I was e-mailed a newsletter from the prayer ministry, Moms in Touch International. I was shocked to read the following: "A teacher encountered a man “praying” near her high school classroom—but he wasn’t a Christian. He was from the nearby church of Satan. He said their churches send teams every week to pray Satan onto school campuses."

Moms In Touch International

Moms in Touch International was founded by Fern Nichols in 1984 when her two sons were about to enter junior high. She knew about the peer pressure they were going to be facing and while praying for her sons, she also prayed for a like-minded mom to pray with her.

Another mom did join her and soon other moms prayed with them as well. They began to meet on a weekly basis. They prayed for their children, the teachers, the staff and the whole school. That was the beginning of Moms In Touch International. Currently, there is a Moms In Touch chapter in every state and also in over 120 countries around the world.

Moms in Touch International is an interdenominational, nonprofit, donation-supported prayer ministry that incorporates the following:

  • Two or more moms meeting regularly to pray for their children, their schools, their teachers and administrators.
  • Mothers, grandmothers or anyone willing to pray for a specific child and school
  • Moms believing that prayer makes a difference

According to their website, www.momsintouch.org, the purpose of their ministry is:

  • To pray that our children will receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, then stand boldly in their faith
  • To pray for teachers and staff
  • To pray that teachers, administrative staff, and students would come to faith in Jesus Christ
  • To provide support and encouragement to moms who carry heavy burdens for their children
  • To pray that our schools will be directed by biblical values and high moral standards
  • To be an encouragement and a positive support to our schools
  • To be an encouragement and a positive support to our schools

Joining a Moms in Touch Chapter

I personally had a lot of anxiety when my daughter started kindergarten in the fall of 2009. I had known about Moms and Touch and wished their was a chapter at the school she was attending. I thought about starting one but with my daughter only going to school half-days, I didn't think I could commit the time I needed. After praying about it, I was introduced to another mom at my daughter's school who said she wanted to start a Moms in Touch chapter!

I am now a co-leader of our chapter where my daughter attends elementary school. I am very grateful for this ministry. It is wonderful getting together once a week to pray for the kids and staff at my daughter's school. There are so many needs to pray for and yet many of our prayers have been answered!

If you are a mom who is concerned about your child in school, I strongly encourage you to join a Mom's in Touch Chapter. You can go here, to see if there is an existing group praying for your child's school. If there is none, their website gives you all of the information on how you can start your own chapter.

If you no longer have a child in school, there are other Moms in Touch groups you can join. The purpose of these special groups is to get like-minded moms with similar causes to come together and pray for their children and/or their adult children. Some of these groups include: college/university, career, grandmothers, special needs, military, homeschool, prison/jail, working moms. To search for a group in your area go here.

It is wonderful if you are a mom who already prays for your child and your child's school, but Moms In Touch really encourages at least two like-minded moms to come together to pray. This ministry takes to heart Matthew 18:20 which states, "For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

If you don't think that praying for our children and their schools is important, please reread the first part of this hub. We are in a battle and it seems that Satan is winning. The only thing that can reverse this trend is to pray, pray and pray some more. This is a battle we need to win - our children's lives and souls are at stake.

This is a much needed article. I hope it will get our attention. For real. It's time we (the church) wake up and realize that satan is real, he's not asleep and he's not showing mercy on any of us, not even on the littles ones.

The battle has been on. We need to get more engaged and pray for our babies.

I like where you say your daughter's school is covered in prayer on a weekly basis. The angels of the Lord are encamped about the campus because of prayer. God bless you, woman of God.

Even if we're not parents, we should be praying for the children of this world and their schools.

Thank you for this article. I hope God will open many eyes to the truths you've expressed here and cause us to pray for the children.

We should be praying without ceasing.

Sounds like a great organization. No doubt our children need the protection these mothers provide through their prayers.

Cari, I would be shocked to see someone praying at school from a satan church. Mom's in prayer sounds like a wonderful thing to do. There is so much evil in this world now we should truly pray without ceasing. Rated up!

Moms In Touch has indeed been a tremendous force for our parent and children. Cari Jean, I agree with you 100%. The schools are indeed a spiritual and natural battleground especially these day. In Baltimore, it is 100% Urban inner city ministry in an are loaded with prostitution, drugs and gang violence. Tiny children have been accidently shop in drivebys. Teachers are often zero help which is why the kids need a solid foundation from the home. It is why ur Childrens Church and Lights of the Lamb Ministry is so active.

I applaud you highly for writing about this and making it possible for others to know about this outstanding organization and you're right. Even if you are not a parent, put these little ones in your daily prayers. They're in it up to their neck every day.

Thank you for this article. I knew there were lots of good people all over the world. I think it is long past time we become active in our Christian faith. My husband is a police officer, and has been to training on satanic organizations. One of the scariest things he learns is that they say: "you don't know who we are. Your children come to our houses to play. You may never know what happens while they are in our homes." That is scary to me. But we cannot be paranoid to let our children go off to play. But we cannot be stupid either. Prayer is our best offense and defense. Pray that you will know when your children are in danger, and pray that the angels will attend them. Then rest in peace, trusting that will happen.

It doesn't matter what kind of school your child goes to, satan is there to try and take your child! I homeschool my children because of all the wickedness in our schools and I am so thankful that I am able to do this, but Satan still tries to get to my kids too! There are so many subtle ways and I have to be on guard at all times. I am going to go and see if there is a homeschool group of moms in this organization in my area. Thank you for letting me know about this group!

yolanda yvette - thank you so much for your great comment. You are right, we need to pray without ceasing. The enemy has no mercy even on the most innocent little lives. He is the master of cruelty and does whatever it takes to destroy our children's lives. We must have the angels encamped around our children wherever they go including school.

Unchained Grace - thanks so much for your compassionate comment. I cannot imagine what going to school in the inner city would be like for a child. My heart goes out to the kids who go to school and have to survive yet another day. I'm so grateful to you and others like you with your ministries in these areas. God bless.

HealthyHanna - that is really scary about the satanic organizations. It's like they pride themselves on appearing to be normal, knowing they are fooling everyone. You're right that we can't be paranoid but we parents do have to be very discerning. We really need to be tuned in to what the Holy Spirit is telling us. Thank you so much for your comment.

Karen - thanks for your comment, I always appreciate you stopping by. And you are right, it is not just in the schools it is at home as well. I am very thankful for the wonderful school my daughter goes to you but as wonderful as it is, I know I need to remain on guard. The devil is very sneaky. I hope you find a group in your area!

It is important no only to be involved with our children's education, but to pray for their schools and teachers. As a teacher, even though it is not allowed my sister often prays for her students.

2besure - I love that your sister prays for her students! I know there are many teachers at my daughter's school who are Christians and I would hope that they pray for their students as well and also plant little seeds in their students' lives! Thanks for your comment!

On behalf of Moms In Touch International, thanks so much for helping get the word out about the importance of praying for children and schools. I'm going to post this on our Facebook page. :o)

Dear Lord, bless each one who visits this page. Encourage them to take a step of faith, like Cari Jean did, and start a Moms In Touch International group. May you bring each one another mom to pray with them, to spend time each week covering their children and their school (or homeschool) in Scripture-based prayer. May they realize that starting a group is simple and spelled out on our website, www.MomsInTouch.org. Lord, we pray Your hand of protection on each one of our kids and schools. In Your Holy, Precious Name, Amen.

I thought your article was very useful as well as beautiful. Content is true and prayer is so needed. At my Church we meet every Saturday morning for prayer. We consistently pray for our children. Although my children are grown, I do keep up before the Lord my 2 grandchildren. When my children were young, we would have a family prayer every morning before they left for school. What your organization is doing is wonderful. I will past this information along to our Women Ministry.

bettybarnesb - thank you so much for your comment. It is wonderful how you get together for Saturday morning prayer and that you had prayer every day before school. That is something I should be doing with my daughter in addition to praying for her and her schoolmates once a week. Thanks so much for passing this on to your Women's Ministry - that is greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much for sharing your prayer ideas. I have been burdened about the same for quite some time and now have decided to meet with another friend of mine to pray for our children.

What you say is true: According to John 10:10, Satan comes to kill, steal and destroy... but, Praise God that Jesus has come to give life and to give it abundantly! Let us pray abundant life in the name of Jesus for our children. May God Bless and your ministry.
