Morning Coffee with Jesus - December 15, 2009
Greetings loved ones!
Today’s “Morning Coffee with Jesus” comes from Luke 1:37. “For nothing is impossible with God.”
Recently during a Bible study, the group began talking about Jesus’ birth. We discussed how Jesus, the Savior of the world, came to earth as a baby, in the midst of the “common folk.” Even though Jesus was the Son of God, His entrance into this ordinary world came with little fanfare. Jesus was an extraordinary gift given to the world and Jesus brings His extraordinary gifts today, many times right into the ordinary lives of ordinary people of this culture.
As we discussed, Mary, Jesus’ mother, was one of those ordinary people chosen by God to perform an extraordinary task. We don’t know if Mary was the only woman the angel spoke to on that day regarding bearing the Son of God but Mary was the first one to accept the responsibility. Imagine the enormous amount of faith required when she learned that she was going to become pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit! It is hard to imagine that happening – even today with the wonders of medical technology. But there was no medical technology in existence 2000 years ago and so for Mary the absence of medical technology made her faith quite amazing! She truly did believe the words of Gabriel when he said, “Nothing is impossible with God.”
What impossibilities do you face today? What situation has arisen that you believe is an impossible one in which God cannot intervene? Do you have the right to declare that God cannot work in any given situation irrespective of how you may view it?
For a moment, Mary questioned. She asked, “How can this be?” But once Gabriel explained it, Mary yielded her will to God and the world was never the same again. Most times, we won’t have an angel visit us to explain “how.” Yield to God anyway. Allow Him to work in you and through you. Like Mary, you could never imagine what God can do through your willingness. Give God the opportunity to turn your “impossible” into “possible” and allow the fullness of Jesus to be born in you.
Have an incredible day in Jesus! Go MAD in someone’s life today.
Stay sweet,
stay broken,
stay His!
Blessings,
E.
