Morning Coffee with Jesus - December 28, 2009
Greetings loved ones!
Today's “Morning Coffee with Jesus" comes from Phil. 4:8 "Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things."
Roman Emperor Marcus Antoninus wrote, "For nowhere either with more quiet or more freedom from trouble does a man retire than into his own soul; particularly when he has within him such thoughts, that by looking into them he is immediately in perfect tranquility. And I affirm that tranquility is nothing else than the good ordering of the mind."
Where does the "tranquility" which is "the good ordering of the mind" come from? It comes from the daily pursuit of righteous, holy living. It comes from knowing that despite all that the world throws at us, when we do our very best, we can look at ourselves in the mirror at the end of the day and be confident that we've done as much as we can to be like Christ.
Talk about a challenge! But with all that the world throws at us we must remember that we're human. Because we are human, we sin. Coming to Christ, asking forgiveness from our sin, recognizing that the redemptive work on the cross frees us from being bound by that sin, THAT is freedom!!
As you go about your day today, please remember to think of the positive people, things, and situations you have in your life. I'm sure if you begin to count them you'll find that there are many!!
