Morning Coffee with Jesus - February 2, 2010

 Greetings loved ones!

Today’s “Morning Coffee with Jesus” comes from Psalm 139:23-24. “Search me O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.  See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

Marcus Antoninus, Roman Emperor from 161 AD until his death in 180 AD wrote, “Such as are thy habitual thoughts, such also will be the character of thy mind; for the soul is dyed by the thoughts.  Dye it then with a continuous series of such thoughts as these: for instance, that where a man can live, there he can also live well.  But he must live in a palace: well, then, he can also live well in a palace.”

On my checks, which I order through my credit union, there is a saying by Buddha: “What we think, we become.”  I chose those checks at a time in my life when I was emotionally beaten down and feeling as though I had little to offer.  I also remember reading the Bible and holding onto the hope that if Jesus cares about the sparrows surely He cares for me.  So, with the little self-esteem I had left, I began to think of myself as having some worth.  Jesus’ love for me as evidenced in His Word was a reminder to me that each positive thought I pondered about myself was a golden nugget of truth.  As I thought about the fact that maybe, just maybe I could find happiness for myself in my life, it began to happen inside me.

So what positive thoughts can you think of today which will move your thinking forward?  What is it about yourself that you genuinely like?  Take those golden nuggets and hold them close to your heart.  When the world kicks you, pull out that golden nugget and hold it up as a reminder to yourself that though circumstances don’t always work in our favor we have the ability to let it bother us or not bother us.  How you respond says a lot about you.

Remember, “What we think, we become” so be positive, focused, and never, ever stop seeing the good things in yourself because they make you special to your spouse, your children, your parents, your friends and especially to me!

Have a great day in the Lord!  Go MAD in someone’s life today!

Stay sweet!
Stay broken!
Stay His!

Good hub, Elisa, and one of my favorite verses, yet a little scary on one hand, when we realize that God can search every last part of us...May every part of my heart, soul and mind be dedicated to Him! Thank you so much for these hubs!
