Morning Coffee with Jesus - January 25, 2010

Greetings loved ones!  Welcome to Monday and another opportunity to serve the Lord!

Today’s “Morning Coffee with Jesus” comes from Psalm 34:13.  “…keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies.”

As most of you probably know by now, a well-known Christian TV show host made the unfortunate comment, “The earthquake is punishment for Haiti's 'Pact with the Devil.'”

Unfortunately a comment such as this does much to harm the kingdom of God, His people, and those whose hearts are searching for truth, loving kindness, and an opportunity to really know a loving Father and an awesome Savior.

When irresponsible words such as these are spoken, people who have little knowledge of the attributes of God and little knowledge of the scriptures wonder about the truth behind the words spoken by such a prominent figure; their assumption is that surely he is correct.  As a result, those who might have been seeking the loving Savior question why they would want to have anything to do with a god who kills people and brings the whole of a nation to its knees.

So how should we respond when those who don’t know our Father’s love speak out against Him because of the erroneous words of someone who should have known better?  The best thing to do is not to dwell on or “bash” our brother in Christ, but to pray that God will reveal His truth to him.  Further, I believe that we should speak from our own experiences, sharing those moments when, time after time, God has come through for us.  Looking at it from a positive perspective, the opportunity exists to share Christ with those who might otherwise not have listened!

Today as you delve into your day, remember that God is a god of love.  His heart is hurting over those who perished in Haiti’s earthquake without ever knowing Him.  God didn’t punish Haiti with an earthquake but God is certainly providing an opportunity for His word to be shared with those hurting people today.  Please keep them and those providing aid in your thoughts and prayers.

Have an awesome day in Jesus.  Go MAD in someone’s life today.

Stay sweet,
stay broken,
stay His!

Thanks for the encouragement Ann. It is unfortunate that I had to write it in the first place but hopefully it will generate conversation and opportunities to share Christ with others.
