Morning Coffee with Jesus - September 29, 2012
Greetings loved ones!
Today’s “Morning Coffee with Jesus comes from Philippians 3:13,14
“But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
Have you ever made a decision that you later regret? If so, what was it? I have a few. They include:
1) Not getting a college degree after high school
2) Turning down an acceptance of admission at the Guitar Study Center in New York City
3) Saying “yes” to a date with a guy who turned out to be a stalker (fortunately he eventually went away with no harm to me).
I’m sure, if I think about it for a little bit I could come up with other decisions I regret making. I’ve learned from decisions I’ve made (bad AND good!) and I often wonder if I consistently make the right decision, what in life is there to learn??
When we make bad decisions it is usually due to a lack of information, fear, a perceived or actual lack of resources, and the list goes on. But looking back on the decision and evaluating what we could have done differently to result in a better outcome gives us a healthy perspective on what information may be needed to make a better decision the next time around.
Maybe today you are beating yourself up over a decision you made that turned out disastrous. Don’t beat yourself up over it. Learn from your mistake, lean on Christ and move forward. Maybe you made a really good decision and you’re reveling in that decision longer than you should. A little humility is in order and if you don’t get to a place of humility quickly, God will get you there!
Draw close to Christ today. Seek Him regarding important decisions. You have been given logic, intuition, and the Holy Spirit to guide you. Pay attention to those!
Have an awesome day in Jesus!
Stay sweet,
stay broken,
stay His!
Blessings,
E.
