My God I rest in Thee

Amazing Witnessing Tool

I bowed on my knees, one day in glory

Resting in God, Finding Strength Through God

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings of eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

Resting in God, finding the peace and mercy that flows from His throne, knowing when to yield to His grace, that He may sustain our lives. This is what we so often look for yet cannot find. The peace that only rest in our Saviiour can give. Matthew 11:28,"Come unto me all ye that are heavy laden and I will give you rest." Come to Jesus find the resting place that only Christ may provide for you. He is the author and finisher of our faith and Jesus will give you the rest you need. We make ourselves to work long hours wondering how we will get by, not knowing what is around the next corner. We put too many hours into the day and no longer take time to rest in God. Yes, I mean rest in God, not necessarily resting by taking a nap or getting to bed a few minutes earlier. I am talking about taking the time to seek the face of God and ask for His providence in our lives. We need to stop and ask God for the daily bread only our provider Jehovah Jira may give.

MY SOURCE

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; He also is become my salvation. (Isaiah 12:2)

I bow down on my knees and cry holy, holy, holy, I clap my hands and say glory, glory to the Lamb of God. He is why I do not surrender, He is why I keep my feet moving. God has planted me in His grace and hears my cries for mercy. He alone may be my hiding place, my rock and my shield.

He has become my salvation and my source. Christ has bore my sorrow and nailed it to His cross. When I could not come to where He was he came to me and took me in. He pulled me up when I had no strength left to stand. Jesus willingly took my sin and sacrificed his very life so I may come to the throne of grace boldly. Oh, the perfect joy casting my cares upon the LORD.

Matthew 8:20

The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man hath not where to lay his head. Though Jesus had no earthly home He has gone to prepare us a place that where He is there we may be also. Then when He comes He will take us home. Rest will be ours throughout eternity. The rest that Christ has promised. For now we have work to perform, not a performance of show, but a giving of the Word of God. God gives us our daily need, He supplies us with the power to testify of the glorious love only a Saviour like Jesus Christ may leave to us.

BLESSED ARE YE

And when men shall come against us, we have nowhere to hide, we have no one to turn to, and grow weary from trying to be righteous for the sake of the Gospel, praise be to God we have our King. Jesus said," Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and say all manners of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." Matthew 5:10-12 Jesus gives us the comfort we may need, He knows the words to say to us and how to pick us up when we are trodden under the feet of men.

YOU ARE MINE------- JESUS

Jesus has guided His hand over us and even taken our case to the Lord God Himself for us. He the Lord Jesus Christ prayed to God the Father in our stead raising our needs up to God for our protection, for our daily needs for all that we come in contact with that they may know we are the Son's. John 17, the prayer of Jesus for His people. In verse 9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them WHICH THOU HAST GIVEN ME; FOR THEY ARE MINE. What a joy, what a comfort knowing that Jesus said we are His! He knows us as He knows God the Father and He has prayed for God to keep us. John 17:10 states,"AND ALL MINE ARE THINE, AND THINE ARE MINE; AND I AM GLORIFIED IN THEM." Jesus is glorified in us as His children. He has given to us His love and taken that to God the Father to keep us. Jesus the Christ holds us everyday, He gives us the rest and re-assurance to keep us on our guard as workers for the cross of calvary.

GIVEN ALL

Jesus marched up the hill of Golgotha, bearing the burden of His cross. He had upon it all my cares, worries, and debt of sin. He stretched out His hands, laid out His feet. There the soldiers nailed Him and lifted the cross so all could see Him hanging over the hillside. He bled, He cried out to God the Father and finally gave up the Ghost and died. Gone were my cares, worries and the debt of sin. Praise His holy name! He reached down and touched me, gave me rest, quieted my storms. My Jesus.

Awesome Work! God's healing touch, is all we need:) He is at work in us, to save those who are lost, and heal the broken hearted:) Really enjoyed how you put this together. The song too, was great! There is nothing like the old songs, that move upon our hearts:) Thank you!

heart, thanks for the reply, I agree some of these old songs have such power in them. I have seen Danny Funderburg a few times when he was with Squire Parsons, they had come to our church. I am the one who does not sit back, I gotta go and gotta be doing, It is so hard sometimes to just stop and say God I need rest. I know my rest is in Him I just need to take the time to do so. That is what this was actually to be about. Amazing how God changes a paragraph or 2 and it comes out a bit different.

Michael,

Wonderful hub! Not only did He die for my sin but He rose again--oh, and He's coming back. We can all rest in the Truth of His Word.

Its a message we can hear too much, indeed we need to be reminded over and over, because we all too quickly let th cares of this world consume our minds. Thank you for a wonderful devotional.

Michael: Just as Jesus gave peace to Peter in the boat as He ordered the winds to be silent and the waves to cease. Just as He offered His peace to the Apostles in the upper room after His crucifixion, He gives peace to us His Brothers and sisters who have chosen to follow Him.

Brother Dave.

I've commented several times that you life is an inspiration to me. These words also inspire. I have recently discovered that my thinking of who God is was microscopic compared to the reality of how big He really is. This new understanding magnified the power in your words to capture the greatness of the One who is for me.

Brother Dave M., You are so right He gives us peace when we follow Him and as I tried to say we need to sometimes just stop and listen.

fred allen, thank you so much for the awesome comment and compliment, and as I wrote in a hub about the size of God, don't tell God how big the storm is but rather tell the storm how big our God is! I am so happy what I have written inspires people, that is why I write to be an inspiration.
