Near Death Experiences
12 Inch's Of Death
The Warthog Pacifier
One of the most common experiences in every person's life journey are near death experiences. Not just one but many. In our life walk death is only one wrong step away, and whether you believe it or not there is a champion for life and a villian of death. The champion being God Almighty and the villian being the devil, both fighting in the unseen realm to either keep us on the path of life or draw us onto the road that leads to death.
On my life's journey, I have come a “cropper” as they might call it, many a time. These are some short stories of near death experiences I have had, or attempted murders by the devil, because ultimately the devil is trying to kill us. But what he likes to forget, and so do we, is that there is a big awesome God who often moves heaven and earth to keep us alive.
Before I turned 1 year old, my mom and dad went to spend a weekend at my grandparent's place. My grandparents had a cot set up in my uncle's old bedroom, which had a full view of the road that ran past the front of the house. My uncle is an avid hunter and the one trophy he did not remove from the room, was right above my cot on the curtain pelmet. Now, the bottom jaw of a warthog with 12 inch tusks, shouldn't have posed a threat to me, but my uncle neglected to remove the giant candy pacifier hanging from the longest tusk.
Before I tell you what happened next, I had better let you know what happened before. My parents were asleep in the room next door, when my mom woke up because of a bright light shining out of my room. When she came into the bedroom, the whole room was lit up by a bright golden light. There were no cars in the street and no street lamp to shine into the bedroom. The light was coming from a focal point above my cot. My mom couldn't get any closer to me than the door, but she felt completely at ease that I was safe.
So, what happened with the giant candy pacifier? Well, what do you think? I had to have it didn't I, so I stood up as best I could, reached out to grab it and gave a mighty tug! I did get my giant candy pacifier, but also a giant 12 inch tusk righ in the top of my head! When my whole family came into the room because of my screams of pain, they found me holding the pacifier with a beautiful crimson fountain of blood gushing out of the top of my head!
Death A Size 9 Away
Death Only 30cm Away
That was my first near death experience. A few months later I ended up in hospital where the doctors had to put iv drips in my head because diptheria had weakened me to the point where I coudn't even eat. At the age of about 3½ my two sisters and I, with our nanny, hand spent the weekend with my uncle and aunt. The arrangement was that my uncle and aunt would drive us back to meet my parents at my grandparents house on a Sunday night. For some reason we left quite late on that Sunday night in their little VW beetle and half way there, it became really foggy. My uncle was driving, my 1 year old baby sister was on my aunt's lap in the front seat, my 2 year old sister was sitting in the back on my left, and I was standing in the middle between the two front seats with our nanny sitting on my right. As we came onto the highest bridge in Zimbabwe, my uncle had already reduced his speed significantly, but not enough to stop us from rear ending a land rover which was involved in a pile up in the middle of the bridge.
Eventually, the police arrived and took control of the situation, but not before there was a sixteen car pile up on that bridge. Because of the massive impact, my uncle being a very strong man, had locked both his arms to take the impact and in the process, folded the steering wheel double. My aunt and my baby sister had to be cut out of the car with the jaws of life, because they had slid underneath the dashboard and gotten wedged. My other sister sitting next to me, got some glass in her face and our nanny had the worst injury, a gush above her right eye just below her hairline which need about 6-10 stitches.
Once we were free from the wreck, the police officer pointed out to my uncle that we were very lucky, because the car had smashed through the guard railings and was 30cm away from plummeting 130m down into the river below. But I know there is no such thing as luck, only the grace and mercy of God.
Only The Strong
Keep Going Strong
At my last count, I believe I have had 12 near death experiences in my short 35 years. Twice I almost drowned from massive freak waves that threatened to wash me out to sea. Three more car accidents excluding the one above. One drug overdose where I was dead for about 15 seconds. Assaulted by drug gangsters with fire arms. Crashing an ATV into a creek where it landed on top of me and I was pinned facedown in the water.
Now, I am sure you have your own stories of near death experiences and I would love to hear them, but more importantly, I don't fear death. I believe that bright, golden light that appeared above my cot as a baby, was God or one of His mighty angels blessing me and putting His protection on me.
You can say, “Yeah, but I don't believe in God and all that mumbo jumbo. I need to see it to believe it. Well, my mom saw it and she believed it, and I lived it.
I have a very strong conviction in my heart that you are who you are, where you are, with what you have on the inside of you, for a purpose and until that purpose is fulfilled, God will do His utmost to keep you alive. Fulfillment in life cannot be attained unless we are living out our purpose. You and I were born into this generation because this generation needs what we have and the devil will do everything in his power to kill us. But he cannot do it out right, he has to get us to go along with his suggestions. He can only tempt us to do stupid things which ultimately brings us closer to death's door. But he cannot touch us without our permission. When Jesus Christ died on the cross, He defeated satan, hell and the grave. He took the power of death away from satan and gave the power to us. How do I know that? Because the Bible says, “that the power of life and death is in the tongue.”
Jesus also said, “Today, I place before you blessing and cursing, life and death. Choose life.” Life and death is a choice we make everyday. You could choose to live a dead empty life, one with no impact and the devil will support you 100%. Or you could choose to live an impactful life, full of energy and purpose and the devil will fight you tooth and nail every step of the way. Nevertheless, you will have God on your side every step of the way saying, “Come on, keep going. You're doing great!”
Would you like to experience something awesome right now? Look over your right shoulder and say, “God, thank you for keeping me alive through all those near death experiences”. Now just sit back and enjoy the golden glow in your heart as He gives you a big hug. I look forward to reading your stories.
