My Religion- Christo Paganism

Intro

With the recent forums on HubPages that I have participated in I feel more of a need to explain my beliefs as well as bring up a problems that is at hand. It seems that people are bringing down others due to their beliefs here on HubPages, like anywhere else. I find that now more than any other time we should accept others, not because of what the believe in or don't believe. Not because of their outward appearances but because of who they are with their personality.

I am a Christo Pagan. Yes, I realize it's strange to hear. A Pagan that believes in the Christian God. Isn't that against everything? I don't feel like that at all. I was raised a Christian but I've found more of a connection with the Pagan way. Except the Christian God will always be a God I believe in.

Calling Upon The Watchtowers

This is an act that is involved in rituals that Pagans will do to start out with as they open the circle. Instead of calling upon the Guardians, The Watchtowers or the Elementals, I call upon Archangels like Michael, Uriel, Gabriel and Raphael.

Archangel Michael is the angel of unity and defender of light. He is the guardian of humans on Earth and is known to be the angel of the south. Also to be the angel of Summer Michael is of the element Fire.

Archangel Gabriel is the angel of mercy, annunciation, death and Resurrection. He is the angel of the moon. His season is Fall and his direction is West. As for his element he is of water.

Archangel Raphael is the angel that cures illnesses of mankind and provides healing for the Earth. He is the angel of the sun, of springtime and the direction of East. His element is Air.

Then there is the archangel Uriel. He's the archangel of vengeance who guards one's direction on the spiritual path. Uriel also assists in salvation and reveals sacred mysteries. He is the angel of North, of winter and the element Earth. He's also known as the guardian of the nature kingdom.

Gods/Goddesses

I am open to anyone who wants to share their beliefs with me. My own consists of one God and Goddess. Although on occasions there are others. However only two I connect with the most. I follow the Christian God and the Goddess Sophia.

What I Believe

I believe that Mary, well known as Mother Mary, was the bride of Yah, also known to be the supreme God of the Old Testimate. She is my triple Goddess. As she was once a maiden, a mother and an elderly woman representing the Crone.

I also believe in Yeshua, also known as Jesus, that he was begotten by the father and born by the mother.

My beliefs also include the Holy Spirit. However I believe in a male and female holy spirit. Male is called Paraclete and the female is called Pneuma.

Tools And Symbols of Christo Paganism

Like other forms of Paganism I use the athame, wand, besom, and all the others. I also wear a cross and use the symbol of the cross for rituals. Some Christo Pagans will use a rosary. The triquerta, pentacle, ankh and many others are still used.

Metaphysical Beliefs

Like others who follow a Pagan like path, I believe in the uses of crystals in rituals, healing and amulets. I also believe in using herbs not just for rituals but for healing as well.

Divination

I still use tarot cards, runes, and other forms of divination though I connect more with the tarot cards so therefore use them the most.

Conclusion

Yup, this is what believe and who I am. No, I am not trying to push my beliefs on anyone. I am just merely trying to help others understand Christo- Paganism and also hoping that getting involved in forums merely to put others down for their beliefs will not continue. And if so that people will stand up against it. It is not necessary. Not at all.

Absolutely beautiful. I loved your Hub. It warms my heart to find others who have similar beliefs as I do.

I'll never quite understand why others put down others because of their beliefs. I guess love the sinner not sin or love thy neighbor doesn't apply.

Voted Up.

Another good hub, and a deeper look into your religion. I also use Gabriel, Michael, Raphael and uriel to put up my circle.

I am so open to different faiths that i will employ certain gods and spirits based on symbolism alone. If i see Zeus as a deity that can help with strength, i have already began to power that ideal in my mind.

Its interesting that you worship the christian God and a goddess. I believe that the christian god is actually every god all rolled into one, and so it is refreshing to hear that you single hinm out as an independent entity. I am going to re-read this.

Also i drew up a circle the other day that could be drawn in the ground and cast on. I think it may suit you very well, it has the archangels at the four quarters and lots of other symbols and the like. I'll upload it tonight.

its really courage from you to explain your believes in an honest and deep way, every one has the right to believe in his own and search to find what he think is the right to think. its so wrong to try to force your believes on others. but its more wrong to judge people on what they think because this is a relation between the person and God and God only can judge him. and you are totally right we should always deal with each others as humans and based on personalities, great hub and voted up

Hey, its too bad that people have tried to make you feel bad about your beliefs. It is really brave of you to state your beliefs like this. I like this hub, and I'm glad that you're you.

Thank you Stephanie, it is too bad. Way too bad. I try my best to accept anyone's beliefs no matter what they may b and even when I can't accept it I don't judge the person because of it. I'm a very open minded person. Thank you for stating that you're glad I am me. That just placed a smile on my face.

Cresent, I am printing this one and reading it carefully. Thank you very much for placing the link on my page. As a Pagan, I find this a bit difficult to grasp, but sure am willing to learn. Thanks again, Peace!

Glad your willing to learn about it. It may be difficult to grasp but know that while I still follow the Christian God I also am very Pagan. I know it's strange. I didn't even know about Christo Paganism myself for quite a while but am glad I stumbled on the path myself.

Hi - I promise I'm not stalking you, just enjoying reading through your hubs. :o)

I wanted to ask a couple of questions about your beliefs. Since you've obviously had some people respond negatively in the past, I want to assure you that I'm just curious and was hoping you could give me some answers I've been looking for for a while.

I've heard of Christo-Paganism before, maybe in slightly different terms, but the same idea behind it. I thought that in Christianity one of God's rules is that you can't worship any other gods? Also, I thought that magic and divination were frowned upon? Do you go to church? If so, doesn't it feel weird when they talk about God without mentioning Sophia as a separate entity?

Now I'll hold my hands up and say that I've not read the Bible all the way through, and I've never attended church, so Christianity isn't my strong point. I guess my questions really boil down to the fact that I see Christianity as very strict and structured - there are lots of specific things that are not okay to do - and I can't quite wrap my mind around how you would go about pairing this with Paganism, when Paganism itself is a frowned-upon-thing.

Lol psychopixi, I am glad to see you are reading my hubs.

As for your questions, paganism is great frowned upon in christianity however this is because it states that witchcraft is a sin. However the original bible did not state this. I actually did my research and learned that it was a different word, not witchcraft that was said in place however the bible was worked on by john the babtists and many others. Did you know that oringinally the christians followed a female deity? That too was taken out of the bible, that female deity was sophia and all of her followers were killed and bc of that those who remained hid themselves.

I do not go to church because in most cases Christians do not accept my beliefs. My mom however does because I shared with her verses that bring my evidence where Sophia could be possible.

Christo-Paganism can be formed with a very opened mind you cannot have a closed mind. The bible with what it is today was edited and so it cannot be fully trusted. All I do know is that I do connect to the Christian God and I do connect to Sophia as well as Yeshua (jesus). However I also connect with others as well. Including Artemis, Isis, Ra, Diana. It mainly is possible if you believe that the bible didn't originally state that paganism is a sin.

I hope you can somewhat understand it. I know it is difficult to understand but it is my path. I am glad you aren't judging it. Most christians do, those on a pagan based path do not. Well most don't anyway. lol. Feel free to ask more questions if you have any.

I think that a Pagan practice, whether Christian or traditional, will always have a strong blend of solitary practice and community involvement. The question remains as to how much structure we really want in our community life.

I still love this hub :) When you think about it, christo-paganism is quite a description of many christians without them even realising it, being as christianity was an adaptation of the more popular paganism at the time. It's nice to see that an intermingling of two once warring religious structures has come to light once more. It shows hope for a lot of acceptance in the future.

Cresentmoon2007 profile image

Thank you Nasake. I have come to embrace my paganism side more and more. Although i'll always consider myself a Christo-Pagan because I know this is the right path for me.

voodoo123 profile image

Cresentmoon My Point is being as christianity The adaptation of the more popular paganism at the time Or There is acceptance in the future.

Cresentmoon2007 profile image

Cresentmoon2007 4 years ago from Caledonia, MI Author

I know there isn't very much acceptance of paganism in christianity today. However it is increasing. Adapting paganism into christianity is now better than what it has ever been in the past and I believe it is going to be more accepted in the future if that is what you are asking.

voodoo123 profile image

Points we may have in common.

I understand that paganism is a growing religious force in the world today. We believe in the reality of a spiritual world that exists now in parallel with the physical universe. Many churches are spiritually dead - emphasizing "club rules" and not a personal encounter with the divine. The Holy Spirit has greater power than all the rest of the angels and demons combined.

Cresentmoon2007 profile image

Cresentmoon2007 4 years ago from Caledonia, MI Author

You are correct about churches being spiritually dead, with their "club rules". I agree with you there. In my beliefs angels are just as helpful as the holy spirit. I call for their help just as much as I do the mother goddess or the father god.

I did my research and learned that it was a different word, not spiritually dead that was said in place however the bible was worked on by john or mastervoodoospells.com or many others.

Your opinion are fare about bible and I agreed with their should bible had greater power than all the rest of the angels and demons.

Thanks for posting this. I have been wondering about how I could be a Christian AND a Pagan without ‘offending’ or upseting God. Your words helped me realize that this spiritual path isn't so hard to take. Thanks!
